Fault-Tolerant Control Method For All-Type Actuator Faults Of Evtol Aircraft, Juan Wang, Guorui Li, Zhiyong Fan, Huijie Chen

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: To address all-type actuator faults, especially nonlinear distortion issues, in multi-rotor eVTOL aircraft, a novel fault-tolerant control method was proposed. A fault function was established at the rotor speed level, and a fault-tolerant control algorithm combining dynamic robust nonsingular fast integral terminal sliding mode with a high-order finite-time disturbance observer was designed to achieve fault-tolerant control through rotor redundancy allocation. The nonsingular fast integral terminal sliding mode algorithm was improved, and a dynamic system containing actuator faults and their derivatives was constructed via a dynamic surface to achieve system convergence within finite time, avoiding the singularity and chattering problems …

Three-Dimensional Gaussian Reconstruction Of Large-Scale Scenes Under Multi-View Geometry Constraints, Haohao Cui, Yanqiang Di, Qing Liu, Xianguo Meng

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: To enhance the geometry reconstruction quality of the GS algorithm in large-scale scene reconstruction, an optimization method constrained by multi-view geometry reconstruction results was proposed. 2D Gaussian planes were used as geometric primitives to overcome depth anisotropy, and dense depth maps generated by DUSt3R and aligned by sparse point clouds were introduced as constraints. By designing a multi-stage optimization strategy that decouples geometry and rendering, the gradient conflict problem in multi-objective training was solved. Experiments on the MatrixCity dataset indicate that the method surpasses comparison methods in related indicators of geometry reconstruction quality and rendering quality in large-scale scenes. …

A Simulation Assessment Of The 'Law Of One Price', Caleb Wilkins Aug 2026

A Simulation Assessment Of The 'Law Of One Price', Caleb Wilkins

Computational and Data Sciences (MS) Theses

The ‘law of one price’ is an appealing notion regarding pricing of tradeable commodities that are priced in different currencies. It states that the prices of the same good in different markets should be equal after adjustment for exchange rates and that equality should persist through exchange rate fluctuations.

My research simulates the market conditions that should precipitate the ‘law of one price.’ Data was obtained from the simulated trade between algorithmic artificial intelligence agents that operated under induced boundedly rational market behaviors. Trade took place in two initially separate markets, a high-price market with a higher equilibrium price and …

Technique-Level Normalization For Cybersecurity Intelligence: An Empirical Evaluation Of Att&Ck Attribution From Hids Alerts Using Fine-Tuned Transformers And Metadata Re-Ranking, Emad Sherif

International Journal of Cybersecurity Intelligence & Cybercrime

Cybercrime investigations increasingly depend on the ability to interpret large volumes of automated security events. For organizations without dedicated security operations centres, a situation common among small and medium enterprises, the manual translation of raw alerts into structured threat intelligence represents a critical bottleneck that slows investigative triage and limits cross-case comparability. This paper evaluates an automated enrichment pipeline designed to address this bottleneck by mapping security events to standardised adversary behaviour labels drawn from the MITRE ATT&CK framework, supporting both operational response and cybercrime investigation workflows. We compare three pipeline configurations, a general-purpose encoder model, a cybersecurity domain-adapted variant, …

Non-Uniform Mixing Of Quantum Walks On The Symmetric Group, Avah Banerjee Aug 2026

Non-Uniform Mixing Of Quantum Walks On The Symmetric Group, Avah Banerjee

Computer Science Faculty Research & Creative Works

It is well-known that classical random walks on regular graphs converge to the uniform distribution. Quantum walks, in their various forms, are quantization's of their corresponding classical random walk processes. Gerhardt and Watrous (2003) demonstrated that continuous-time quantum walks do not converge to the uniform distribution on certain Cayley graphs of the Symmetric group, which by definition are all regular. In this paper, we demonstrate that discrete-time quantum walks, in the sense of quantized Markov chains as introduced by Szegedy (2004), also do not converge to the uniform distribution. We analyze the spectra of the Szegedy walk operators using the …

Research Collection School of Social Sciences

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly embedded within forensic psychological practice, shaping how criminal risk, legal responsibility and public safety are assessed. AI tools are now used in recidivism prediction, behavioural analysis, deception detection and investigative support, high-stakes domains where errors can have profound consequences. Despite this rapid adoption, the existing literature remains fragmented, with most reviews confined to narrow subdomains and offering limited integrated synthesis of AI′s broader role in forensic psychology. Thus, this umbrella review addresses this gap by synthesising findings from 43 reviews obtained from five major databases, namely EBSCOhost ERIC, EBSCOhost PsycInfo, PubMed, Scopus and Web …

Practical On-Device Intelligence For Resource-Constrained Embedded And Wearable Devices, Xiao Ma Aug 2026

Practical On-Device Intelligence For Resource-Constrained Embedded And Wearable Devices, Xiao Ma

Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)

Embedded and wearable devices increasingly rely on deep neural networks to support intelligent sensing applications directly on the device. However, building practical on-device intelligence remains challenging throughout the deployment lifecycle. Before deployment, models must remain accurate despite severe memory, computation, and energy budgets, and a single device often needs to support multiple sensing applications without deploying a separate model for each application. After deployment, the device continues to operate in changing real-world environments, where shifts in data distribution can degrade the model’s performance over time, so the model must be able to adapt to such shifts efficiently.

