A Checklist Of Democratic School Practices, Ernest L. Muzzall

All Faculty Scholarship for the College of Education and Professional Studies

Democratic practices in the school are based upon three fundamental purposes. These are: the developing of wholesome and well-adjusted personalities, the forming of habits of mutual helpfulness and cooperation and the furthering of conditions within the school which will encourage intelligent behavior of members of a democratic society. The purpose of this check list is to provide a means by which those engaged in the educational task may examine their practices to see if they square with what they profess to believe.

A Critical Analysis Of Report Cards Used In New Mexico, John Robert Grove

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

Many of the ties that used to bind the home and school are gone. The home and the school no longer have the feeling of intimacy that prevailed between them two hundred years ago. In the early American schools it was possible for the teacher to know the parents of nearly every child in the school room. It was designed to house a modern and functional elementary school and to be an integral part of a progressive teacher-education program. The curriculum is based upon contemporary life and individual student needs. It provides facilities for enabling teachers in training to secure the necessary experiences essential to the administration of the modern elementary school.

A History Of The Public Schools Of Raton, New Mexico, Carson Creecy Jun 1941

A History Of The Public Schools Of Raton, New Mexico, Carson Creecy

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

Educational literature is singularly lacking in studies of the actual development of typical school systems. This raises the question of whether such a study would be of any value as a contribution to educational literature. If the interest manifested by all school people who had a part in the preparation of this study can be used as a measure, then both an interest and a need are felt.
