Typically, a firm's objectives include establishing consumer confidence, preserving its brand image, and developing a profitable business strategy. Consumers now place greater emphasis on the sustainability and transparency of their purchases. Given environmental and economic limitations, firms are often compelled to implement sustainable production methods. This is especially a struggle for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with new technology, as it can increase their risk of failure. This has led to a problem for consumers, who must cross-check the sustainability-related claims of the firms they buy from. This is challenging because of limited process trace data and restricted enforcement capabilities. …

Zero-knowledge Succinct Non-interactive Argument of Knowledge (zkSNARK) is a powerful cryptographic primitive that enables a prover to convince a verifier that something is true without leaking the private witness.Current zkSNARKs face significant computational costs in generating proofs, which restricts their use in areas like private payments, confidential smart contracts, and anonymous credentials. Private delegation offers a practical solution by outsourcing the heavy computation to powerful external workers without leaking any private information. In this work, we propose HyperSiniel, an efficient private delegation framework for general zkSNARKs that achieves a new feature called guaranteed output delivery (GOD). HyperSiniel is designed to …

Stacked From One: Multi-Scale Self-Injection For Context Window Extension, Wei Han, Pan Zhou, Shuicheng Yan

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

The limited context window of contemporary large language models (LLMs) remains a primary bottleneck for their broader application across diverse domains. Although continual pre-training on long-context data offers a straightforward solution, it incurs prohibitive data acquisition and computational costs. To address this challenge, we propose SHAREDLLM, a novel framework based on multi-grained context compression and query-aware information acquisition. SHAREDLLM comprises two stacked short-context LLMs: a lower model serving as a compressor and an upper model acting as a decoder. The lower model compresses long inputs into compact, multi-grained representations, which are then forwarded to the upper model for context-aware processing. …

Where Did It Go Wrong? Attributing Undesirable Llm Behaviors Via Representation Gradient Tracing, Zhe Li, Wei Zhao, Yige Li, Jun Sun

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capabilities, yet their deployment is frequently undermined by undesirable behaviors such as generating harmful content, factual inaccuracies, and societal biases. Diagnosing the root causes of these failures poses a critical challenge for AI safety. Existing attribution methods, particularly those based on parameter gradients, often fall short due to prohibitive noisy signals and computational complexity. In this work, we introduce a novel and efficient framework that diagnoses a range of undesirable LLM behaviors by analyzing representation and its gradients, which operates directly in the model's activation space to provide a semantically meaningful signal linking …

Propaganda Ai: An Analysis Of Semantic Divergence In Large Language Models, Nay Myat Min, Long H. Pham, Yige Li, Jun Sun

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Large language models (LLMs) can exhibit concept-conditioned semantic divergence: common high-level cues (e.g., ideologies, public figures) elicit unusually uniform, stance-like responses that evade token-trigger audits. This behavior falls in a blind spot of current safety evaluations, yet carries major societal stakes, as such concept cues can steer content exposure at scale. We formalize this phenomenon and present RAVEN (Response Anomaly Vigilance), a black-box audit that flags cases where a model is simultaneously highly certain and atypical among peers by coupling semantic entropy over paraphrastic samples with cross-model disagreement. In a controlled LoRA fine-tuning study, we implant a concept-conditioned stance using …

Llmqua: Practical Backdoor Injection On Large Language Model Quantization, Xiangxiang Chen, Peixin Zhang, Jun Sun, Jin Song Dong, Wenhai Wang, Jingyi Wang

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Quantization is widely used to enable local deployment of large language models (LLMs) on resource-constrained devices. Recent work (e.g., QuRA) shows quantization can be exploited via rounding manipulation to implant backdoors. However, such an attack has been evaluated only on small models and does not directly apply to LLMs due to three key constraints: (1) limited poisoning data from small, task-agnostic calibration sets; (2) layer-wise quantization restricting adversarial access to global representations; and (3) lack of gradient access in quantization pipelines, blocking gradient-based attacks. We propose LLMQuA, a practical quantization-phase backdoor attack tailored to the LLM setting. LLMQuA (i) injects backdoors …