The first challenge …

Efficient And Universal Watermarking For Llm-Generated Code Detection, Boquan Li, Zirui Fu, Mengdi Zhang, Peixin Zhang, Jun Sun, Xingmei Wang

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Large language models (LLMs) have significantly enhanced the usability of AI-generated code, providing effective assistance to programmers. This advancement also raises ethical and legal concerns, such as academic dishonesty and the generation of malicious code. For accountability, it is imperative to detect whether a piece of code is AI-generated. Watermarking is broadly considered a promising solution and has been successfully applied to identify LLM-generated text. However, existing efforts on code are far from ideal, suffering from limited universality and excessive time and memory consumption. In this work, we propose a plugand- play watermarking approach for AI-generated code detection, named ACW …

Hvi-Cidnet+: Beyond Extreme Darkness For Low-Light Image Enhancement, Kangbiao Shi, Xiaowen Ma, Yixu Feng, Tao Hu, Peng Wu, Guansong Pang, Qingsen Yan

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Low-Light Image Enhancement (LLIE) aims to recover visually pleasing content and details from degraded low-light images. However, existing RGB-based methods often suffer from color bias and brightness artifacts due to inherent high color sensitivity. Although the HSV color space can decouple brightness and color, it introduces noticeable red and black noise artifacts. To address these challenges, we adopt the Horizontal/Vertical-Intensity (HVI) color space for LLIE, which is defined by the HV color map and learnable intensity. The former enforces small distances for red coordinates to alleviate red noise artifacts, while the latter adaptively compresses low-light regions to suppress black noise …

Task-Aligned Haze Removal With Semantic-Aware Fusion And Contrast Self-Correction, Jinbin Wang, Aiping Yang, Guosong Jiang, Wenlong Yu, Dongwei Ren, Qinghua Hu Aug 2026

Task-Aligned Haze Removal With Semantic-Aware Fusion And Contrast Self-Correction, Jinbin Wang, Aiping Yang, Guosong Jiang, Wenlong Yu, Dongwei Ren, Qinghua Hu

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Adverse haze conditions introduce complex degradations that obscure scene details and distort structural cues critical for object detection, posing persistent challenges for vision‐based sensing systems. Although existing haze removal methods have achieved notable improvements in visual clarity, their optimisation objectives are often misaligned with downstream detection requirements, leading to limited detection performance in real‐world scenarios. To address this issue, this work proposes a task‐aligned weakly supervised haze removal framework, termed Dehaze4Detection, which explicitly aligns low‐level restoration with high‐level detection objectives. The framework incorporates a Semantic‐Aware Multi‐Scale Fusion Module (SMFM) that embeds pixel‐level semantic knowledge into the dehazing process, enabling selective …

Parameterized Approximation Schemes For Fair Clustering In Doubling Metrics, Xiaoliang Wu, Ting Liang, Zhize Li, Qilong Feng Aug 2026

Parameterized Approximation Schemes For Fair Clustering In Doubling Metrics, Xiaoliang Wu, Ting Liang, Zhize Li, Qilong Feng

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Fair clustering has garnered considerable attention, with various fairness notions proposed to ensure equitable representation across demographic groups. In this paper, we focus on the k-center problem in bounded doubling metrics under two popular fairness requirements: group fairness and data summarization fairness, referred to Group Fair k-Center (Gf-k-Cen) and Data Summarization Fair k-Center (Dsf-k-Cen), respectively. Both fairness notions extend classical clustering formulation by associating each data point with a demographic label. Motivated by recent advances in parameterized approximation results for fair clustering, we investigate whether these problems admit Fixed-Parameter Tractable (FPT) approximation schemes in bounded doubling metrics. The previous algorithms …

Corruption Is Futile: Hardware-Assisted Multi-User Searchable Encryption, Feng Li, Chengyan Ma, Xiaoguo Li, Pengfei Wu, Lisha Yao, Jianting Ning, Guomin Yang, Jianfeng Ma, Deng, Robert H.

