Proposal For "An Introduction To Adult Literacy" As An Elective Course In The Mat Program, Ruth Ellen Passo

MA TESOL Collection

Few ESL teacher programs in the United States offer such compatibility highly trained humanistic instructors than the MAT program at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. Nonetheless, most of the studies at this institution are geared to teaching in a private language academy abroad or in the United States. Yet, a real need for competent ESL teachers exists in our country within the public domain. The recent emergence and evolving role of the bilingual/bicultural education major at SIT addresses itself to this area, mainly from the standpoint of elementary education and child language acquisition and development. Concepts Of Career And General Education, Paul A. Olson Jan 1977

Concepts Of Career And General Education, Paul A. Olson

Department of English: Faculty Publications

This paper examines the distinctions between general education and education for a career, with a view to synthesizing the literature and presenting salient problems. General education can be defined in several ways. It is defined here as education that puts a person in touch with the main outlines of knowledge available to a historical period or a given culture. Theoretically, education is general if it has no one specific vocation as its end and no one specific discipline or partisan viewpoint as its specialty. By way of example, the medieval quadrivium and trivium can be viewed as "general education," in …

Jacobs High School Instructional Materials Center Policy And Procedure Handbook, Kenneth Gene Felgenhour Jan 1977

Jacobs High School Instructional Materials Center Policy And Procedure Handbook, Kenneth Gene Felgenhour

Masters Theses

The Purpose of the study was to design a handbook containing objectives, policies, procedures and rules for the instructional media program at H. D. Jacobs High School. A media staff has the imperative charge to set up its facility and make sure that it runs smoothly. This challenge was met at this high school to a certain extent, but the smoothness or professional element was lacking. The efficiency of operation is the premise of concern with which the policy-and-procedure handbook deals.

The ideas for this handbook have been compiled from years of visiting libraries and media centers. While visiting libraries …
