Holiness And The Greek Tongue, Newton Wray
Holiness And The Greek Tongue, Newton Wray
Books by Taylor faculty, staff, and administrators
The advent of Jesus Christ occurred at a date described as "the fulness of time," signifying not only an hour for the fulfillment of prophecy but also that providential preparation which predisposed to the reception of Christianity and facilitated its spread among men.
The factors in this preparation may be included under four general heads:
1. The moral state of the world.
2. The Roman Empire.
3. The Greek language.
4. The location of Jewish Synagogues everywhere.

The Teaching Of English In The Junior High School, Louise Knowlton
The Teaching Of English In The Junior High School, Louise Knowlton
Bachelors’ Theses
The study of the English lenguege and its literature occupies a unique position among the studies of the secondary school--a position supported by universal recognition for its importance to all pupils. No other subject can compare with it in the amount of attention afforded throughout the secondary-school course or in the extent to which it meets the needs of all pupils. The importance of the study of the mother tongue and its literature seems to be quite generally recognized. It requires a careful analysis and interpretation of its special values and purposes. It is only when these are properly conceived …

Evaluation Of Modern Methods In The Teaching Of History, Valborg R.C. Henningsen
Bachelors’ Theses
By method is meant that arrangement of subject matter, which makes it most effective in use. Never is method something outside of material. Even from the standpoint of an individual who is dealing with subject matter, it is not something external but rather thoroughly individual. Each person has his own instinctive way of dealing with material. The attitude and mode of approach and attack are individual. To ignore this individuality of approach, to try to substitute for it, under the name of general method, a uniform scheme of procedure is simply to cripple the only effective agencies of operation and …

The Teaching Of English In The Elementary Schools, Julia Agnes Regan
The Teaching Of English In The Elementary Schools, Julia Agnes Regan
Bachelors’ Theses
From one point of view the significance of the development of modern education can best be estimated by the progress of the mother-tongue toward the central place in formal instruction. When the study of the mother-tongue and its literature is made the core of the curriculum, education is something quite different from that training in which a foreign, perhaps an ancient tongue holds the chief place. We have been told by one school of critics that the mother-tongue need not be taught, for it will be picked up somehow; by another, that it cannot be taught, for there is nothing …
Oral English In The Elementary School, Pauline Ehbets
Oral English In The Elementary School, Pauline Ehbets
Bachelors’ Theses
Since oral English is natural and necessary to the child, it was long thought that instruction in the mother tongue was unnecessary. The establishment of the High Schools in 1876 made definite demands in literary expression upon the elementary schools. Today there is a growing conviction that it is a basic part of every branch of the curriculum, and that it should be a separate study only for definite technical demands...
