Institutional Legacy As Trigger Of Armed Violence Against The Police: Manifestations And The Underlying Factors In African Countries, Usman A. Ojedokun, Muazu I. Mijinyawa
The Journal of Social Encounters
Armed violence targeting police personnel and police facilities has conspicuously emerged as one of the dominant challenges confronting many police agencies in Africa. Consequently, police officers in African countries are increasingly becoming vulnerable to violent deaths and attacks in the line of duty. In view of this prevailing situation, this paper critically interrogates the nexus between institutional legacy and armed attacks targeting the police in African countries. Tom Tyler’s theory of procedural justice was employed as the conceptual framework for the discourse (Tyler,1990; 2003). Doubleday released Andy Greenberg’s Tracers in the Dark: The Global Hunt for the Crime Lords of Cryptocurrency in November 2022. Through vivid case studies of global criminal investigations, the book dispels myths about the anonymizing power of cryptocurrency. The book details how the ability to identify cryptocurrency users and payment methods successfully brought down several large criminal empires, while also highlighting the continuous cat-and-mouse game between law enforcement officials and criminal actors using cryptocurrency. The book is an excellent resource for law enforcement officials, academics, and general cybersecurity practitioners interested in cryptocurrency-related criminal activities and law enforcement techniques.

According to security experts, cybersecurity education and awareness at the user level are key in combating cybercrime. Hence, in the U.S., cybersecurity and Internet safety workshops, classes, and resources targeting children, adolescents, adults, and senior citizens abound. However, most cybercrime prevention programs are only available in English, thus, ignoring a substantial proportion of Internet users and potential cybercrime victims—Internet users with limited English proficiency (LEP). One tell-tale sign of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is the heavy reliance on electronic devices. Young adults in particular have indicated a greater presence on social media and high levels of loneliness during the pandemic. This trend has raised concerns about increased feelings of social isolation and reliance on technology, which could lead to more internet or computer crimes—including cyberbullying. For previously incarcerated persons, affordable and safe housing options are scarce. Barriers to securing housing include federal mandates (i.e., eligibility requirements) as well as local rules and regulations (i.e., zoning and ordinances). When housing is available, disclosing criminal history on applications impacts individuals’ chances to rent (Philips & Spencer, 