A History Of Education In Porto Rico, Elna Mae Miller
A History Of Education In Porto Rico, Elna Mae Miller
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this thesis is to give an outline of education and its progress on the island of Porto Rico, from the coming of the Spaniards through the years of American control. It is not written for experts on Porto Rican education, although it is the data of such experts, that has made this work possible. It is rather for those American students, who know little or not.hing of this possession, its early history, or its educational problems past or present; and yet who, like myself hear more and more of this island each year, so fast is it …

The Teaching Of Written Composition In The Grammar Grades, Elizabeth Harrington
The Teaching Of Written Composition In The Grammar Grades, Elizabeth Harrington
Bachelors’ Theses
No civilization at all could exist unless people had some means of making known their thoughts and getting others to work and act with them. Man is a social being and communication with others is an imperative need. Expression of some kind is natural and necessary in order to carry on intercourse with others. Language is the great means of communication. It is the channel through which thought and. feeling flow. Thought and language are interdependent. Clear thinking is almost as dependent on correct words as exact words are on clear thinking.

History And Development Of Modern Education And Its Present Status, Iva M. Krebs
History And Development Of Modern Education And Its Present Status, Iva M. Krebs

Every professional teacher since modern civilization began, has used method in his instruction. There are certain general principles back of all teaching methods that give them a common character. The chief characteristics of our modern methods used in education can be traced back to the eighteenth century.
The Interpretation Of The Curriculum In Terms Of Projects, Catherine Francis O'Grady
The Interpretation Of The Curriculum In Terms Of Projects, Catherine Francis O'Grady
Bachelors’ Theses
This thesis is an attempt to show that through the utilization of projects the subject matter of the present curriculum functions as it should, is mastered more effectively, and learned more thoroughly because the project procedure is in complete accordance with the laws of learning. The writer desires, furthermore, to point out in particular a significant aspect of the project procedure, a corollary which appears on analysis truly phenomenal; roughly stated it is the fact that in a project procedure manifold opportunities are being constantly presented whereby desirable attitudes and ideals may most appropriately be fixed.

The Growth Of Civic Education In The Schools, Alice F. Lantry
The Growth Of Civic Education In The Schools, Alice F. Lantry
Bachelors’ Theses
The term "civics" is now generally used to refer to the teaching of "civil government" including all those projects which tend to develop an interested, intelligent, efficient, loyal citizenship. It is much broader in scope than the term "civil government" which was formerly used and which was but a synonym for machinery of government.
The Problem Of Individual Differences, Marie Ann Lamers
The Problem Of Individual Differences, Marie Ann Lamers
