Jesus, Nazareth And The Identity Of Catholic Schools, Maurice Ryan May 2024

Jesus, Nazareth And The Identity Of Catholic Schools, Maurice Ryan

eJournal of Catholic Education in Australasia

The identity of Jesus of Nazareth is the foundation of the identity of Catholic schools. Often, assertions about the identity of Jesus in relation to Catholics schools are presented without reference to the biblical record. This article seeks to provide biblical context to discussions about the identity of Jesus of Nazareth. These contextual discussions about Jesus are designed to aid considerations of Catholic school identity. The specific focus of this article is a survey of contemporary literature on Jesus’ hometown—Nazareth. A focus on Nazareth does not reveal the whole story of Jesus; it offers one piece of the jigsaw revealing …

"Can You Just Speak Normal?": How Language Summer Camps Affect White Children's Participation In The Linguistically, Culturally, And Racially Diverse United States, Mary M. Bruggeman May 2024

"Can You Just Speak Normal?": How Language Summer Camps Affect White Children's Participation In The Linguistically, Culturally, And Racially Diverse United States, Mary M. Bruggeman

Honors Projects

The United States is becoming an increasingly diverse county. Young children are at the best age to learn about language and race, but the way that language programs address the intersection of language and race echoes the issues present in the rest of society. Learning a language in a racially diverse environment improves racial attitudes, but the only way to get to the root of the issue of inequality among individuals who speak another language, have a different culture, or are a part of a different racial group is to discuss the topic of inequality in the United States directly. …

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Despite the contribution of a large body of musical literature by Black Americans from the late nineteenth century forward, few musical contributions of Black American slaves have been properly attributed from the centuries prior, and many were credited to White Americans. In recent years, cultural sensitivities and misinterpretations toward the early music of Black Americans have created a movement to remove many of these songs from circulation and in particular, music education repertoire. In this study, the folk music created by Black Americans from the seventeenth through the nineteenth century was explored in order to determine the motivational factors according …

A Solvent And Catalyst-Free Approach For Synthesizing Bio-Based Adhesive Using Various Diols, Sonu Parekh

Electronic Theses & Dissertations

The development of low-cost bio-based formaldehyde-free adhesives has aroused widespread interest in the adhesive industry. The usage of adhesives that contain urea-formaldehyde or phenol formaldehyde leads to environmental issues. Traditional polyurethane adhesives were based on fossil fuels and the use of solvents made them toxic. Petrochemicals are non-renewable resources that will be depleted soon. Therefore, non-renewable materials should be replaced by bio-based renewable resources. Using renewable bio-resources, especially plant oils, as a substitute for petroleum-based polyols is an approach that showed promise. Here, in this research work, soybean oil polyol (SOP) was used to synthesize polyurethane (PU) adhesive. For studying …