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Since the launch of ChatGPT, a powerful AI Chatbot developed by OpenAI, large language models (LLMs) have made significant advancements in both academia and industry, bringing about a fundamental engineering paradigm shift in many areas. While LLMs are powerful, it is also crucial to best use their power where “prompt” plays a core role. However, the booming LLMs themselves, including excellent APIs like ChatGPT, have several inherent limitations: (1) temporal lag of training data, and (2) the lack of physical capabilities to perform external actions. Recently, we have observed the trend of utilizing prompt-based tools to better utilize the power …

Teamwise: Exploring Virtually Embodied Ai Facilitation For Video-Based Team Onboarding, Venkata Akhila Rani Obilisetty, Mikkeline Elleby, Anthony Tang, April Yi Wang

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

AI-mediated facilitation has emerged as a scalable approach to supporting onboarding and coordination in newly formed remote teams, yet existing systems are predominantly text-based. To explore how video-based, virtually embodied AI facilitators shape team experiences, we present TeamWise, which joins video-based onboarding meetings as an on-screen avatar. TeamWise guides teams through a structured facilitation flow of low-stakes activities to foster rapport, mutual awareness, and shared identity. While the overall sequence of activities and facilitation goals is predefined, the facilitator’s turn-by-turn utterances are generated dynamically by an LLM in response to participant input. We conducted a formative study of TeamWise to …

Thinktank-Me: A Multi-Expert Framework For Middle East Event Forecasting, Haoxuan Li, He Chang, Yunshan Ma, Yi Bin, Yang Yang, See-Kiong Ng, Tat-Seng Chua

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Event forecasting is inherently influenced by multifaceted considerations, including international relations, regional historical dynamics, and cultural contexts. However, existing LLM-based approaches employ single-model architectures that generate predictions along a singular explicit trajectory, constraining their ability to capture diverse geopolitical nuances across complex regional contexts. To address this limitation, we introduce ThinkTank-ME, a novel Think Tank framework for Middle East event forecasting that emulates collaborative expert analysis in real-world strategic decision-making. To facilitate expert specialization and rigorous evaluation, we construct POLECAT-FOR-ME, a Middle East–focused event forecasting benchmark. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of multi-expert collaboration in handling complex temporal geopolitical forecasting …

Reasoning On Time-Series For Financial Technical Analysis, Kelvin J. L. Koa, Jan Chen, Yunshan Ma, Huanhuan Zheng, Tat-Seng Chua

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

While Large Language Models have been used to produce interpretable stock forecasts, they mainly focus on analyzing textual reports but not historical price data, also known as Technical Analysis. This task is challenging as it switches between domains: the stock price inputs and outputs lie in the time-series domain, while the reasoning step should be in natural language. In this work, we introduce Verbal Technical Analysis (VTA), a novel framework that combine verbal and latent reasoning to produce stock time-series forecasts that are both accurate and interpretable. To reason over time-series, we convert stock price data into textual annotations and …

Bridging Bug Localization And Issue Fixing: A Hierarchical Localization Framework Leveraging Large Language Models, Jianming Chang, Xin Zhou, Lulu Wang, David Lo, Bixin Li

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Automated issue fixing is a critical task in software debugging and has recently garnered significant attention from academia and industry. However, existing fixing techniques predominantly focus on the repair phase, often overlooking the importance of improving the preceding bug localization phase. As a foundational step in issue fixing, bug localization plays a pivotal role in determining the overall effectiveness of the entire process. To enhance the precision of issue fixing by accurately identifying bug locations in large-scale projects, this paper presents BugCerberus, the first hierarchical bug localization framework powered by three customized large language models. First, BugCerberus analyzes intermediate representations …

