Dance in art can be seen in paintings created by artists such as Edgar Degas (1834-1917), Pierre Auguste-Renoir (1841-1919), Henri Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901), William Blake (1757-1827), John Singer Sargent (1856-1925), and Henri Matisse (1869-1954). Edgar Degas was a French Impressionist artist who was known for his work of arts featuring ballerinas. Pierre Auguste-Renoir was also a French Impressionist artist like Degas, but he was more so known for his real-life scenario paintings. Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, a French artist was known for his Art Nouveau and Post-Impressionist style. Toulouse-Lautrec illustrated some posters and paintings on Moulin Rouge. วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องแนวทางการสร้างสรรค์นาฏกรรมไทยเพื่อนำเสนอเครื่องแต่งกายประจำชาติ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความเป็นมาของการสร้างสรรค์นาฏกรรมไทยเพื่อนำเสนอเครื่องแต่งกายประจำชาติและศึกษาแนวทางการสร้างสรรค์นาฏกรรมไทยเพื่อนำเสนอเครื่องแต่งกายประจำชาติ โดยเป็นการวิจัยเชิงทดลองประกอบด้วยการค้นคว้าเอกสาร การสัมภาษณ์ การสังเกตการณ์ และการทดลองสร้างสรรค์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่าประเทศไทยส่งตัวแทนเข้าประกวดนางงามจักรวาลครั้งแรกเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2497 และเข้าร่วมรายการมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน ซึ่งมีการประกวดรอบชุดประจำชาติ ที่ผ่านมาการสร้างสรรค์ท่าทางลีลานาฏกรรมไทยเพื่อนำเสนอเครื่องแต่งกายประจำชาติแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ลักษณะ ได้แก่ 1) นางงามและบุคคลใกล้ชิดเตรียมท่าทางลีลานาฏศิลป์ไทยเพื่อใช้ในการประกวด 2) กองประกวดผู้ถือลิขสิทธิ์ของประเทศไทยส่งนางงามเข้าฝึกหัดท่าทางลีลานาฏศิลป์ไทยกับผู้เชี่ยวชาญเพื่อสร้างคลังท่าหรือโครงสร้างของท่าและกระบวนท่าสำหรับให้นางงามเลือกใช้เมื่อถึงการประกวด 3) กองประกวดผู้ถือลิขสิทธิ์ของประเทศไทยจัดหาผู้เชี่ยวชาญเพื่อออกแบบท่าทางลีลานาฏศิลป์ไทยสำหรับการนำเสนอเครื่องแต่งกายประจำชาติ ส่วนแนวทางการสร้างสรรค์นาฏกรรมไทยเพื่อนำเสนอเครื่องแต่งกายประจำชาติ ผู้วิจัยพบว่ามีปัจจัยที่เป็นข้อบังคับจากกองประกวดนางงามจักรวาลและผู้ถือลิขสิทธิ์ของประเทศไทยอยู่ 6 ประการ ได้แก่ 1) แนวคิดเครื่องแต่งกาย 2) แนวดนตรีประกอบการประกวดในรอบชุดประจำชาติ 3) ระยะเวลาในการนำเสนอ 30-90 วินาที 4) รูปแบบเวทีการวางตำแหน่งเมื่ออยู่บนเวที และมุมกล้อง 5) คุณสมบัติของนางงาม 6) วิธีการเดินของนางงาม เมื่อรวบรวมข้อมูลเหล่านี้แล้วจึงดำเนินการสร้างสรรค์ลีลาท่าทางโดยเน้นการเดินของนางงามผสานเข้ากับลีลาท่าทางนาฏศิลป์ไทยและการแสดงอารมณ์ความรู้สึกผ่านสีหน้าแววตา โดยคำนึงถึงการส่งเสริมแนวคิดของเครื่องแต่งกายให้ชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น

