Capital inflow consisted of unremitted profits, increase in equity holdings and debentures, commercial credits and other short-term loans from overseas parent or affiliate companies. The decline in retained profits as a proportion of private capital investment, therefore, reflects the increase in the outpay-ments on account of dividends, interests and service charges. An estimate and analysis of total private foreign investment based on response from questionnaires submitted are presented in this paper.

This article examines private foreign investment in in Nigeria for the year 1964. The article stressed that the inclusion of commercial banks and insurance companies hitherto omitted, and new companies which came into operation in 1964, resulted in a higher number than the 481 covered in 1964. This article is a report on Nigeria’s external trade in the first quarter of 1966 and notes that Nigeria's external trade recorded a marked improvement in the first quarter of 1966 over the positions attained in the comparable periods of the past six years. The article further notes that this improvement was maintained in each of the three months of the quarter. There was thus a trade surplus of £4.8 million during the quarter in contrast to deficits of £6.0 million and £8.9 million in the first quarters of 1964 and 1965, respectively as indicated in Table 1. In 1963 the Wasatch Division of the Thiokol Chemical Corporation, located twenty miles west of Brigham City, Utah employed approximately 6,000 workers. In December of 1963 the Defense Department phased out major activities in which Thiokol was engaged and during the next three year period about 4,000 workers were laid off. The greatest number of layoffs took place throughout the early months of 1964.

An important management practice within the 60-80 million acres of Pinyon-Juniper woodlands is to convert these woodlands to open rangelands. The success or failure of seedling adapted grasses in place of trees is contingent upon the revegetation techniques employed and upon fortuitous weather patterns. In order to formulate policy for Pinyon-Juniper control decisions, persons responsible for such policies need to know the risks of introducing range grasses into given areas. This thesis is essentially a hypothesis concerning the magnitude of such risks.

The Reclamation Ac t of 1902 was sign ed into law under the hand of President Theodore Roosevelt on June 17 of that year, culminating years of efforts to involve the federal government in reclamation projects. Prior to this Congress had enacted a variety of land laws designed to encourage private enterprise to develop the land and water resources of the nation, but had resisted using federal funds to construct reclamation works. The early land laws, however, served only as a temporary satisfaction to Western settlers, and Congress finally yielded to the pressure for assistance.

A monopolist, knowing the demand curve for his product, can in a given period produce the quantity of this product which will maximize his profit. Any larger or smaller quantity will result in less profit. When another manufacturer starts producing the same or similar product, a duopoly result. The new manufacturer, in order to maximize his profit, according to Cournot, will choose a quantity that is derived on the assumption that the original manufacturer's quantity will remain fixed.

Over the years, Utah has enjoyed the advantage of having natural agricultural resources that favor the production of livestock. Sheep and beef cattle do well on the desert and high mountain ranges that cover much of the state, Dairy cattle and wintering beef cattle use the alfalfa and native hay along with some corn silage that is grown in the irrigated valleys. Feed grains are grown in rotation with forage crops on irrigated land and also on dry land.