Visual Loop: Bridging The Cognitive Gap In Software Development Through Visual-Ai Collaboration, Luis Filipe Fernandes Gomes, Xin Zhou, David Lo, Rui Abreu Apr 2026

Visual Loop: Bridging The Cognitive Gap In Software Development Through Visual-Ai Collaboration, Luis Filipe Fernandes Gomes, Xin Zhou, David Lo, Rui Abreu

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Software development remains predominantly text-centric, despite decades of evidence showing that developers think and communicate visually. While sketches and diagrams externalize developers’ mental models, they remain disconnected from source code and quickly become outdated. Recent advances in foundation models, capable of both code and visual reasoning, create an opportunity to unify these representations. In this vision paper, we introduce Visual Loop, a continuous visual development environment that keeps code and informal sketches in bidirectional synchronization. Our prototype connects a code editor with a tablet-based visualization workspace, allowing developers to explore, annotate, and modify systems through freehand sketches interpreted by multimodal …

Rethinking Artifact Evaluation For Software Engineering In The Age Of Generative Ai, Christoph Treude, Christopher M. Poskitt, Rashina Hoda Apr 2026

Rethinking Artifact Evaluation For Software Engineering In The Age Of Generative Ai, Christoph Treude, Christopher M. Poskitt, Rashina Hoda

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Peer review in software engineering research operates under tight time constraints, while generative AI has substantially reduced the human effort required to produce polished research narratives. Reviewer attention is often spent on aspects of submissions such as writing quality or literature positioning that have become relatively less effort-intensive to address, rather than on evaluating the scientific substance of a paper. At the same time, assessing whether methods are implemented correctly, analyses are sound, and claims are supported by evidence remains effort-intensive and dependent on human expertise. In software engineering research, this substance is frequently embodied in artifacts, including code, data, …

Refining Hybrid Genetic Search For Cvrp Via Reinforcement Learning-Finetuned Llm, Rongjie Zhu, Cong Zhang, Zhiguang Cao Apr 2026

Refining Hybrid Genetic Search For Cvrp Via Reinforcement Learning-Finetuned Llm, Rongjie Zhu, Cong Zhang, Zhiguang Cao

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

While large language models (LLMs) are increasingly used as automated heuristic designers for vehicle routing problems (VRPs), current state-of-the-art methods predominantly rely on prompting massive, general-purpose models like GPT-4. This work challenges that paradigm by demonstrating that a smaller, specialized LLM, when meticulously fine-tuned, can generate components that surpass expert-crafted heuristics within advanced solvers. We propose RFTHGS, a novel Reinforcement learning (RL) framework for Fine-Tuning a compact LLM to generate high-performance crossover operators for the Hybrid Genetic Search (HGS) solver, applied to the Capacitated VRP (CVRP). Our method employs a multi-tiered, curriculum-based reward function that progressively guides the LLM to …

An Agentic Framework With Llms For Solving Complex Vehicle Routing Problems, Ni Zhang, Zhiguang Cao, Jianan Zhou, Cong Zhang, Yew-Soon Ong Apr 2026

An Agentic Framework With Llms For Solving Complex Vehicle Routing Problems, Ni Zhang, Zhiguang Cao, Jianan Zhou, Cong Zhang, Yew-Soon Ong

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Complex vehicle routing problems (VRPs) remain a fundamental challenge, demanding substantial expert effort for intent interpretation and algorithm design. While large language models (LLMs) offer a promising path toward automation, current approaches still rely on external intervention, which restrict autonomy and often lead to execution errors and low solution feasibility. To address these challenges, we propose an Agentic Framework with LLMs (AFL) for solving complex vehicle routing problems, achieving full automation from problem instance to solution. AFL directly extracts knowledge from raw inputs and enables self-contained code generation without handcrafted modules or external solvers. To improve trustworthiness, AFL decomposes the …