2013). A lack of a consistent rental history, no personal and/or employment references, and securing capital to cover security deposits are added challenges. Formerly incarcerated persons face many barriers upon being released from prison–one of which is gaining employment. Obtaining a job can be difficult due to employers’ perceived employability of those who have been involved in the justice system. Organizational and personal characteristics of employers have been found in previous research to impact how likely an employer is to hire formerly incarcerated individuals. This thesis examines how stigma surrounding formerly incarcerated persons is perceived by employers through quantitatively examining employer demographics and their willingness to hire these individuals. This study examines the profound implications of criminal justice systems on marginalized communities. It also explores the numerous efforts to augment equity and justice within the systems. This paper critically analyzes the primary factors contributing to the disproportionate representation of marginalized persons within the criminal justice system, like system prejudices, racial categorization, and socio-economic inequities. The article accentuates the detrimental impacts of the disparities on marginalized populations, like perpetuating poverty cycles, stigmatization, and limited access to prospects. Our research focuses on the criminal victimization of policewomen by other police officers. The data derive from a larger nationwide study on police crime, or cases in which police officers have been arrested for the perpetration of one or more criminal offenses. The current study identifies cases involving policewomen who are victims of police-perpetrated sexual harassment, official misconduct, stalking, indecent exposure, simple and aggravated assault, and rape. The control, supervision, and rehabilitation of criminalized people often falls on the shoulders of non-state agents and organizations. Surety bail releases are a clear embodiment of this trend, as the courts call upon relatives, friends, and employers to supervise the pre-conviction activity of people accused of a crime. According to the law, sureties must report all bail violations to the police; the resulting diffusion of responsibility is said to increase the penal state’s power and control over criminal justice-involved individuals while minimizing reputational risks. Correctional education programs are rehabilitation programs designed for incarcerated persons in Nigerian correctional institutions. However, getting the graying incarcerated persons to participate in education programs becomes quite challenging. This study investigates graying incarcerated persons and education programs in one correctional centre. Data were collected qualitatively from fifteen (15) incarcerated individuals aged 60 years and above using semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis was employed in analyzing the data generated for the study. Findings show that there are no available education programs for graying incarcerated individuals. Scholarship on police misconduct has almost exclusively focused on urban police working within large cities. This study utilizes media-based data to describe 2,592 arrests for crimes committed by rural and small-town police officers working in non-metropolitan counties across the United States. We compared these cases of police crime to those committed by officers working within more urbanized metropolitan counties. Findings demonstrate: 1) the dispersion of cases of police crime across a continuum of geographic places and types of police agencies including the most rural counties, and 2) significant differences between metropolitan and non-metropolitan cases of police crime including both type …

The objective of this dissertation is to understand develop an understanding of experiences of online romance scam1(ORS) victimization and to examine factors associated with ORS victimization. The dissertation samples ORS victims and uses purposive sampling strategies to recruit participants. The research used a mixed methods explanatory design approach. Inclusion criteria included ORS victims 18 and older who lived in the U.S., lost any amount of money in ORS scam, and met the scammer on any Internet platform. The State of Texas supports the largest prison system in the US and held 132,859 people in 100 units scattered across the state as of December 2023. Approximately 70% of Texas prison beds are not air conditioned, despite the state’s reputation for dangerously hot, humid summers. The State has officially recorded temperatures inside Texas prison facilities as high as 120 degrees with heat index values of over 150. Employing an exploratory sequential research design, including focus groups and an online survey, this thesis explores the factors influencing how Japanese people navigate the gray zones of sexual consent. This study not only addresses gaps in the literature on sexual consent but also provides a preliminary understanding of Japanese individuals’ perceptions, beliefs, behaviors, and experiences in ambiguous sexual interactions, which is particularly meaningful given Japan’s recent legal revisions and changing sociocultural landscape. Findings indicated the impact of traditional sexual scripts on consent perceptions, with gender and relationship norms contributing to the dismissal of sexual assaults within specific relationships. The professional life of Hattie Plum Williams (1878–1963) epitomized the first generation of professional women sociologists on the Great Plains. At the University of Nebraska, she became the first