Sixteen Johnston High School students spent six weeks obtaining a better understanding of the relationship of animals and plants in their environment and the effect this environment has on the plants and animals. They applied field techniques and t h e scientific method while working both in the laboratory and in the field.

In October, 1963, the Iowa Science Teachers' Association initiated the system of electing its officers through mail balloting. This system was adopted, and has become established procedure since that time, so all members of ISTA may have an opportunity to vote for our officers even if they are unable to be in attendance at the Annual fall meeting.