Radar: Learning To Route With Asymmetry-Aware Distance Representations, Hang Yi, Ziwei Huang, Yining Ma, Zhiguang Cao Apr 2026

Radar: Learning To Route With Asymmetry-Aware Distance Representations, Hang Yi, Ziwei Huang, Yining Ma, Zhiguang Cao

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Recent neural solvers have achieved strong performance on vehicle routing problems (VRPs), yet they mainly assume symmetric Euclidean distances, restricting applicability to real-world scenarios. A core challenge is encoding the relational features in asymmetric distance matrices of VRPs. Early attempts directly encoded these matrices but often failed to produce compact embeddings and generalized poorly at scale. In this paper, we propose RADAR, a scalable neural framework that augments existing neural VRP solvers with the ability to handle asymmetric inputs. RADAR addresses asymmetry from both static and dynamic perspectives. It leverages Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) on the asymmetric distance matrix to …

Chain-Of-Context Learning: Dynamic Constraint Understanding For Multi-Task Vrps, Shuangchun Gui, Suyu Liu, Xuehe Wang, Zhiguang Cao Apr 2026

Chain-Of-Context Learning: Dynamic Constraint Understanding For Multi-Task Vrps, Shuangchun Gui, Suyu Liu, Xuehe Wang, Zhiguang Cao

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Multi-task Vehicle Routing Problems (VRPs) aim to minimize routing costs while satisfying diverse constraints. Existing solvers typically adopt a unified reinforcement learning (RL) framework to learn generalizable patterns across tasks. However, they often overlook the constraint and node dynamics during the decision process, making the model fail to accurately react to the current context. To address this limitation, we propose Chain-of-Context Learning (CCL), a novel framework that progressively captures the evolving context to guide fine-grained node adaptation. Specifically, CCL constructs step-wise contextual information via a Relevance-Guided Context Reformulation (RGCR) module, which adaptively prioritizes salient constraints. This context then guides node …

Resched: Rethinking Flexible Job Shop Scheduling From A Transformer-Based Architecture With Simplified States, Xiangjie Xiao, Cong Zhang, Wen Song, Zhiguang Cao Apr 2026

Resched: Rethinking Flexible Job Shop Scheduling From A Transformer-Based Architecture With Simplified States, Xiangjie Xiao, Cong Zhang, Wen Song, Zhiguang Cao

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Neural approaches to the Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP), particularly those based on deep reinforcement learning (DRL), have gained growing attention in recent years. However, existing methods rely on complex feature-engineered state representations (i.e., often requiring more than 20 handcrafted features) and graph-biased neural architectures. To reduce modeling complexity and advance a more generalizable framework for FJSP, we introduce \textsc{ReSched}, a minimalist DRL framework that rethinks both the scheduling formulation and model design. First, by revisiting the Markov Decision Process (MDP) formulation of FJSP, we condense the state space to just four essential features, eliminating historical dependencies through a …

Towards Efficient Constraint Handling In Neural Solvers For Routing Problems, Jieyi Bi, Zhiguang Cao, Jianan Zhou, Wen Song, Yaoxin Wu, Jie Zhang, Yining Ma, Cathy Wu Apr 2026

Towards Efficient Constraint Handling In Neural Solvers For Routing Problems, Jieyi Bi, Zhiguang Cao, Jianan Zhou, Wen Song, Yaoxin Wu, Jie Zhang, Yining Ma, Cathy Wu

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Neural solvers have achieved impressive progress in addressing simple routing problems, particularly excelling in computational efficiency. However, their advantages under complex constraints remain nascent, for which current constraint-handling schemes via feasibility masking or implicit feasibility awareness can be inefficient or inapplicable for hard constraints. In this paper, we present Construct-and-Refine (CaR), the first general and efficient constraint-handling framework for neural routing solvers based on explicit learning-based feasibility refinement. Unlike prior construction-search hybrids that target reducing optimality gaps through heavy improvements yet still struggle with hard constraints, CaR achieves efficient constraint handling by designing a joint training framework that guides the …