woman in the world known to hold a regular appointment as chair of a coeducational, doctoral department of sociology (1923–1928). Often characterized as a social worker, her professional allegiance remained to sociology. Williams’ unsung labors in the early 1930s on behalf of the National Commission on Law Observance and Enforcement (NCLOE) resulted in two detailed, typewritten accounts of crime and criminal justice in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska. เหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงที่เกิดขึ้นในประเทศไทยสร้างความสูญเสีย ส่งผลกระทบต่อสังคมอย่างมาก งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสร้างฐานข้อมูลของการเกิดเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงในประเทศไทย วิเคราะห์ปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง และเสนอแนะข้อคิดเห็นจากมุมมองทางจิตเวชศาสตร์ ผู้วิจัยทำการศึกษาเชิงพรรณนาแบบย้อนหลังโดยรวบรวมเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงในประเทศไทยระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2537 - 2566 โดยใช้คำจำกัดความทางวิชาการสากล แล้วเก็บข้อมูลลักษณะทางประชากรและทางคลินิก รวมถึงปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเหตุการณ์ ผู้ก่อเหตุและเหยื่อ ผลการวิจัยพบมีเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงเกิดขึ้นรวม 78 ครั้งใน 30 ปีที่ผ่านมา โดยเป็นเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่ 65 ครั้ง และเหตุการณ์กราดยิง 49 ครั้ง ผู้ก่อเหตุสังหารหมู่ส่วนใหญ่เป็นเพศชาย (89.23%) ใช้อาวุธปืนก่อเหตุ (66.16%) มีประวัติการใช้สารเสพติด (27.69%) มีประวัติการฝึกใช้ปืน (20%) มีประวัติโรคทางจิตเวชที่มีความเสี่ยงสูงต่อการก่อความรุนแรง (7.7%) มีผู้เสียชีวิต 348 รายจากเหตุการณ์รวมทั้งหมด โดยสรุปคือเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่และกราดยิงในประเทศไทยเกิดขึ้นเป็นประจำและมีแนวโน้มเพิ่มมากขึ้น ปัจจัยสำคัญของเหตุการณ์สังหารหมู่ในประเทศไทยคือการเข้าถึงและฝึกใช้อาวุธปืน ปัญหายาเสพติด ส่วนประวัติโรคทางจิตเวชพบไม่มาก การสร้างฐานข้อมูลและศึกษาเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้ทางวิชาการต่อไป อาจนำไปสู่แนวทางป้องกันที่ดียิ่งขึ้นในอนาคต

บทความนี้เป็นการสำรวจแนวความคิดที่อธิบายปรากฎการณ์ระบอบการเมืองโลกหลัง “คลื่นลูกที่สามของประชาธิปไตย” ซึ่งพบว่าประเทศจำนวนมากไม่ได้เป็นไปตามกระบวนทัศน์การเปลี่ยนผ่านไปสู่ประชาธิปไตย แต่ตกอยู่ภายใต้ระบอบการเมืองที่เรียกว่า “อำนาจนิยมที่มีการเลือกตั้ง (Electoral Authoritarianism)” ที่เป็นการปกครองแบบอำนาจนิยมแต่ยังคงมีการเลือกตั้งแบบหลายพรรคและสถาบันการเมืองแบบประชาธิปไตยไว้ นอกจากนั้นยังพยายามอภิปรายถึงบทบาทของการเลือกตั้ง ที่โดยทั่วไปแล้วจะเป็นเครื่องมือในระบอบประชาธิปไตยหรือเป็นกลไกสำคัญในการทำให้เป็นประชาธิปไตย ได้กลายเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการปกครองแบบอำนาจนิยม เพื่อสร้างความชอบธรรมและการยอมรับจากประชาคมทั้งในและนอกประเทศ และสุดท้าย สำรวจวิธีการควบคุมบงการการเลือกตั้งและสถาบันการเมืองเพื่อรักษาอำนาจของผู้ครองครองแบบอำนาจนิยมไว้ต่อไป

บทความนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการวิจัย “บทสำรวจเบื้องต้นชีวิตของคนจนเมืองหลุดระบบ:กรณีศึกษา คนจนเช่าบ้าน/เช่าห้องในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร”ซึ่งได้รับการสนับสนุนจากสำนักสนับสนุนสุขภาวะประชากรกลุ่ม เฉพาะสำนักงานกองทุนสนับสนุนการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพ (สสส.) โครงการวิจัยชิ้นนี้เป็นงานวิจัยช่วงที่สอง ที่สืบ เนื่องมาจากงานวิจัย “การทบทวนสถานการณ์ปัญหาของคนจนเมืองหลุดระบบในประเทศไทย” ที่ได้รับการสนับสนุนจากหน่วยงานเดียวกัน เป้าหมายหลักของการวิจัยคือ การสังเคราะห์ปัญหาของคนจน เมืองที่หลุดระบบการช่วยเหลือจากรัฐซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของคนจนเมืองทั้งหมด คนจนเมืองหลุดระบบ เป็นกลุ่มที่ไม่ได้ถูกสำรวจในฐานข้อมูลของรัฐ ไม่มีนโยบายภาครัฐเพื่อดูแลโดยตรงและขาดการ ศึกษาวิจัยอย่างเป็นระบบ การระบาดของโรคโควิด-19 ยิ่งตอกย้ำให้มีสภาพความเป็นอยู่ของคนจน เมืองหลุดระบบให้แย่ลง การวิจัยครั้งนี้ใช้กรณีศึกษา และเก็บข้อมูลผ่านการสำรวจชีวิตกลุ่ม คนจนเช่าบ้าน/ห้องในพื้นที่กรุงเทพฯ โดยเน้นศึกษาคนจนเช่าบ้าน/ห้องราคาถูก ทั้งในและนอกชุมชนแออัด เพื่อเข้าใจระบบบ้าน/ห้องเช่าของคนจนเมือง และวิถีชีวิตของคนจนที่เช่าบ้าน/ห้อง การเก็บข้อมูล ดำเนินการผ่านการทบทวนวรรณกรรม ทบทวนเอกสาร และสัมภาษณ์ภาครัฐ ภาคประชาสังคม ผู้เช่าบ้าน และผู้ให้เช่า งานวิจัยค้นพบว่า กลุ่มคนจนเช่าบ้าน/เช่าห้องมีลักษณะขาดความมั่นคงในที่อยู่อาศัย ขาดนโยบาย และหน่วยงานดูแลโดยตรง งานวิจัยมีข้อเสนอว่า ภาครัฐควรกำหนดนโยบายด้านบ้านเช่าห้องเช่าและ ตั้งกระทรวงที่กำหนดนโยบายที่ครอบคลุมด้านที่อยู่อาศัยโดยตรง ทั้งควรขยายอำนาจการดูแลบ้าน/ห้องเช่า ให้รัฐบาลท้องถิ่น

จากการศึกษา พบว่า นโยบายการจัดการทรัพยากรธรรมชาติของรัฐ เช่น นโยบายทวงคืนผืนป่า การจัดที่ดินทำกินให้ชุมชนตามนโยบายรัฐบาล (คทช.) มาตรการการใช้ที่ดินในเขตลุ่มน้ำ เป็นปัจจัยสำคัญที่ทำให้ชุมชนบ้านกลางและชุมชนบ้านแม่ฮ่างได้รับผลกระทบทำให้เกิดการสูญเสียที่ดินทำกิน การสูญเสียวิถีไร่หมุนเวียนที่มาแต่เดิม และมีการห้ามใช้ประโยชน์จากป่า ซึ่งผลกระทบที่ชุมชนได้รับนำมาสู่การปรับตัวและการต่อรอง ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การปรับตัวของชุมชนบ้านกลางและชุมชนบ้านแม่ฮ่างมีทั้งที่เป็นไปในลักษณะคล้ายคลึงกันและแตกต่างกัน การปรับตัวที่คล้ายคลึงกัน คือ การลดจำนวนปีของไร่หมุนเวียน และการลดขนาดพื้นที่แปลง หรือเลิกการทำไร่หมุนเวียน แต่ความแตกต่างคือชุมชนบ้านกลางยังคงยืนหยัดทำไร่หมุนเวียนอยู่แม้จะต้องปรับรูปแบบและรอบเวลา ในขณะที่ชุมชนบ้านแม่ฮ่างหันมาปลูกพืชเกษตรกรรมผสมผสานและนำการท่องเที่ยวมาเป็นแหล่งรายได้เสริม จึงนำมาสู่การต่อรองของชุมชนทั้งสอง ประกอบด้วยการเคลื่อนไหวชุมนุม การต่อรองผ่านสื่อออนไลน์ การจัดทำข้อมูลชุมชน และการจัดการทรัพยากรของชุมชน ซึ่งการต่อรองเหล่านี้เป็นการเรียกร้องสิทธิของชุมชน และแสดงให้เห็นถึงการยืนหยัดต่อสู้ในการรักษาอัตลักษณ์และวัฒนธรรมของตนเองที่ชุมชนพิสูจน์ว่าคนสามารถอยู่ร่วมกับป่าได้อย่างสมดุล ส่วนผลที่เกิดขึ้นหลังจากการปรับตัวและการต่อรองของชุมชน คือหน่วยงานรัฐประนีประนอมให้ชุมชนบ้านกลางและชุมชนบ้านแม่ฮ่างมีสิทธิในการเข้าถึงทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ เช่น