The Effects Of Seesaw On "John Kanaka" Singing Assessment Tracking And Teacher-To-Student Feedback In The Third Grade Elementary Music Classroom, Sarah Elizabeth Gonzalez
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Assessments play a vital role for teachers to measure individual student progress and motivate instruction that meets students' needs. Traditional assessments provide a substantive way for teachers to collect data, which they will analyze long after they administer the assessment. Creating substantial evidence for individual performance-based standards poses a challenge. Seesaw serves as an online platform for student engagement, allowing students to share their knowledge while parents can safely monitor it through photos, videos, drawings, text, audio, PDFs, and links. The researchers conducted the study over four weeks in March 2025 in the third-grade music classes at Ray Roberts Elementary. …

The Unicorn And Christ – Metamorphosis And Symbology, Luis Mendonça De Carvalho, Francisca Maria Fernandes, Maria Fátima Nunes, Ana Maria Costa, Paula Nozes, Ana Paula Figueira
International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage
The unicorn is a legendary chimaera that, for centuries, has been present in the mindset of Euro-Mediterranean cultures. Although its morphological description changed, tradition identifies it as an animal like a horse, albeit smaller and with a spiralling horn on its head pointing forward. The unicorn has been known since Antiquity, with references by authors such as Ctesias and Pliny. However, its relevance for medieval Europeans began with the Biblical references to this animal in several Old Testament verses. These verses gave legitimacy to the unicorn, and it was accepted as a tangible animal. During the Middle Ages and early …

Biblical Themes In Spanish Instruction, Adrienne J. Royo
Biblical Themes In Spanish Instruction, Adrienne J. Royo
The Journal of Biblical Foundations of Faith and Learning
This paper seeks to answer the question, when teaching Spanish, does one have to be in a certain venue to be able to share God and the Bible? Through exploration of legends, myths, traditions, Spanish proverbs, and names of geographical locations, as well as personal experiences, the question is answered, elucidating the fact that the sharing of God’s Word is not dependent upon the venue, it is centered in a sense of intentionality in seeking opportunities appropriate to the setting and the occasion. In a spiritual and physical sense, Psalm 19:1 (KJV) defines the world around us when David declares: …

The Communication And Public Speaking Course And Biblical Foundations – Interpersonal Encounters With The Creator, Victoria Joiner Edd
The Journal of Biblical Foundations of Faith and Learning
Teaching COMM 135 Communication and Public Speaking from a biblical worldview is critical to the Southern University student body. This paper discusses various strategies to provide a biblical foundation in the course that has secular humanistic thought and philosophies at its core. This worldview is a seamless, often unconscious stream of biblical inclusion throughout the semester. Successfully integrating the basic biblical foundation principle of God’s interpersonal communication with humanity within Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for the course is not only possible but essential within the biblical foundation paradigm. Wood’s (2016) eight axioms/principles of Interpersonal Communication provide a foundation upon which …

So Much More Than Summer Camp: The Importance Of Environmental Education At Nature Centers, Olivia Upton
Undergraduate Theses and Capstone Projects
Education in the U.S. currently faces a deficit in the promotion and proper teaching of climate change curriculum. Obvious gaps are created by a lack of clear teaching standards for environmental education, the American political machine stirring up controversy over the legitimacy of climate change, or teacher preferences. As climate change is considered one of the greatest threats facing humanity today, there is a need to educate people, especially younger generations, in order to navigate future challenges and make informed decisions. Nature centers offer the ideal location for the promotion of climate change education based on their direct connection to …

Reimagining Pedagogies Of The Prison Yard: Using Ethnotheatre To Embody Transcarceral Conocimiento, Mabelle Reynoso
Dissertations
Latinxs make up 40% of California's population but account for 45% of the prison population and 47% of the jail population (Sawyer, 2023). Their overrepresentation in carceral custody not only impacts the individual but also affects families and communities by limiting access to social, political, and educational capital and agency. In response to gaps in research specific to the collateral impact, this interdisciplinary arts-based qualitative study highlights the experiences of five formerly incarcerated Latino men who participated in an Arts in Corrections playwriting class during their time in a California state prison. This study foregrounds their knowledge as cuentistas (storytellers), …

Decolonizing Education In The Post-Independent Madagascar By Utilizing Malagasy As The Primary Language Of Instruction In Schools, Patric R Razafimahafaly
Doctoral Dissertations
When the French colonial power structured the education system in Madagascar during colonization (1896-1960), they oriented it toward French needs and interests (Rosnes & Rakotoanosy, 2016). One of the relics of the French colonial influence that significantly affected Madagascar since its independence in 1960 is the choice of language of instruction in its domain of education. Even though Madagascar has its sole spoken and written language, “Malagasy,” that people use every day, it has decided to borrow French and utilize it as the language of instruction and administration for its people (Dahl, 2011; Rosie, 2012; McCaughey, 2020; Pirbay & Rosenboom, …

Focus groups are commonly used in extension. Extension professionals can encounter unique challenges when conducting focus groups. Extension literature is replete with best practices for conducting focus groups, but there is a lack of systematically documented practical challenges and strategies for overcoming them. We share the challenges we have faced over the past 13 years while conducting focus groups with different participant groups in extension globally and strategies that can be used to overcome or navigate these challenges. The ideas presented in this paper can provide valuable assistance to extension professionals who utilize focus groups for research and evaluation purposes.

Expanding Extension Involvement Through An Undergraduate Life Skills Course, Stacey F. Stearns, Aditi Rao
Journal of Extension
Extension traditionally involves undergraduate students through experiential learning and internships. We sought to develop a new model, and created an undergraduate life skills course for students in our college that featured Extension educators as guest lecturers in areas aligned with their specialty. Universities have a stable population of potential program participants, volunteers, and employees. It is imperative that we raise awareness about Extension while the students are enrolled in our institutions. Creating a for-credit undergraduate course that teaches life skills through Extension programs has tangible benefits for both the students and the Extension system.
