The study investigated the provision of access to online databases for undergraduates of selected local private higher education institutions (PHEIs). The study was carried out in two phases. The first being an investigation on the types of access and usage supporting facilities that the sampled PHE is are providing for their undergraduates. An Online Postgraduate Course Registration and Payment System is developed for postgraduate students in the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM), University of Malaya (UM). It is a Web application development. The system is developed to facilitate student online course registration and payment of fees. The system overcomes the queuing problem during the course registration and fees payment. UM administrators can view, delete and update the course registration, student, and administrative record through the system. ASP (Active Server Pages) is used to develop the system. Microsoft Access 2000 is used to store the student database.

The objective of this research is to automatically segment the region of interest from medical images obtained from a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner. The Magnetic Resonance (MR) images of the human femur are used in the segmentation algorithms. MR images are complex images, providing details of different types of tissues. This poses a challenging segmentation problem. A region of interest (ROI) is therefore defined manually, in order to reduce image complexity. Kepentingan mewujudkan laman web perpustakaan akademik menjadi semakin kritikal dalam memenuhi keperluan maklumat institusi pengajian tinggi abad ini. Justeru itu, suatu kajian telah dijalankan bagi menerangkan pertalian yang wujud di antara pengguna dan paparan laman web. Analisis terhadap kakitangan akademik dijalankan bagi menentukan tahap keberkesanan penggunaan laman web. An important shortcoming of these portals is their lack of interoperable and reusable services. This paper presents an overview of research efforts undertaken by our group to build interoperating portal services around a Web Services model. We present a comprehensive view of an interoperable portal architecture, beginning with core portal services that can be used to build Application Web Services, which in turn may be aggregated and managed through portlet containers.

The objective of federation is to provide high-level services (e.g. transparent search across all DLs) on the collective metadata from different digital libraries. There are two main approaches to federate DLs: distributed searching approach and harvesting approach. With the increase in the use of Personal Computer (PC) firewall, this study looks at the security features provided by eight PC firewall; they are BlackICE, Deerfield, Kirio, MacAfee, Outpost, Sygate, Tiny and Zonealarm. The Nessus network scanner was used to probe these systems in a variety of configurations. The paper discusses the results and their implications for users of this new range of software.
