A Theory Of The Consumer Cooperative Unit In The Free-Exchange Economy, Ralph N. Calkins May 1949

A Theory Of The Consumer Cooperative Unit In The Free-Exchange Economy, Ralph N. Calkins

Economics ETDs

The construction of the voluntary associations leading to cooperative socialism in a free-exchange economy offers a complex, but intriguing problem. This complexity arises from the joint difficulties of the politico-economic cooperative philosophy and the relations of the associative business unit to the generally uncontrolled economy. Because of the century-long accumulation of ideals and practical policy, there is today no simple way of outlining the precepts of Cooperatism, the philosophy of cooperation. For reasons that will appear soon, a chronological approach was required first, and an integrated approach was later adopted.

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

In order for land to best serve the present and future generations it should be put into the use for which it is best adapted. To determine the proper use of land, the factors which influence its use, such as soil, climate, and location, should be studied. Then the land should be classified as to its most economic use, based on these factors.

In Cache County there is much work to be done toward a classification of the land. An ideal study; not limited by time nor expense; would include a complete study of all the factors associated with land-use. …
