Covid-19 Pandemic And Ghana’S Economy: A Deep Dive Into Economic Indicators, Williams Kwasi Peprah, Isaac Anowuo [email protected], Ebenezer Owusu-Yeboah, Daniel Adofo Kwakye Ameyaw, Lucile Sabas

The study presents an in-depth analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on Ghana’s gross domestic product (GDP), balance of payments and international investment position (BPM6), and inflation (INFL). Employing a pre-and post-COVID-19 comparison (2017-2022) through repeated measures ANOVA and tests of between-subject effects, it investigates whether the government’s economic performance was significantly impacted. Key findings show a notable decrease in GDP and BPM6, alongside a major increase in inflation rates post-pandemic. The study concludes that the COVID-19 pandemic had a statistically significant impact on Ghana’s economic performance in terms of GDP and BPM6, but not inflation. Decentralized Voluntary Agreements Do Not Reduce Emissions In A Climate Change Experiment, Alessandro Del Ponte, Aidas Masiliūnas, Noah Lim

Can climate accords based on decentralized and voluntary agreements successfully reduce carbon emissions? We designed an economic experiment to study the effectiveness of the best-known mechanisms to foster international cooperation on climate change mitigation: climate pledges, financial penalties, and peer evaluation. We test each mechanism both separately and together. In the climate pledge treatments, participants could pledge their desired emissions target, approved by majority vote. In the treatments with financial penalties, failure to meet pledges triggered monetary sanctions. In the peer evaluation treatments, participants could evaluate each other, which determined who would receive an additional nonmonetary environmental prize. We find …

تستند الدراسة إلى تحديد وفهم مدى تأثير مؤشرات الكفاءة التشغيلية للبنك في القيمة السوقية المصرفية للبنوك المدروسة. تمثلت العينة ببنكان هما بنك الخليج التجاري ، والشرق الأوسط والتجاري في العراق ، تحلل بياناتها المالية من خلال الإجراءات الإحصائية ، فتبدأ الدراسة بفرضيات لاغية وبديلة. ابحث في القيمة السوقية لعينة البنوك ، ولكن قدم الفرضية البديلة لوجود وتأثير الكفاءة التشغيلية للبنك في القيمة السوقية لعينة البنوك. توصلت الدراسة إلى عدد من الاستنتاجات أهمها أن المؤشرات مثل الكفاءة التشغيلية للبنك لم يكن لها أي تأثير في القيمة السوقية. كما أسفرت الدراسة عن سلسلة من التوصيات أهمها ضرورة تدريب العاملين في المصارف المبحوثة …

Decreasing financial health damages an organization’s reputation and economic viability to survive. Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) leaders must strive to improve their financial health to protect their institution’s reputation and risk of closure. Grounded in strategic enrollment management theory, the purpose of this quantitative ex-post facto study was to examine the relationship between student enrollment, student retention, alumni giving, and financial health of HBCUs. The participants were 101 HBCUs collected from the National Center for Education Statistics and the Voluntary Support of Education databases, from 2020 to 2022. Indonesia has the largest coral population in the world, contributed as the world’s second largest ornamental corals exporter after Japan. Coral trade sparked the issues of habitat destruction, illegal trade, and coral health problems has prompted the government to banning of ornamental coral export. This study aims to find an empirical evidence does the policies mentioned above affect the condition of coral reefs in Indonesia. The author uses the Fixed-Effect Model on the Difference in Difference regression equation whose result show that export banning of ornamental corals does not significantly affect the condition of coral reefs in Indonesia.

In this paper, we explore the potential economic impacts associated with a major hurricane making landfall in Hampton Roads. We estimate the direct damages from a Florence-like Category 3 hurricane with a 3.6 feet tidal offset are estimated at $15.6 billion, equivalent to 10% of the 2022 regional GDP. If we apply existing flood insurance rates to these projected damages, we estimate that the total economic impact would exceed $12 billion with a short-term loss of more than 76,000 jobs. Subjective well-being (SWB) is often described as being U-shaped over adulthood, declining to a midlife slump and then improving thereafter. Improved SWB in later adulthood has been considered a paradox given age-related declines in health and social losses. While SWB has mostly been studied in high-income countries, it remains largely unexplored in rural subsistence populations lacking formal institutions that reliably promote social welfare. This paper argues that the mode and historical context in which piracy ascended in the Caribbean after the War of the Spanish Succession, as well as the historical interrelation between maritime technology and pirate tactics, coalesced into a diachronic Damocles Sword that resulted in the downfall of piracy in the Golden Age. Sanctioning piratical enterprises as a subconventional maritime strategy displayed a geopolitical reliance on piracy by great powers. However, the depraved treatment conventional sailors received across all major European navies generated a social stratum that eventually bore the Golden Age of Piracy, while simultaneously contributing significantly to British naval …

Low-altitude economy, as a typical representative of new quality productive forces and a strategic emerging industry, has become an important engine for promoting high-quality economic development and achieving technological self-reliance and self-improvement in China. This study systematically reviews the development trajectory of low-altitude economy, deeply elucidates the connotations and characteristics of low-altitude technology and its impact mechanisms on low-altitude industrial development, providing theoretical support for constructing a modernized low-altitude economic system. Privatization of environmental resources is a promising approach for mitigating the tragedy of the commons. The present paper focuses on the impact and theoretical underpinnings of privatization within economic structures. The first part lays out a strong ethical case against state ownership, rooted in the belief that the state's claim to ownership inherently involves coercion, which likens taxation to theft due to its compulsory nature. This study examines challenges faced by subsistence women entrepreneurs during COVID-19, the crisis of 2020, and their resilience in addressing the circumstances. The results of qualitative interviews with 13 subsistence marketplace women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh are presented in this article. In the current study, two themes are found to best capture the experiences and resilience of women business owners in the subsistence marketplaces. Furthermore, the study provides important insights from informant interviews, showing how women business owners navigate their operations during a pandemic. يهدف هذا البحث إلى تحليل تأثير تكامل الاستدامة في التخطيط الاستراتيجي على جودة المعلومات المحاسبية في القطاع المصرفي، حيث تم اختيار عينة من المصارف في سوق العراق للأوراق المالية، وذلك لأنها تعد تقارير الاستدامة بشكل دوري، حيث اعتمد البحث على المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، وجمعت البيانات باستخدام استبانة وزعت على 110 المحاسبين والمدققين والمديرين الماليين في تلك المصارف والمحللين الماليين ، حيث تم استرجاع 93 استبانة صالحة للتحليل، بنسبة استجابة بلغت 84.5%، وقد ركزت الاستبانة على قياس تأثير تطبيق استدامة التخطيط الاستراتيجي على تحسين جودة المعلومات المحاسبية، مثل الشفافية والدقة والموثوقية، وأظهرت النتائج أن دمج مبادئ الاستدامة في التخطيط الاستراتيجي يعزز …