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Searchable encryption enables writers to upload encrypted data to an untrusted cloud server, while allowing authorized readers to perform keyword searches over the encrypted content without compromising data privacy. The multi writer/multi-reader (M/M) setting better reflects real-world de ployment requirements because it aligns with the collaborative nature of many modern applications, but introduces substantial challenges in both efficiency and security. The state-of-the art scheme, delegatable searchable encryption (DSE), achieves optimal search time and forward privacy in the M/M setting. Nevertheless, DSE provides only limited security guarantees: search tokens generated by readers reveal the update count of queried keywords, and the …

Sem-Pdpl: Semantic Exposure Graphs For Privacy-Law-Informed Risk Assessment Of Public Social-Media Data, Heba Ismail

All Works

Public social-media content often contains self-disclosed personal attributes that appear low-risk in isolation but become privacy-relevant when linked across posts, platform accounts, or user-level traces. Existing research has advanced privacy-sensitive content detection, de-anonymization analysis, social-media research ethics, and privacy-compliance workflows; however, limited work operationalizes how personal-data disclosures combine structurally and how these structures can be translated into auditable governance actions. This paper proposes SEM-PDPL, a computational, privacy-law-informed risk-assessment framework for modeling public social-media exposure as semantic exposure graphs and mapping graph patterns to controls aligned with the United Arab Emirates Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and compatible with GDPR principles. …

Where Do Ai Coding Agents Fail? An Empirical Study Of Failed Agentic Pull Requests In Github, Ramtin Ehsani, Sakshi Pathak, Shriya Rawal, Abdullah Al Mujahid, Mia Mohammad Imran, Preetha Chatterjee

Computer Science Faculty Research & Creative Works

AI coding agents are now submitting pull requests (PRs) to software projects, acting not just as assistants but as autonomous contributors. As these agentic contributions are rapidly increasing across real repositories, little is known about how they behave in practice and why many of them fail to be merged. In this paper, we conduct a large-scale study of 33k agent-authored PRs made by five coding agents across GitHub. (RQ1) We first quantitatively characterize merged and not-merged PRs along four broad dimensions: 1) merge outcomes across task types, 2) code changes, 3) CI build results, and 4) review dynamics. We observe …

A Fuzzy–Neutrosophic Suitability Index For Selecting An Appropriate Reasoning Model Under Vagueness, Incompleteness, And Conflict, Nada A. Nabeeh, Ahmed Samy Jul 2026

A Fuzzy–Neutrosophic Suitability Index For Selecting An Appropriate Reasoning Model Under Vagueness, Incompleteness, And Conflict, Nada A. Nabeeh, Ahmed Samy

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Fuzzy reasoning and neutrosophic reasoning are both used to handle uncertainty, but they are not intended for the same uncertainty structure. Fuzzy reasoning is suitable when uncertainty appears mainly as gradual vagueness, where a value may belong to a concept such as ``high risk'' or ``good performance'' to a certain degree. In this case, a membership value is often sufficient. Neutrosophic reasoning is more suitable when the problem also contains incomplete information, undecided evidence, or conflict between sources. In such cases, one membership degree may be too limited because it cannot represent support, rejection, and indeterminacy separately. This study introduces …

Foundations Of Neutrosophic N-Semirings Theory And Structural Properties, Raja Muhammad Hashim, Muhammad Gulistan, Muhammad Shahzad

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

In this paper the concept of neutrosophic n-semirings (S∪ I, ∗ 1, ∗ 2, ∗ 3,..., ∗ n, ∗ n+1) has been introduced. The substructure of n-semirings (S∪ I, ∗ 1, ∗ 2, ∗ 3,..., ∗ n, ∗ n+1) has been defined and some useful results have been proved. Moreover, in order to familiarize the readers with these concepts some worthy examples have been coined. The left, right and two sided ideals of neutrosophic n-semirings have been paid a special heed. Finally we have turned our discussion towards the compatible and congruence …

Neutrosophic Time-Truncated Acceptance Sampling Plans Based On The Exponentiated Weibull Distribution For Reliability Applications, Divya P.R., Preethi John Jul 2026

Neutrosophic Time-Truncated Acceptance Sampling Plans Based On The Exponentiated Weibull Distribution For Reliability Applications, Divya P.R., Preethi John

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Classical acceptance sampling plans require precisely specified parameter values, an assumption routinely violated by measurement uncertainty and gauge imprecision in practice. This article develops Neutrosophic Time-Truncated Acceptance Sampling Plans (N-TTASP) for the Exponentiated Weibull (EW) distribution by representing the scale parameter as a neutrosophic interval. The neutrosophic sample size nN ∈ [nL, nU] and acceptance number cN ∈ [cL, cU] are obtained by minimizing n_U subject to dual producer and consumer risk constraints on the neutrosophic Operating Characteristic interval. A new indeterminacy ratio η is introduced as a …

