Safety Education In The Intermediate Grades, Grace M. Brett Apr 1933

Safety Education In The Intermediate Grades, Grace M. Brett

Bachelors’ Theses

One of the purposes of the school is to enable the child to adjust himself to the natural and social environment in which he must. work and live. Managers of large industries have been coping with the problem of safety for many years. It is their contention that safety must be made a part and parcel of every member of a community. People must be brought to think of safety on the same basks as good health. Statistics show that two-thirds of all the accidental deaths occur outside of industries, which emphasizes the importance of a campaign to promote safety …

Motion Pictures In Education, S. O. Opsahl Apr 1933

Motion Pictures In Education, S. O. Opsahl

Bachelors’ Theses

Schools have long been in existence but until . recent years little has been done to attempt to adapt them to the interests and needs of children so as to better fit them to take their place in the work of the world. As this purpose of education has been coming into prominence, methods for accomplishing it have brought many problems before the educators. Changes in methods of teaching, enrichment of the courses of study, and the extension of equipment for teaching, are factors which have been brought forward toward forwarding the real purposes of education.

Organization And Administrative Relationships Of The Departments Of Physical Education And Health In Various Wisconsin High Schools, Joseph J. Kores

Bachelors’ Theses

The Board of Education of the State of Wisconsin requires that all High Schools shall have a Physical Education program. As a rule all High Schools fulfill this requirement. But as there are no specifications enforced, as to how the Physical Education program should be carried on, each school organizes its program according to its own tastes.

This survey clearly indicates the …

Teaching History In The Fourth Grade Of The Milwaukee Public Schools, Verna C. Devine Apr 1933

Teaching History In The Fourth Grade Of The Milwaukee Public Schools, Verna C. Devine

Bachelors’ Theses

Rapidly changing industrial conditions and the crowding of our cities have placed a new emphasis on man's contacts with his fellow man. We live in such close interdependence in a world grown small through such factors as steamships, radios, and airplanes that our social adjustments must of necessity differ widely from those of our ancestors whose homes were almost self sustaining. Our schools have realized the necessity for a changed curriculum and are placing more and more emphasis on the social studies. But we are still asking ourselves: What shall we teach? And what place shall history have in the …

Bachelors’ Theses

The importance to the community of the health of its children can hardly be over-emphasized when it is fully realized that the children of to-day are the bread winners and the parents of to-morrow. The health of our children is the foundation upon which the welfare of the community depends. To conserve the health of the child is as much a function of the state as it is to conserve the natural resources. To investigate the evils that exist and to remedy all that may be remedied without transgressing …