The Space Between Writing And Dancing: Dancingwords/Wordsthatdance, Lara Dorling

This practice-led research investigates the figurative space between writing and dancing through a looped feedback cycle. The project explores the ‘conversation’ between writing and improvisational dance and how it forms a responsive process named dancingwords/wordsthatdance. Conducted in sessions lasting 30 minutes at a time, this project asks: how can writing and dancing intersect to create a broader and clearer understanding of embodied knowledge, improvisation, creative research process and personal practice? วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่อง การสวมบทบาทนางผีเสื้อสมุทรในบทละครเรื่องพระอภัยมณี ของกรมศิลปากร มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษากลวิธีการสวมบทบาทนางยักษ์ผีเสื้อสมุทรฉบับกรมศิลปากร โดยมีการศึกษาจากเอกสารวิชาการ การสัมภาษณ์ การทดลองแบบมีส่วนร่วมและไม่มีส่วนร่วม การรับชมการฝึกซ้อมและการรับชมการแสดง โดยมุ่งเน้นศึกษากลวิธีการสวมบทบาทเป็นนางผีเสื้อสมุทรในบทละครเรื่องพระอภัยมณีตอนเพลงปี่พิศวาสถึงเพลงปี่พิฆาต โดยศึกษารูปแบบและวิธีการปฏิบัติของ อาจารย์ธานิต ศาลากิจ ข้าราชการบำนาญ สำนักการสังคีต กรมศิลปากร ผลการวิจัยพบว่ากลวิธีปัจจัยสำคัญสำหรับการสวมบทบาทนางผีเสื้อสมุทรนั้นมี 3 ประเด็นด้วยกันคือ 1. คุณลักษณะของผู้แสดงที่จะต้องมี เสียง ระดับกลาง เสียงไม่ทุ้มหรือแหลมจนเกินไปพูดชัดถ้อยชัดคำ ฉะฉาน ปฏิภาณไหวพริบที่ดีในการแก้ไขสถานการณ์เนื่องจากบทละครระบุให้มีเจรจารับส่งมุกตลกและใช้เพื่อดำเนินเรื่อง ฝีมือการรำที่สวยงาม มีจริตของตัวนางผสมนางยักษ์ วงและเหลี่ยมมีขนาดย่อมกว่ายักษ์ชาย การกระทบจังหวะหนักแน่น มีการก้าวข้างลงเหลี่ยมหลบเข่า กดเกลียวข้าง การชี้นิ้วมือ และรูปร่างใหญ่แต่สันทัด ส่วนสูง 160-165 เซนติเมตร โดยประมาณ 2. ผู้แสดงจะต้องมีขั้นตอนการสวมบทบาท โดยให้ความสำคัญกับการตีความบทละครอย่างละเอียดทุกคำ ทุกบรรทัด วิเคราะห์เพื่อประกอบสร้างนางผีเสื้อสมุทรให้เกิดความสมจริงตามบทละคร ขั้นตอนการสมมติบทบาทของผู้แสดงเป็นนางผีเสื้อสมุทรที่ผู้แสดงสร้างขึ้น การมุ่งเน้นอารมณ์เป็นหลักในการแสดงเพื่อถ่ายทอดความรู้สึกออกมาให้ได้อย่างเต็มที่ และการฝึกฝนจนก่อให้เกิดความชำนาญ 3. การแสดง ผู้แสดงจะต้องทำความเข้าใจวิธีการถ่ายทอด ตัวละครนางผีเสื้อสมุทรที่ผู้แสดงได้ประกอบสร้างไว้ ในรูปแบบของนาฏกรรมที่ใช้แสดง โดยประกอบไปด้วย ท่ารำในการตีบทแบบมีคำร้อง ท่ารำกาแสดงขยายความรู้สึก (แบบไม่มีคำร้อง) เพลงหน้าพาทย์ การเจรจาตามบท การแสดงขยายความรู้สึก (เจรจาแทรกบท) สามารถแสดงอารมณ์ได้หลากหลาย ฉับไวในการสร้างอารมณ์และพลิกแพลงอารมณ์ แยกแยะระดับของอารมณ์ตามความสัมพันธ์ของแต่ละตัวละครได้และสถานการณ์ การใช้อุปกรณ์ และการใช้พื้นที่เวที ผู้แสดงจึงต้องมีความเข้าใจและหมั่นฝึกฝนกลวิธีดังกล่าวนี้จนเกิดความชำนาญ จึงจะสามารถสวมบทบาทนางผีเสื้อสมุทรออกมาได้อย่างแยบยล

