Queer And Trans Prison Voices: A Podcast Archive On Prison Abolition, Josefine Ziebell

This capstone project is located at the intersection of Critical Prison Studies, Gender Studies, Sound Studies, and American Studies. It highlights the importance of sonic modes of anti-carceral resistance by featuring the recorded voices of incarcerated people through the creation of a sonic archive of prison writings. By integrating that sonic archive into the podcast medium, this project functions as a digital archive for incarcerated voices, consisting of two tracks: a collection of short-spoken readings by queer and transgender incarcerated authors, and podcast-style interviews with activist scholars, organizations, and sound artists working towards prison abolition. Screen Time And The Psychological Well-Being Of U.S. Teenagers: An Exploratory Re-Analysis Of Data From The Youth Risk Behavior Survey, Russell Miller

Numerous studies, notably secondary analyses of survey data, have examined the possibility of adverse effects from teenagers' use of digital screen-based media--with correspondingly diverse findings. One research group in particular, led by Jean M. Twenge, has been prolific and forceful in associating adolescents’ screen time with reported increases in depression, suicidal ideation, and attempted suicide. Others have pointed to small effect sizes, construct validity issues, and other methodological problems in the Twenge research. However, one characteristic of the group's analyses of survey data, including data from the CDC's Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), has remained unexplored: the use of metric …

The recent boom in popularity of the social media app TikTok has provided more opportunities for users in a committed relationship to express their love to their partner through features such as video sharing, tagging, or creating content together. The purpose of this study is to learn how romantic partners use TikTok to support relationship maintenance; in addition, this study draws on research related to the five love languages to gauge how romantic partners express their love for each other using TikTok. Prosocial behavior requires competency in social-emotional skills including interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation. During the developmental stage of early adolescence, youth are learning these skills and are more likely to engage in prosocial behavior if they feel efficacious in them. However, most social-emotional learning programs focus on conceptual knowledge in these areas without providing sufficient opportunities for practice, which does not allow students to develop sufficient procedural knowledge and self-efficacy. Improvisational theater offers a solution to this problem; used in concert with social-emotional lessons, it provides practice scenarios and procedural learning opportunities. Based on Dwight Conquergood's key concepts of play, power, process, and poetics/language, this paper documents the theater-pedagogical model project Fluchtpunkt Magdeburg 2015 to2019, in which young people with and without refugee experiences living in Magdeburg, Germany, developed three plays and a film under dance- and theater-pedagogical direction with the pronounced goal of promoting social and linguistic integration. The aim of this documentation is to systematically describe the project and to identify successful elements that make future projects sustainable and feasible for planning and implementation in the long term.

This project focuses its discussion within the discipline of folklore by identifying Wattpad.com as a contemporary medium of online folkloric content. Wattpad provides its users with a text-based—and sometimes multimodal—means of communication via its interface that mimics traditional communication as we know it—a means founded in orality, literacy, and the archive. งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสร้างสรรค์ โดยระเบียบวิธีวิจัยที่ใช้ แบ่งออกเป็น 3 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ 1. การศึกษาแนวคิดจากกรณีตัวอย่างนิทรรศการที่เกี่ยวกับเศรษฐกิจสร้างสรรค์และนิทรรศการที่ประยุกต์ใช้ทรานส์มีเดียจากคลังข้อมูลของศูนย์ออกแบบงานสร้างสรรค์ (Creative Economic Agency) รวมถึงการสัมภาษณ์เพื่อสอบถามถึงเบื้องหลังในการออกแบบนิทรรศการเพื่อส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมสร้างสรรค์ 2.การออกแบบนิทรรศการเชิงทดลอง ซึ่งมีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับเศรษฐกิจสร้างสรรค์โดยเฉพาะบริบทดนตรีทางเลือก โดยประยุกต์ใช้แนวคิดทรานส์มีเดียในการเล่าเรื่อง 3.การทดสอบประสิทธิภาพของการออกแบบโดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (qualitative research) ผ่านการสัมภาษณ์กลุ่มผู้เข้าชมนิทรรศการ และการสัมภาษณ์รายบุคคลจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญในด้านสื่อและนิทรรศการ โดยวิเคราะห์ เชื่อมโยง และสรุปผล ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นิทรรศการที่เล่าเรื่องแบบทรานส์มีเดีย อาศัยคุณลักษณะสองประการ ได้แก่ การปฏิสัมพันธ์ (interactive) และ ความดื่มด่ำ (immersive) เพื่อนำผู้ชมนำไปสู่การสร้างพื้นที่แห่งการมีส่วนร่วม ในด้านการรับรู้เนื้อหาที่เกี่ยวกับอุตสาหกรรมดนตรีนอกกระแส พบว่า ผู้ชมส่วนใหญ่สามารถเข้าใจเนื้อหาที่เกี่ยวกับดนตรีนอกกระแส โดยให้ความสนใจกับเนื้อหาที่สร้างสรรค์โดยผู้ชมคนอื่น โดยนอกจากการสื่อสารจะนำไปสู่การรับรู้ความหลากหลายของดนตรีนอกกระแสแล้ว เรื่องเล่าที่ประกฎในนิทรรศการยังนำไปสู่ข้อถกเถียงทางสังคม (public discussion) ที่เปิดประเด็นที่เกี่ยวข้องกับข้อถกเถียงในเชิงโครงสร้างของอุตสาหกรรมดนตรีในบริบทของไทย

Covid-19 News Frames In Sports Headlines In England: A Content Analysis, Yazeed Aljasser
International Crisis and Risk Communication Conference
This study examined the nature of sports reporting of COVID19 in England by employing framing analysis on a sample of five newspapers. Through a quantitative content analysis, this study revealed how sports news coverage framed the COVID19 virus in these newspapers: The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mirror, The Daily Mail, and the Sun. The findings revealed that Competition and Players and Staff frames were the Major frames in the headlines media news organizations reported on COVID19. Implications and future research needs are discussed.

This article emanates from a geospatial database of over 600 premieres of the Cines company’s Quo Vadis? (1913), an eight-reel film distributed by George Kleine, and nearly 250 premieres of the Quo Vadis Film Company’s Quo Vadis? (1913), a three-reel film of ambiguous origins distributed by Paul De Outo. By mapping local premieres of both films across the United States from 1913 through 1916, the data show with spatiotemporal precision the spread of Quo Vadis? as one of cinema’s early blockbuster titles. This project examines the State’s use of sound technologies in particular to conjure affects facilitative of the maintenance and control of human bodies and political activities. In tension with this current, it will also study the subversion of sonic war machinery by cultural workers and musicians in the production of transnational political solidarities against the state militarization/securitization of life and preemption/commodification of death–a socio-economic paradigm fed by the (neo)colonial underbellies of capitalist modernity, from the Transatlantic Slave Trade to the colonization and military exploitation of the ‘Middle East’.

Because of the gatekeeping practices of the Hollywood film industry, and the high cost of both filmmaking and distribution in general, Afro-American filmmakers have struggled to produce films with “global reach.” This study visits the possibility of Afro-American filmmakers using alternative technologies and infrastructures to produce high-quality films, thereby bypassing the high cost and exclusionary practices of Hollywood studios. Using new 21st-century digital technology, this study involved the creation of a small geographically dispersed virtual film production team.