Rrnco: Towards Real-World Routing With Neural Combinatorial Optimization, Jiwoo Son, Zhikai Zhao, Federico Berto, Chuanbo Hua, Zhiguang Cao, Changhyun Kwon, Jinkyoo Park

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

The practical deployment of Neural Combinatorial Optimization (NCO) for Vehicle Routing Problems (VRPs) is hindered by a critical sim-to-real gap. This gap stems not only from training on oversimplified Euclidean data but also from node-based architectures incapable of handling the node-and-edge-based features with correlated asymmetric cost matrices, such as those for real-world distance and duration. We introduce RRNCO, a novel architecture specifically designed to address these complexities. RRNCO's novelty lies in two key innovations. First, its Adaptive Node Embedding (ANE) efficiently fuses spatial coordinates with real-world distance features using a learned contextual gating mechanism. Second, its Neural Adaptive Bias (NAB) …

Generalizable Heuristic Generation Through Llms With Meta-Optimization, Yiding Shi, Jianan Zhou, Wen Song, Jieyi Bi, Yaoxin Wu, Zhiguang Cao, Jie Zhang Apr 2026

Generalizable Heuristic Generation Through Llms With Meta-Optimization, Yiding Shi, Jianan Zhou, Wen Song, Jieyi Bi, Yaoxin Wu, Zhiguang Cao, Jie Zhang

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Heuristic design with large language models (LLMs) has emerged as a promising approach for tackling combinatorial optimization problems (COPs). However, existing approaches often rely on manually predefined evolutionary computation (EC) heuristic-optimizers and single-task training schemes, which may constrain the exploration of diverse heuristic algorithms and hinder the generalization of the resulting heuristics. To address these issues, we propose Meta-Optimization of Heuristics (MoH), a novel framework that operates at the optimizer level, discovering effective heuristic-optimizers through the principle of meta-learning. Specifically, MoH leverages LLMs to iteratively refine a meta-optimizer that autonomously constructs diverse heuristic-optimizers through (self-)invocation, thereby eliminating the reliance on …

A General Weighting Theory For Ensemble Learning: Beyond Variance Reduction Via Spectral And Geometric Structure, Ernest Fokoue Mar 2026

A General Weighting Theory For Ensemble Learning: Beyond Variance Reduction Via Spectral And Geometric Structure, Ernest Fokoue

Articles

Ensemble learning is traditionally justified as a variance-reduction strategy, explaining its strong performance for unstable predictors such as decision trees. This explanation, however, does not account for ensembles constructed from intrinsically stable estimators-including smoothing splines, kernel ridge regression, Gaussian process regression, and other regularized reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS) methods whose variance is already tightly controlled by regularization and spectral shrinkage. This paper develops a general weighting theory for ensemble learning that moves beyond classical variance-reduction arguments. We formalize ensembles as linear operators acting on a hypothesis space and endow the space of weighting sequences with geometric and spectral constraints. …

On Fibonacci Ensembles: An Alternative Approach To Ensemble Learning Inspired By The Timeless Architecture Of The Golden Ratio, Ernest Fokoue

Articles

Nature rarely reveals her secrets bluntly, yet in the Fibonacci sequence she grants us a glimpse of her quiet architecture of growth, harmony, and recursive stability \citep{Koshy2001Fibonacci, Livio2002GoldenRatio}. From spiral galaxies to the unfolding of leaves, this humble sequence reflects a universal grammar of balance. In this work, we introduce \emph{Fibonacci Ensembles}, a mathematically principled yet philosophically inspired framework for ensemble learning that complements and extends classical aggregation schemes such as bagging, boosting, and random forests \citep{Breiman1996Bagging, Breiman2001RandomForests, Friedman2001GBM, Zhou2012Ensemble, HastieTibshiraniFriedman2009ESL}. Two intertwined formulations unfold: (1) the use of normalized Fibonacci weights -- tempered through orthogonalization and Rao--Blackwell optimization -- …

