Rb56-180 False Smut Of Buffalograss, John L. Weihing Jan 1956

Rb56-180 False Smut Of Buffalograss, John L. Weihing

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials

False smut of buffalograss, Buchloe dactyloides (Nutt.) Engelm., caused by Cercospora seminalis Ell. & Ev. is a disease that destroys the unfertilized ovary. The disease was first reported by J. B. Ellis and B. M. Everhart in 1888. They gave only a brief description of the disease and named the causal fungus Cercospora seminalis. The origin of the term "false smut" is unknown to the author, but it so descriptively fits the general appearances of the disease that one readily understands its usage. The following studies were conducted from 1950 to 1954.

Pilot-Study Use Of The Tachistoscope In Elementary Grade Reading, Gordon Keith Wells

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The classroom teacher in the modern elementary school faces many challenges. Among these are limited classroom facilities, large-size classes, double session, wide ability range of pupils, supplementary assignments, and often inadequate material resources.

In spite of these problems, the teacher strives to advance his pupils as far as their interest and ability and skill as a teacher will permit. New ideas in teaching, additional means of motivation, and improved techniques of instruction attract his interest. Because reading plays such an important role in the elementary school programs, the teacher is especially attracted to suggestions and improved techniques of teaching this …

Possible Solutions To Certain Problems Arising In The Production Of School-Produced Motion Pictures, Harley G. Jones

Graduate Student Research Papers

The basic problem chosen for this study is "Possible Solutions to Certain Problems Arising in the Production of School-Produced Motion Pictures." Specific problems arise in any medium of expression, and it is wise to expect problems to arise when locally produced audio-visual aids in the form of motion pictures are considered by a school. The paper resulting from this study does not supply all of the answers to all of the problems, nor does it necessarily supply the best answers to any specific problem arising. Nevertheless, by posing some available solutions to certain of the problems, it provides assistance in …
