Caribbean Early Childhood Educators, Primary Educators, And Student Teachers' Perceptions Of Visual Literacy And Visual Images Across The Curriculum, Monica Yvonne Hines-Graham

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The problem that was addressed through this study is the gap in knowledge about the integration and evaluation of visual literacy and visual images across the curriculum of early childhood educators, primary educators, and student teachers, despite it being a requirement for teachers in the Caribbean education system. Grounded in Hall and Hord’s concerns-based adoption model, the purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of early childhood educators, primary educators, and student teachers with the integration and evaluation of visual literacy and visual images across the curriculum. For this basic qualitative design, semistructured interviews with 12 participants from …

The Influx Of Public-School Students In Private Schools And The Effects On The Classroom Management Strategies Used By Private School Teachers, James Moore

Student Theses and Dissertations

In the current climate of expanding school choice, epitomized by Arkansas’s LEARNS Act, a significant number of students are transitioning from public to private schools. With policy debates centering on access and funding streams, the impact of this demographic shift remains critically underexplored by researchers. This interpretive phenomenological study addresses the significant gap that exists in examining the classroom management strategies and lived experiences of 12 private school teachers in Central Arkansas. The common misconception is that behavior may be the biggest challenge for teachers; however, findings indicate that the most significant challenge for students transitioning is the academic rigor. …

Journal of Applied Farm Economics

This study evaluates the economic viability of integrating poultry into organic vegetable crop rotations over three years in Kentucky and Iowa and two years in California. Given the growing global demand for food and heightened environmental awareness, understanding the financial implications of such integrated systems is crucial. Our comprehensive experiment compared integrated poultry-vegetable rotations with vegetable-only systems, assessing costs, revenues, and key factors influencing profitability. While integrating poultry reduced vegetable production costs by up to 10% in some cases, overall system costs increased due to high poultry expenses. Break-even poultry prices averaged $8/lb for low-density systems and $7 for high-density …

Complexity Mindsets, Complex Flow, And More: A Qualitative Grounded Theory Study On The Phenomenon Of Practitioners Working Within Complex Social Systems, Emma D. Stellman Jan 2026

Complexity Mindsets, Complex Flow, And More: A Qualitative Grounded Theory Study On The Phenomenon Of Practitioners Working Within Complex Social Systems, Emma D. Stellman

Educational Studies Dissertations

This qualitative grounded theory study addressed gaps in the literature regarding the application of complexity theory to complex social phenomena (CSP), for which no straightforward solutions or simple interventions exist. While complexity theory has played an important role in groundbreaking innovations in quantitative fields such as medicine, engineering, and finance, its application remains limited in human-centered developmental domains including education, social work, and healthcare. Using a grounded theory design informed by phenomenological approaches, this study examined the lived experiences of a group of six CSP practitioners, each of whom participated in two individual, semi-structured video interviews. Interview data were analyzed …

From Automation To Imagination: Empowering Student Creativity In The Digital Age, Annie Yon

New Jersey English Journal

In today’s digital age, literacy extends beyond traditional reading and writing to encompass collaboration, multimodal communication, and the ability to create meaning through diverse media. As AI becomes more integrated into education, we must reconsider its impact on student thinking, work ethic, and writing, while redefining meaningful writing and assessments. Rather than relying on traditional five-paragraph essays, projects like literary magazines that blend writing with multimodal components showcase how educators can prioritize creativity, expression, and personal reflection. This approach ensures that even in the age of AI, students continue to create and engage in ways that are authentically their own.

A055: Aerobic Exercise Improves Sarcopenia And Gut-Muscle Axis In Abx-Treated Samp8 Mice, Sisi Yao, Wenfeng Liu Jan 2026

A055: Aerobic Exercise Improves Sarcopenia And Gut-Muscle Axis In Abx-Treated Samp8 Mice, Sisi Yao, Wenfeng Liu

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Sarcopenia, characterized by reduced skeletal muscle mass and function, is a common geriatric condition that impairs mobility and quality of life. Its causes include neuroendocrine dysregulation, chronic inflammation, malnutrition, and gut microbiota imbalance. The gut microbiota influences muscle metabolism and function via the gut-muscle axis, and aerobic exercise has been shown to improve both gut microbiota composition and muscle function. This study explores whether aerobic exercise can alleviate sarcopenia induced by gut microbiota dysbiosis through the gut-muscle axis, offering a basis for exercise interventions. The study employed the senescence-accelerated mouse strain P8 (SAMP8) model. Gut microbiota dysbiosis was induced via …

A068: Research Progress On The Mechanisms Of Exercise Preconditioning In Promoting Neurological Repair After Stroke, Siyu Li, Biwen Peng

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Stroke is a neurological disorder characterized by acute focal damage to the central nervous system due to vascular causes stands as a leading cause of disability and mortality worldwide. Two pivotal strategies to mitigate the global burden of stroke include the prevention of both initial and recurrent strokes, as well as the effective treatment of acute stroke patients to minimize fatalities and disabilities. Exercise, often regarded for its safety, cost-effectiveness, ease of implementation, and efficacy as a non-pharmacological intervention, has garnered widespread attention and is considered a crucial component in reducing stroke risk and aiding in stroke recovery. However, pre-stroke …
