Squeezing In Constructivist Mathematics: A Second Grade Curriculum, Deborah Potvin

Graduate Student Independent Studies

This curriculum consists of a collection of mathematics activities intended to complement a standard second-grade curriculum. The activities within this collection focus on the topics and concepts addressed by a traditional curriculum; however, they allow the students to approach the subject from a slightly different angle. The problems, projects, and games create situations in which students can create their own understanding of numbers.

By providing ready-to-use, well-organized activities designed to promote constructivist learning, this collection aims to make constructivist mathematics accessible to teachers working within a more traditional curriculum. The inspiration for the activities within this curriculum comes from a …

World Class Curriculum – On A Budget, S Ping Ping Maj, B N. Tran

EDU-COM International Conference

Universities must compete in an increasingly difficult global market place. In order to successfully do so they must identify and profile market segments in order to achieve a unique selling position. Partnering may provide only part of the solution. The Cisco Network Academy Program (CNAP) is the world‘s largest network curriculum developed at an initial cost of US$75 million. There are advantages to becoming a Cisco academy such as access to on-line curriculum and low cost equipment. However, with over 10,000 Cisco academies world wide it is difficult to achieve a marketing advantage. Cisco provides low cost equipment but academies …

Where Are We Now?: A Study Of Gifted Program Availability By Region, Urbanicity And Ses, Elizabeth A. Romey Jan 2006

Where Are We Now?: A Study Of Gifted Program Availability By Region, Urbanicity And Ses, Elizabeth A. Romey

Perspectives In Learning

There is considerable diversity among gifted programs and program availability in the United States. This is at least in part due to the fact that there is no national mandate for gifted programming, despite the existence of the Javitts Act. Instead, decisions about gifted programming are left up to the individual states, which may then choose to allow individual counties or districts to set their own standards. This in turn creates a situation in which parents and teachers of the gifted have no ready access to information about the type of gifted programming options available in their area. Many of …

G06-1621 Soybean Inoculation: Understanding The Soil And Plant Mechanisms Involved (Part One Of A Two-Part Series), Lori J. Abendroth, Roger Wesley Elmore, Richard B. Ferguson

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials

Nitrogen gas (N2) comprises nearly 80 percent of total atmospheric gases, yet most organisms are unable to use N2 as a source of nitrogen. Legumes, such as soybean, are able to capture atmospheric nitrogen and utilize it through the process of nitrogen fixation. This NebGuide is part one of a two-part series on soybean inoculation. Here, we will investigate how soybean inoculation occurs and which environmental conditions impact nitrogen fixation.
