School Of Practical Art Course Catalog (1943-1944), School Of Practical Art

Art Institute of Boston (AIB) Course Catalogs

The School of Practical Art was established in 1912 by Roy Atherton Davidson. For twenty-nine years it has regularly and consistently trained its students to engage in remunerative work in those branches of art which are necessary to business and industry. Today it occupies an important position in the training and placing of artists in this work.

The drawings and paintings reproduced in this catalog are all original, and were made by students who began their art school training with no more talent than you are familiar with in high school work. Unusual talent is not necessary and you should …

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

As early as February, 1942, fears of an agricultural labor shortage began to be expressed in California. The Pacific Southwest Area Committee of the Young Men’s Christian Association asserts in a statement of policy on Emergency Harvest Camps, “The California State Chamber of Commerce’s Central Coast Council’s Agricultural Committee points out that ‘the removal of enemy aliens from coastal areas, the absorption of migrant workers into defense industries, and increased government quotas for the production of many crops has created a serious agricultural problem.’ (News release, February 28, 1942).”

In San Joaquin County 5,000 Japanese were evacuated. Most of these …

A Checklist Of Democratic School Practices, Ernest L. Muzzall Nov 1942

A Checklist Of Democratic School Practices, Ernest L. Muzzall

All Faculty Scholarship for the College of Education and Professional Studies

Democratic practices in the school are based upon three fundamental purposes. These are: the developing of wholesome and well-adjusted personalities, the forming of habits of mutual helpfulness and cooperation and the furthering of conditions within the school which will encourage intelligent behavior of members of a democratic society. The purpose of this check list is to provide a means by which those engaged in the educational task may examine their practices to see if they square with what they profess to believe.