แบ่งพื้นที่ในการเข้าไปเก็บของป่าโดยไม่ต้องขออนุญาตแต่ต้องอยู่ในขอบเขตที่จำกัด และพื้นที่บางส่วนของชุมชนได้รับการกันออกจากพื้นที่เตรียมการประกาศอุทยานแห่งชาติถ้ำผาไท นอกจากนี้ทั้งสองชุมชนได้มีส่วนร่วมกับกรมป่าไม้ในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ เช่น การฟื้นฟูป่าไม้ การปลูกป่า รวมถึงการแลกเปลี่ยนและเรียนรู้ข้อมูลร่วมกันกับรัฐ ตลอดจนการบวชป่าที่รัฐได้เข้ามาร่วมพิธีกรรมด้วย ผลที่เกิดขึ้นทำให้รัฐไม่เข้ามาแทรกแซงการจัดการป่าของชุมชนมากนัก เนื่องจากเป็นประเพณีของชุมชนที่มีการสืบทอดต่อกันมาอย่างยาวนานและรัฐเริ่มเข้าใจในแนวทางการดูแลป่าตามแบบแผนของชุมชนมากขึ้น อย่างไรก็ดี รัฐก็ยังมีบทบาทหลักในการจัดการทรัพยากรผ่านกลไกของกฎหมายหรือนโยบาย และชุมชนยังไม่มีความมั่นคงในถิ่นที่อยู่อาศัยและที่ทำกิน ชุมชนบ้านกลางและชุมชนบ้านแม่ฮ่างยังเรียกร้องอย่างต่อเนื่องให้มีการจัดที่ดินทำกินให้กับชุมชนในรูปแบบโฉนดชุมชน และกระจายอำนาจการจัดการทรัพยากรสู่ชุมชนและองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น (อปท.) และถึงแม้บางส่วนของชุมชนบ้านกลางและชุมชนบ้านแม่ฮ่างจะได้รับการกันออกจากพื้นที่เตรียมประกาศอุทยานฯ แต่ยังมีพื้นที่ส่วนใหญ่ยังอยู่ภายในเขตอุทยานแห่งชาติถ้ำผาไท โดยอยู่ในขั้นตอบการตรวจสอบสิทธิ์เป็นลำดับไป

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อประเมินผลการอภิบาลระบบสุขภาพปฐมภูมิของโรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบลที่ได้รับการถ่ายโอนไปสู่องค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดในปีงบประมาณ 2566 ผลแห่งการทบทวนวรรณกรรมทำให้เกิดกรอบแนวคิดการวิจัยโดยการผสมผสานตัวแบบอภิบาลขององค์การอนามัยโลกกับตัวแบบระบบสุขภาพปฐมภูมิของไทยประกอบกัน ในด้านระเบียบวิธีวิจัย คณะวิจัยได้เลือกใช้วิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพแบบสำรวจและอธิบายเรื่องราวที่เกิดขึ้น (Exploratory with Descriptive Case Study) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การอภิบาลระบบสุขภาพปฐมภูมิของไทยยังอยู่ในฐานะเริ่มต้น กลไกต่าง ๆ ยังมีลักษณะเป็นเพียงรูปแบบมากกว่าแก่นแท้ที่เป็นสาระสำคัญ ซึ่งมีความจำเป็นต้องปรับปรุงให้ดีขึ้นทั้งในระดับพื้นที่ ระดับจังหวัด และระดับชาติ

บทความวิจัยนี้มีเป้าหมายเพื่อสำรวจแนววิเคราะห์หลังสังคมนิยมหรือหลังคอมมิวนิสต์กับการอธิบายการเปลี่ยนผ่านทางการเมืองและเศรษฐกิจของประเทศอดีตสังคมนิยมและประเทศสังคมนิยม และการปรับตัวเพื่อการอยู่รอดของระบอบสังคมนิยมในประเทศสังคมนิยม ผ่านการศึกษาประเทศสังคมนิยมในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ได้แก่ สปป.ลาวและเวียดนาม ด้วยการทบทวนเอกสารและงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง ผลการศึกษาพบว่า หลังสังคมนิยม หรือ หลังคอมมิวนิสต์ เกิดขึ้นในยุคปลายสงครามเย็นที่หลายประเทศสังคมนิยมปฏิรูประบบเศรษฐกิจและพัฒนาประชาธิปไตย จนนำไปสู่การศึกษาการเปลี่ยนผ่านและการทำให้(ประชาธิปไตย)เข้มแข็ง ที่เชื่อเรื่องความเป็นสากล โดยนักรัฐศาสตร์การเมืองเปรียบเทียบ แต่แนวทางดังกล่าวกลับได้รับการโต้แย้งโดยนักวิชาการด้านอาณาบริเวณศึกษาที่เชื่อเรื่องความหลากหลายและการเปลี่ยนผ่านครั้งใหญ่ หลังจากนั้นการศึกษาหลังสังคมนิยมจึงมุ่งเน้นการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางเศรษฐกิจ การเมืองและสังคมที่เกิดขึ้นในประเทศอดีตสังคมนิยมและสังคมนิยมปัจจุบัน

