As part of several lectures the audience in Australia, India and the U.S. were asked how the gain from an agreed upon cooperation should be divided among three individuals. The responses are considered in the context of various cooperative solutions which have been suggested in the theory of games. More questions are raised than answered.

A review of the professional literature on poverty in America shows that poverty is a particularly severe problem in New Mexico. Data from the Census of Population indicate that New Mexico during the past and until the present has been ranked among the top five states with high poverty rates. There is strong evidence that New Mexico with the desert land and its colorful population never had the opportunity to follow the rest of the nation and to enjoy completely the fruits of American prosperity.

Flat Plate Solar Collector Materials (And Designs With An Economic Methodology For Optimizing Collector Design), Michael L. Day '79, Donald S. Remer, Daniel Hyatt '82

The desirability of specific materials and designs for conventional flat-plate solar collector components is considered. Then a methodology for choosing the most economic component is presented, consisting of a computer simulation and a rate-of-return analysis. The effect of rising conventional fuel costs is examined. Examples of using the methodology are given, based on Southern California climatic and user-demand conditions. Selective absorber-plate coatings and film inner glazing are shown to be economic, yielding a rate-of-return of 23 percent and 29 percent, respectively.