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ศึกษาเรื่องพัฒนาการของกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์การแสดงหุ่นกระบอกของคณะบ้านตุ๊กกะตุ่นหุ่นกระบอกไทย โดยวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาพัฒนาการของแนวความคิดและกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์การแสดงหุ่นกระบอกไทยของคณะบ้านตุ๊กตุ่นหุ่นกระบอกไทย ศึกษาจากการแสดงของคณะบ้านตุ๊กกะตุ่นหุ่นกระบอกไทยตั้งแต่ ปีพ.ศ. 2552 - 2564 และยังมีการศึกษาด้วยวิธีการสืบค้นข้อมูลจาก หนังสือ เอกสาร งานวิจัยต่างๆ การสัมภาษณ์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับ คณะบ้านตุ๊กกะตุ่นหุ่นกระบอกไทย การลงพื้นที่สังเกตการณ์การแสดง ผู้วิจัยมุ่งศึกษาคณะบ้านตุ๊กกะตุ่นหุ่นกระบอกไทยซึ่งก่อตั้งโดย อาจารย์ ดร. นิเวศ แววสมณะ ในปี พ.ศ 2540 เป็นคณะหุ่นกระบอกที่มีความหลากหลายในด้านของงานการแสดง และด้านองค์ประกอบของการแสดง ในระยะเวลา 13 ปี ตั้งแต่ปีพ.ศ. 2552 - 2564 คณะบ้านตุ๊กกะตุ่นหุ่นกระบอกไทย มีการแสดงทั้งหมด 19 เรื่อง ผู้วิจัยได้แบ่งแนวคิดการแสดงเป็น 2 ส่วน คือ 1.การแสดงหุ่นกระบอกไทยโดยการนำเรื่องมาจากวรรณคดีและวรรณกรรมท้องถิ่น 2.การแสดงหุ่นกระบอกโดยการนำเรื่องมาจากเนื้อหาที่ถูกแต่งขึ้นใหม่ การแสดงหุ่นกระบอกของคณะบ้านตุ๊กกะตุ่นหุ่นกระบอกไทยนั้นมิได้มีเพียงการแสดง หุ่นกระบอกไทยแบบดั้งเดิมเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่ยังมีการพัฒนารูปแบบของการแสดง เนื้อเรื่อง รวมถึง ตัวหุ่นกระบอกให้มีความหลากหลาย และดึงดูดผู้ชมได้ ทำให้คณะบ้านตุ๊กกะตุ่นหุ่นกระบอกไทย โดยอาจารย์ ดร.นิเวศ แววสมณะได้รับรางวัลต่างๆ มากมาย ได้แก่ 1. รางวัลศิลปินผู้อนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรมดีเด่น กรุงเทพมหานคร สมาคมโรตารี่แห่งประเทศไทย 2550 2. รางวัลศิลปินวัฒนคุณาธร กระทรวงวัฒนธรรม 2555 3. รางวัลดีเด่นด้านการอนุรักษ์ ฟื้นฟูมรดกภูมิปัญญาทางวัฒนธรรม กรมส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรม กระทรวงวัฒนธรรม 2558 4. รางวัลศิลปินผู้ประกอบวิชาชีพอนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรมดีเด่น กรุงเทพมหานคร สมาคมโรตารี่แห่งประเทศไทย 2559 5. รางวัล Mention Award การแสดงหุ่นกระบอกไทยเรื่องพระเนมิราช งานเทศกาลละครกรุงเทพ 2560 6. รางวัลครูช่างศิลปหัตกรรม โดยกรมส่งเสริมศิลปาชีพระหว่างประเทศ 2561 7. รางวัลผู้อนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรมยอดเยี่ยมโดยกรมส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรม ประจำปี 2561 8. รางวัล Silver awards & The Best beautiful costume puppet งานเทศกาลหุ่นนานาชาติฮานอย …

This document is a thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the Master of Fine Arts degree in musical theatre. It is a detailed account of author John Greer’s artistic process of creating the choreography for Disney’s High School Musical as a part of Minnesota State University, Mankato’s mainstage theatre season in the fall of 2022. The thesis chronicles the choreographer’s artistic process from pre-production through performance in five chapters: a preproduction analysis, an historical and critical perspective, a rehearsal journal, a post-production analysis and a process development analysis. In music, the word “tempo” refers to the speed or pace of the music (the number of beats per minute, for example). Tempo is surprisingly subjective, given that beat perception depends on age and cultural experience. Other factors besides beat (like the density of events per unit time) might influence how fast or slow people dance to music. Certain styles of music afford different speeds of dance, even when their tempos are the same.

My presentation explores the relation between American masculinity and film musicals. I demonstrate how the dominance of the musical at the box office in the middle of the 20^th century reflects historical events and technological change. Drawing on both scholarly and popular criticism, I show how the images of masculinity that Americans once encountered on the silver screen have transformed as musicals became marginal to popular culture in the United States. My research considers both classic 20^th century musicals, such as Wizard of Oz (1939) and 42^nd Street (1933), and more recent experiments with the genre, including …

This capstone thesis examines the question of how dance/movement therapy can be combined with tai-chi to support the emotional regulation of children who have experienced trauma. The paper examines a possible method that combines dance/movement therapy with tai-chi, grounded in the theories of Trudi Schoop. It highlights the application of tai-chi as a movement intervention that impacts participants ability to engage in treatment. Through the literature it was found that dance/movement therapy techniques of deep breathing, balance, and slow, rhythmic movements can impact emotional regulation. This investigation uses testimony to explore epistemic injustice as it relates to the author’s experience of living with endometriosis and the pursuit of professional licensure. The host institution for the study was an urban school district in the southern central United States serving 75,000 students, with 55% students identified as Hispanic, and 52% of students experiencing poverty. How we walk—or our inability to do so—is telling of who we have been. I propose this simple movement practice as a pedagogical engagement with the concept of faithful witnessing, which refers to attending to modes of power unbalance that might go unnoticed, and to people's creative and resistant possibilities (Lugones, 2003; Figueroa-Vásquez, 2015). This activity is suggested to provoke reflections about how we understand and experience social difference and power unbalances. Steadfast is an expression of dance as an emotional and spiritual experience, as well as an exploration of the deep connections that may be fostered through the art form of dance. My personal experience, which will function as inspiration for this choreographic piece and performance, has led me to see dance as a means to connect with God when used as worship and a way to connect with other people and form meaningful relationships.