การวิจัยเรื่อง “จากจอบสู่จาน: เชฟส์ เทเบิล การกินอย่างมีหลักการ และภูมิทัศน์อาหารไทย” มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) ศึกษาการกินอย่างมีหลักการและรูปแบบภูมิทัศน์อาหารไทย (2) ศึกษาแนวทางการเพิ่มมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจการกินอย่างมีหลักการ และ (3) เพื่อนำเสนอแนวทางการพัฒนาการกินอย่างมีหลักการสู่การเพิ่มมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจ กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ เชฟที่มีชื่อเสียง ซึ่งเป็นเจ้าของร้านอาหารที่ให้บริการประเภทเชฟส์ เทเบิล และหรือเป็นผู้ที่มีการนำหลักเรื่องการกินอย่างมีหลักการมาใช้เป็นแนวทางปฏิบัติ จำนวน 5 คน วิธีการวิจัยใช้การสังเกตการณ์แบบมีส่วนร่วม และการสัมภาษณ์กลุ่มบุคคลสำคัญ ผลการวิจัย พบว่า (1) จริยธรรมด้านอาหารเป็นเรื่องเกี่ยวกับการเลือกที่เราเชื่อว่าดีและถูกต้องเกี่ยวกับอาหารที่เรากิน เชฟและผู้ร่วมงานสร้างสรรค์เมนูบนพื้นฐานของการคิดถึงห่วงโซ่อุปทานของระบบอาหารยั่งยืนที่สัมพันธ์ไปกับท้องถิ่น วัฒนธรรมและฤดูกาล (2) เมนูสร้างสรรค์ สัมพันธ์กับเรื่องราวของเชฟ ที่มาของวัตถุดิบ วิธีการปรุง วิธีปฏิบัติการเสิร์ฟอาหารและการจับคู่กับเครื่องดื่ม เป็นแนวทางการเพิ่มมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจการกินอย่างมีหลักการภายใต้ระบบเศรษฐกิจสร้างสรรค์ที่สามารถสร้างรายได้ให้กับธุรกิจอาหารและวิสาหกิจรายย่อย ควบคู่ไปกับการเชิดชูคุณค่าของวัฒนธรรมอาหารท้องถิ่น (3) การใช้ภูมิทัศน์อาหาร รวมถึงยกระดับอาหารท้องถิ่นมาสู่เมนูสร้างสรรค์ในร้าน เป็นแนวทางการพัฒนาการกินอย่างมีหลักการที่สามารถสร้างงานในชุมชนท้องถิ่นผ่านการผลิต/จัดหาวัตถุดิบ/แรงงานจากละแวกท้องถิ่น การศึกษาเน้นย้ำว่า การกินอย่างมีหลักการไม่เพียงแต่เป็นปฏิบัติการทางอาหารเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นตัวเร่งการเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจและการพัฒนาชุมชนภายในภูมิทัศน์อาหารไทย และยังแสดงให้เห็นว่า สามารถทำหน้าที่เป็นกรอบในการศึกษาวัฒนธรรมอาหารร่วมสมัยในมิติทางสังคมวิทยาและมานุษยวิทยาต่อไปได้อีกด้วย

บทความนี้ศึกษาขบวนการเอกราช Catalonia โดยศึกษาเรื่อง ความเป็นมาทางประวัติศาสตร์ ความรุนแรงในช่วงต่างๆของการเคลื่อนไหว ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการเคลื่อนไหวเพื่อเอกราชกับรัฐธรรมนูญ เหตุผลของประชาชนที่สนับสนุนเอกราช และสถานการณ์ปัจจุบัน ความสำคัญพิเศษของขบวนการเอกราช Catalonia เพราะ Catalonia อยู่ในประเทศสเปนซึ่งมีลักษณะคล้ายประเทศไทยหลายอย่าง (เป็นประเทศประชาธิปไตยใหม่-ประมาณ 50 ปี / ปกครองระบอบประชาธิปไตยอันมีพระมหากษัตริย์เป็นประมุข / มีมาตราห้ามแบ่งแยกดินแดนในรัฐธรรมนูญ) ปัจจุบันรัฐบาลสเปนใช้กฎหมายเพื่อห้ามการทำประชามติเกี่ยวกับเอกราข และจับผู้นำขบวนไปขังโดยตั้งข้อหากบฏเพราะทำขัดกับรัฐธรรมนูญ ขบวนการเอกราชจึงมีความเห็นว่าต้องตั้งคำถามเกี่ยวกับรัฐธรรมนูญเอง คำถามที่ถามไปยังศาลรัฐธรรมนูญคือ ในเมื่อรัฐธรรมนูญกล่าวในมาตรา 1 ว่าประเทศสเปนปกครองด้วยระบอบประชาธิปไตย ดังนั้นการจัดประชามติเรื่องเอกราชโดยอิงสิทธิในการกำหนดชะตากรรมตนเอง (ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของหลักการประชาธิปไตย) จะขัดกับรัฐธรรมนูญได้อย่างไร