The Midwest Quarterly: A Journal of Contemporary Thought
in this issue. . .
THE MIDWEST QUARTERLY regretfully announces the resignation from its editorial board of Professor ROBERT BLUNK, whose increasing responsibilities as a teacher in the Art Department of Kansas State College, a consultant on numerous art projects, a member of the Kansas Cultural Arts Commission, and a practicing artist have left him, as he feels, with too little time for editorial duties which are growing increasingly heavy themselves. His successor has not yet been discovered.

Longridge: A Novel, Ted H. Christensen
Longridge: A Novel, Ted H. Christensen
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
This work is set in Iowa. The time is the summer of 1967. The town in which most of the action takes place is Thursten, a small, rural community in the western part of the state. Longridge Paha Hunter, the main character, is a young, uneducated man, destined to die a violent death. Since the story centers on him and his similarity to his great-grandfather, Old Man Hunter, he is ever-present. As Longridge struggles to develop a sense of pride in a hostile world, he must realize the haunting presence of his great-grandfather. When he finally does, something of himself, …

The Existential Elements In The Poetry Of Wallace Stevens, Patsy Satterly
The Existential Elements In The Poetry Of Wallace Stevens, Patsy Satterly
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
This study will deal with such existential elements in Stevens' poetry. The poetry will be treated in three main divisions: the early period of Harmonium (1923); the middle period of The Man With the Blue Guitar (1936), Ideas of Order (1937), and Parts of a World (1942); and the late period of Transport to Summer (1947) and Auroras of Autumn (1950). Two introductory chapters will precede the actual study of the poetry; one is a chapter on existentialism as it is expounded by Sartre and Camus, and the other is a description of the existential bias in Stevens' mind, in …
