The teacher who demonstrates that choice is inevitable in the human situation and helps each student realize his responsibility to choose what he becomes, is doing an inestimable service for his students. Having become aware of this choice, the student learns that he has more control over what he sees, what he does, and how he interprets.

The study focused on three areas of secondary level social

studies education: teacher preparation, integration of the

social studies, and the purposes of social studies education.

The main sources used for the study were presidential addresses

by the leaders of both groups, editorials in the official journal

of each organization, committee reports by each group, and

various pamphlets, books, and articles by committees or officials

of each organization. Conclusions and recommendations were

stated at the end of each chapter.

Guidelines For Development Of Outdoor Education Programs, Leland D. Chapman

This paper presents guidelines for development of an outdoor education program for schools in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. This developmental study is an analysis of the information collected from nine districts in Oregon, Washington, and the Regional Office, U.S. Forest Service, Portland, Oregon. It is limited to evaluations of existing programs, interviews with resource personnel and library research. Recommendations of this study are those indicated by the districts consulted and the Washington and Oregon Departments of Public Instruction.

Development Of An Instrument To Measure Student Attitudes Toward God Using Semantic Differential, Joyce A. Morse

The study had two objectives

(1) to construct an instrument, which would, measure students' attitudes toward God, and

(2) to use the instrument in a small pilot study to test its usefulness.

The instrument was patterned after the format of Osgood's Semantic Differential and each subject was asked to make judgments on five different concepts about God. Each concept was judged by pairs of bipolar adjectives on a rating scale of one to five, with five, being the most-positive.. On January 20, 1970, Judge Manuel L. Real directed the officials of the Pasadena Unified School District to prepare and implement a school desegregation plan to take effect at all levels within the district by the opening of school in September of 1970. This study dealt with the efforts of the Pasadena Unified School District to meet the provisions of this court order. Such examination involved an extensive perusal and analysis of the desegregation plan developed in response to this order. That response is known as the Pasadena Plan.