ส่วนประเด็นของการที่มาตรา 2 กล่าวว่าประเทศสเปนเป็นรัฐเดี่ยวไม่สามารถแบ่งแยก ก็แสดงว่ามาตราในรัฐธรรมนูญขัดกันเองและต้องแก้ที่จุดนี้ สิ่งที่ค้นพบจากการศึกษาการต่อสู้เพื่อเอกราชใน Catalonia คือ เมื่อขบวนการเอกราชมีที่ยืนในพื้นที่การเมืองและมีการถกกันเองภายในอย่างเปิดเผยเรื่องจะเอาเอกราชหรือไม่กลุ่มใช้ความรุนแรงผลักดันเอกราชก็ค่อยๆสลายไป ความรุนแรงที่เหลือคือการแสดงอารมณ์แรงในการถกเถียงกัน

จากการศึกษาวิจัยเรื่องนโยบายและการสร้างเครือข่ายลดความรุนแรงจากอาวุธปืน พบว่ามีนโยบายเกี่ยวกับการลดความรุนแรงจากอาวุธปืนมากมายหลายรูปแบบ โดยรูปแบบที่มีลักษณะชัดเจนและใช้ได้ผลจริงได้แก่ กฎหมายในรูปแบบใหม่ ๆ การนำนโยบายด้านสาธารณสุขมาปรับใช้ การใช้ชุมชนเป็นฐาน ส่วนนโยบายการป้องกันความรุนแรงจากอาวุธปืนที่เหมาะสมจะนำมาใช้กับประเทศไทยได้แก่ นโยบายที่ใช้ชุมชนและเครือข่ายเป็นฐาน นโยบายด้านการปรับพฤตินิสัยและสันติวิธี นโยบายด้านการใช้สื่ออย่างมีวิจารณญาณ นโยบายด้านการสาธารณสุขและสุขภาพจิต นโยบายการปราบปรามอาวุธปืนผิดกฎหมาย นโยบายด้านกฎหมายและการบังคับใช้กฎหมาย รวมถึงการสร้างชุมชนต้นแบบการลดความรุนแรงจากอาวุธปืนด้วยการทำข้อตกลงร่วมกันในชุมชน เรียกว่า “ธรรมนูญชุมชนลดความรุนแรงจากอาวุธปืน”

พิพิธภัณฑ์วิทยาศาสตร์เป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้ที่มีศักยภาพในการเป็นสถานที่บ่มเพาะความรู้และแรงบันดาลใจทางวิทยาศาสตร์ เทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมที่สนับสนุนยุทธศาสตร์การขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจของประเทศด้วยนวัตกรรมที่ช่วยเพิ่มมูลค่าสินค้า การดำเนินการภายใต้ยุทธศาสตร์นี้จำเป็นจะต้องให้ความสำคัญกับการพัฒนาแหล่งเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตทางวิทยาศาสตร์ให้มีลักษณะ รูปแบบและเนื้อหาของนิทรรศการให้สนองต่อการเรียนรู้และความต้องการของประชาชนผู้เข้าชม งานวิจัยนี้มีจุดประสงค์ในการศึกษาระดับการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับนิทรรศการวิทยาศาสตร์ของผู้เข้าชมชาวไทย พร้อมทั้งปัจจัยบริบทที่มีผลต่อการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับสื่อการเรียนรู้ในนิทรรศการวิทยาศาสตร์ จากผู้เข้าชมกลุ่มครอบครัวจำนวน 25 คู่ (50 คน) ภายใต้บริบทของพิพิธภัณฑ์วิทยาศาสตร์แห่งชาติ ทั้งนี้เพื่อกำหนดขอบเขตความรู้ความเข้าใจในปัจจุบันเกี่ยวกับพฤติกรรมการเข้าชมที่บ่งชี้ระดับความลึกของการเรียนรู้ในเรื่องที่เกี่ยวกับนิทรรศการ ตลอดจนปัจจัยที่ผู้เข้าชมระบุว่าส่งผลต่อการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับนิทรรศการ ผลการวิจัยพบว่าผู้เข้าชมกลุ่มผู้ปกครองและกลุ่มบุตรหลานร้อยละ 80 ขึ้นไปมีระดับการปฏิสัมพันธ์ต่อนิทรรศการอยู่ที่ระดับเปลี่ยนผ่านไปสู่ปฏิสัมพันธ์ที่ลึกขึ้น (Transitioning behavior) ถึงระดับปฏิสัมพันธ์ขั้นลึก (Breakthrough behavior) นอกจากนี้ผลการศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับนิทรรศการชี้ให้เห็นว่านิทรรศการวิทยาศาสตร์ในปัจจุบันต้องเพิ่มเติมเรื่องสื่อสารวิทยาศาสตร์ให้ผู้เข้าชมเข้าใจการประยุกต์ใช้วิทยาศาสตร์และความเกี่ยวข้องของวิทยาศาสตร์กับชีวิตประจำวันของตน รวมไปถึงการรักษาสมดุลการมอบความรู้และความบันเทิงในการออกแบบนิทรรศการ