Evaluating Generative Ai-Based User Interfaces Using An Integrated Neutrosophic Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Framework, Nada Mohamed, Alshaimaa A. Tantawy

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

User Interface (UI) design can be seen as an essential aspect of human-computer interaction (HCI) and makes communication easier between people and technology. In today's digital economy, interface quality has become one of the most important business concerns, since it has a direct impact on customer satisfaction and retention while affecting revenue. Although creating user-centered and accessible interfaces is crucial, doing so is a difficult and time-consuming process, which leads to burnout for many usability professionals. Although conventional artificial intelligence (AI) was utilized for design assessment and automation, the arrival of generative AI technology has created new possibilities for automated …

Digraphicsoft Sets And Bidigraphicsoft Sets: Directed And Bidirected Extensions Of Graphicsoft Modeling, Takaaki Fujita, Ajoy Kanti Das, Suman Das, Sankar Prasad Mondal, Volkan Duran, Mithun Datta

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Uncertainty has been modeled through a wide variety of mathematical frameworks, including fuzzy sets, neutrosophic sets, rough sets, and plithogenic sets. Among these approaches, soft sets offer a parameterized representation of uncertain information and have inspired numerous extensions, such as multisoft sets, double-framed soft sets, hypersoft sets, SuperHyperSoft sets, TreeSoft sets, ForestSoft sets, IndetermSoft sets, and IndetermHyperSoft sets.
This paper focuses on GraphicSoft Sets, which extend the classical soft-set framework by assigning a subset of the universe to each subgraph of an attribute graph. In this way, relationships among attributes are incorporated directly into the parameterized model. Building on …

Vision Transformers And Convolutional Neural Networks For Land Use Scene Classification, Arun D. Kulkarni

Computer Science Faculty Publications and Presentations

Land use scene classification (LUSC) from remote sensing imagery plays a critical role in environmental monitoring, urban planning, and sustainable resource management. In recent years, deep learning methods have significantly advanced the state-of-the-art, with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) dominating the field because of their strong ability to capture local spatial features. However, the emergence of Vision Transformers (ViTs) has introduced a new paradigm that models long-range dependencies through self attention mechanisms, potentially enabling improved global context understanding. This study presents a comparative assessment of Vision Transformers and CNN-based architectures for remote sensing land use scene classification. Representative CNN models, such …

Attention-Based Ensemble Deep Learning Model For Arabic And English Fake News Classification, Ameer Alhaq Alshamery Jul 2026

Attention-Based Ensemble Deep Learning Model For Arabic And English Fake News Classification, Ameer Alhaq Alshamery

Journal of Intelligent Informatics, Networking, and Cybersecurity

It is difficult to classify articles as fake news since one article may consist of true facts with only some statements being fake. Moreover, classification becomes complicated for the Arabic language owing to its morphology and several ways of spelling, as well as the lack of well-classified and marked data sets. This paper presents an Ensemble Deep Learning Model (EDLM) used for Arabic and English fake news classification. The EDLM consists of CNN, Bi-LSTM with attention, and Bi-GRU with attention networks. Each of them produces one probability of the article, which is then summed up to a final probability via …

Athlete development within collegiate sports communities requires informed decisions regarding the prioritization of coaching interventions and allocation of developmental resources. However, such decisions are frequently guided by experience and intuition, limiting opportunities for systematic and evidence-based decision-making. This study develops a mathematical decision-making framework for athlete development by integrating statistical analysis and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) within a collegiate taekwondo community. Data were collected from 25 collegiate taekwondo athletes who satisfied established eligibility criteria, including participation in University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) competitions during the previous three seasons. Athletes evaluated coaching practices across five dimensions: Training and …

A Data-Driven Framework For Mitigating Breast Cancer Overdiagnosis: From Estimation To Risk-Adjusted Computer-Aided Diagnosis, William M. Brown Jr. Jul 2026

A Data-Driven Framework For Mitigating Breast Cancer Overdiagnosis: From Estimation To Risk-Adjusted Computer-Aided Diagnosis, William M. Brown Jr.

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

In Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) of cancer, standard cost metrics (false-positives and false-negatives) fundamentally fail to account for overdiagnosis. Overdiagnosis is a critical scenario where a disease is correctly detected (true-positive) but is biologically indolent and would never have caused the patient harm or symptoms. While widely recognized in the medical community as a major healthcare crisis driving stressful and invasive overtreatment, overdiagnosis remains severely under-researched within computer science and engineering. This dissertation addresses this interdisciplinary gap by defining the three key computational challenges of overdiagnosis: (i) accurate estimation, (ii) harm quantification, and (iii) algorithmic mitigation. To overcome the estimation challenge, …
