Selected Attempts To Organize Elementary Schools For Individualizing Instruction, Edwin W. Morgan Aug 1964

Selected Attempts To Organize Elementary Schools For Individualizing Instruction, Edwin W. Morgan

Graduate Student Research Papers

The organization and structure of schools and school programs is one area where changes have been made, based on research, to better serve the individual. The methods used by teachers, working within certain organizational patterns is another attempt to promote the well being of the individual. It may be said that …

A Study Of The Educational Achievements Of Boys Enrolled In The Special Education Program At Mcilvaigh Junior High School, Tacoma, Washington, Donald E. Chamberlain

Graduate Student Research Papers

This study was undertaken to determine if the mentally handicapped child's achievements are higher in subjects and material that are concrete and realistic in nature to the child, rather than the so-called academic subjects based primarily on abstract thinking. Traditionally, most schools have special education classes only in three major academic areas, mathematics, social studies and English. More often than not, these subjects are taught on an academic bases. Industrial arts could be an answer in the search for a suitable curriculum arrangement. Preparations For Curriculum Change, Orville Edgar Clough

Graduate Student Research Papers

A curriculum change might occur in one specific learning area, or it could be a reorganization of the entire instructional program. The purpose of this study was (1) to find how needs for change are being justified; (2) to show how teachers are being prepared …

"Look, Ma, He's Reading", Pauline Lucas

Reading Horizons: A Journal of Literacy and Language Arts

You learn to swim by swimming. You learn to sing by singing. You learn to drive a car by driving. The same truth holds for reading; you learn to read by reading, to really read that is, not merely to pronounce words. Why, then, don't we as teachers spend more time and effort leading children to the joys and habits of reading—volunteer reading for fun, for recreation, for sheer enjoyment?