Neutrosophic Probability With Dynamic Temporal Uncertainty (Nptu), Bhimraj Basumatary, Ashoke Kumar Brahma Mar 2026

Neutrosophic Probability With Dynamic Temporal Uncertainty (Nptu), Bhimraj Basumatary, Ashoke Kumar Brahma

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

This paper introduces Neutrosophic Probability with Dynamic Temporal Uncertainty (NPTU), an extension of classical neutrosophic probability that incorporates the dimension of time. In classical neutrosophic probability, the degrees of truth, indeterminacy, and falsity are considered static. However, real-world uncertainties evolve, and their degrees change as new information becomes available. NPTU models these uncertainties dynamically, allowing for more accurate decision-making in time-varying environments. The paper explores key mathematical properties of NPTU, including entropy, distance measures, similarity measures, and Kullback-Leibler (KL) divergence, to quantify and compare temporal uncertainty states. The proposed framework is demonstrated through a case study on stock price prediction, …

Double-Valued Complex Neutrosophic Graphs, Suriyakumar G, V. J. Sudhakar, Takaaki Fujita

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

This paper introduces a novel graph-theoretic framework, called the double-valued complex neutrosophic graph, as an extension of double-valued neutrosophic set theory. Within this framework, we investigate several important classes of such graphs, including self-complementary, strong, and full double-valued complex neutrosophic graphs, and establish a number of their fundamental properties. To clarify the proposed concepts and demonstrate their structural behavior, several relevant illustrative examples are also provided.

Neutrosophic Sets In Neural Networks: Theory, Applications, And Challenges, Vladimir Simic, Dragan Pamucar, Hafiz Muhammad Athar Farid

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

The integration of neutrosophic sets into neural networks presents a novel approach to handling uncertainty, indeterminacy, and falsity in data. Traditional neural networks typically operate under the assumption of precise and complete data, but real-world applications often involve noisy, incomplete, or ambiguous information. Neutrosophic sets extend fuzzy logic by incorporating three components: truth, indeterminacy, and falsity, allowing for a more nuanced representation of uncertain data. This paper explores the theoretical foundations of neutrosophic sets and their integration with neural networks, highlighting the challenges in computational complexity, training, and optimization. The paper also discusses the potential applications of neutrosophic neural networks …

Emergent Operator Logic: A Foundational Framework For Dynamic Reasoning And Generative Intelligence, Mona Gharib, Abduallah Gamal, Muhammad Nawaz, Basma Nasir

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

This paper introduces Emergent Operator Logic (EOL), a framework that treats propositions as continuous operators $F_p:X \rightarrow X$ on a complete metric state space $( X,d )$ and evaluates truth after action via a continuous valuation $V:X \rightarrow [ 0,1 ]$. Logical composition is realized by three operator-level connectives: sequential $p \circ q$(causal order), parallel $p\parallel q$(1-Lipschitz cooperative blend), and the emergent synthesis $E( p,q ) = \frac12( F_p \circ F_q + F_q \circ F_p )$, which symmetrizes non-commuting actions. We provide a Hilbert-style proof system (sound), an algebraic semantics via E-algebras, and show that the category of E-algebras is …

A Hybrid Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approach For Sustainable Forest Fire Monitoring Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Mohamed Eassa, Ahmed Abdelhafeez, Ahmad M. Nagm

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have become an effective tool for forest fire monitoring. This study evaluates UAVs for forest fire management, addressing the challenges posed by ambiguous and uncertain factors. Single-valued neutrosophic sets (SVNSs) are employed to model complex uncertainties, as they incorporate three distinct membership values: false, true, and indeterminate. The evaluation of UAVs is a multifaceted task due to the variety of factors involved. To address this complexity, multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods are used. Specifically, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) are integrated with SVNS to …
