Why do we need a guidance program? Who can be benefited by it? First, our teachers need the services of a guidance program in order that they may know more about their pupils, -- their abilities and interests as well as their weaknesses. Information about the pupil's background, the different schools he has attended, …

The Evaluation Of A Junior High School Testing Program, Albert H. Wright

Health, Exercise, and Sports Sciences ETDs

It is the purpose of this study (1) to compare physical achievement scores of seventh, eighth, and ninth grade boys; (2) to compare physical achievement scores of the athletes and non-athletes in the eighth and ninth grades; and (3) to determine which events, if any, can be used to predict athletic performance.

This study is important to physical educators working with junior high school boys. There is a need for adequate measurement of progress in physical achievement and also a need for ways in which instructors might predict athletic ability at this age level.

Literature Which May Be Used To Help Children Toward Better Mental Health, Hester Lee Roby May 1955

Literature Which May Be Used To Help Children Toward Better Mental Health, Hester Lee Roby

Research Problems, 1940-1991

The purpose of this problem is two-fold. First, there has been an attempt to determine from published research and opinion the effect of books on children's mental health; and second, the writer has compiled an annotated bibliography of children's books, which, in the opinion of the writer, may help children to overcome emotional problems. "No one, child or grown-up, seems to be free from some form of unhappiness which he is hiding from the world." Every child has his problems. They may seem small and even foolish to us but they are real and important to him. His problem may …

A Study Of Instructional Practices And Recommendations Of Thirty-Five Successful Biological Science Teachers In The Secondary Schools Of Utah, Gerald H. Raat Jr. May 1955

A Study Of Instructional Practices And Recommendations Of Thirty-Five Successful Biological Science Teachers In The Secondary Schools Of Utah, Gerald H. Raat Jr.

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

This study is concerned with the teaching of biology in Utah secondary schools. It is based chiefly on analysis of: (1) the teaching procedures used by thirty-five teachers of biology in Utah who were designated by their principals as being outstanding teachers, and (2) the facilities and equipment these teachers think are essential.

As long as schools exist there will be need for studies concerning teaching methods, facilities, and equipment. Man's ever-widening knowledge about science and the wide range in abilities of pupils in our schools make such studies in science particularly important. Perhaps the following will serve to emphasize …

Parent Participation At Central School Of Brigham City, Utah, Elbert J. Anderson

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

We plead for a better, a more just, a more open and straightforward, a more public society, in which free and all-around communication and participation occurs as a matter of course in order that education may be bettered. We plead for an improved and enlarged education in order that there may be brought into existence a society all of whose operations shall be more genuinely educative, conducive to the development of desire, judgment and character. (1)

Participation is concerned with three groups; students, trained experts, and parents. None of these, in the eyes of Dewey or Kilpatrick and their school …

A Study And Evaluation Of The Automotive Program At The Utah State Agricultural College, Ivan E. Lee

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

As the graduates of colleges and universities receive their diplomas and leave their Alma Mater, a new and different challenge confronts them. Their problem now is not one of being free of the struggles of completing their education but rather the anticipation of what will be their success in the future. They feel that now they are qualified to take over new jobs and responsibilities for which they have been trained. Many will be successful in securing good positions in their respective fields (others may have to start at the bottom and gain their advancement through more learning while on …
