The primary purpose of Emotional Expressionism: Television Serialization, The Melodramatic Mode, and Socioemotionality is to explore the forms, functions, and nuances of emotions in popular, mediated narratives. Clearly, emotions constitute a key means by which audiences experience and make sense of narrative media, in that mediated stories make compelling arguments or take up resonant positions through their emotional methods and meanings. The value of developing an emotional template for screen media lies in generating new analytical and interpretative approaches to narrative aesthetics, especially in terms of their pains and pleasures. The aim of this study was to answer the following question: Between November 2020 and November 2021, were Chinese Americans discursively excluded from New York City’s political media landscape? The Chinese American experience has been punctuated with countless examples of faith and investment in the American ideal. Despite that fact, it has also been marred with periods in which that faith was tested and in which the return on their investment fell short of expectations. Based on the two-step flow model, this study examines how social media influencers manage brands through three aspects, including content strategies, engagement, and interactivity. A content analysis was conducted to compare content marketing strategies and levels of engagement and interactivity between popular and unpopular creators. The results show popular creators post more often, post more promotional content, interact less, but receive positive praise from their followers. Their followers are more engaged. The Instagram posts tend to imitate celebrity sites and often use professional photographers rather than photos from mobile devices. Firstly, it undertakes the recognition and systematic delineation of collaborative repositories hosted on social media platforms, which serve to revitalize and perpetuate textile traditions through the curation of oral histories and diverse forms of visiotextual materials. Society views the strength of Black women as commendable as it shows positive qualities such as resilience and perseverance. While these traits are characterized as positive, Black women’s survival in American society has heavily depended on their strength, resulting in mental health illnesses such as anxiety and depression. The idea that Black women must exude strength and fortitude through adversity is labeled the Strong Black Woman Schema (SBWS). The SBWS is a race-gender schema that prescribes culturally-specific feminine expectations for Black women.

Illness memoirs with first-person point of view have gained more attention in recent years among medical sociologists and anthropologists. Different from traditional “case histories”written by doctors that are in danger of ignoring patients’ voices, autopathograhical works delineate narrators’ transformative experiences of persons to patients, emphasizing the importance of gaining social understanding of illness. Retail investors and other stakeholders are vigorously and loudly taking positions regarding corporate governance issues on social media. They are gathering on social media to discuss which stocks to invest in and to debate and collectively act on corporate governance-related matters. Propelled by new technologies and social media, retail investor engagement has shifted away from traditional venues like corporate voting and shareholder proposals. Retail investors have opened tens of millions of new brokerage accounts since 2020. Although we are still a long way from the science fiction version of “artificial general intelligence” that thinks, feels, and refuses to “open the pod bay doors,” recent advances in machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) have captured the public’s imagination and lawmakers’ interest. We now have large language models (LLMs) that can pass the bar exam, carry on (what passes for) a conversation about almost any topic, create new music, and create new visual art. These artifacts are often indistinguishable from their human-authored counterparts and yet can be produced at a speed and scale surpassing human ability.

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาคุณลักษณะและองค์ประกอบของวงไอดอลไทยสไตล์ญี่ปุ่น และเพื่ออธิบายกระบวนการพัฒนาวงไอดอลไทยสไตล์ญี่ปุ่นที่ประสบความสำเร็จการวิจัยใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงพรรณนา โดยใช้วิธีการวิจัยเอกสาร การสัมภาษณ์เจาะลึก และการสัมภาษณ์กลุ่ม ประชากรคือวงไอดอลไทยสไตล์ญี่ปุ่นทั้งหมดตั้งแต่ปี 2557 จนถึงปัจจุบัน กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือวงที่เดบิวต์ระหว่าง พ.ศ. 2560-2564 และยังดำเนินกิจกรรมอยู่ในปัจจุบัน จำนวน 8 วง โดยสัมภาษณ์ผู้ที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องในการดำเนินกิจกรรม 6 ท่าน และตัวแทนผู้ติดตามวงไอดอล 9 ท่าน เพื่อวิเคราะห์กระบวนการพัฒนาวงในมุมมองของผู้ผลิตและผู้บริโภคการศึกษาพบว่าคุณลักษณะของวงไอดอลไทยสไตล์ญี่ปุ่นประกอบด้วยการนำเสนอภาพลักษณ์ที่โดดเด่น 4 รูปแบบ ได้แก่ ระบบ 48 Group ภาพลักษณ์ที่แตกต่างจากกระแสหลัก ภาพลักษณ์แบบยืดหยุ่น และภาพลักษณ์แบบมีธีมเฉพาะ รวมทั้งการนำเสนอแนวคิดและค่านิยมความเป็นญี่ปุ่นที่ผสมผสานกับบริบทไทย องค์ประกอบสำคัญ 5 ประการ คือ ผลงานเพลง สมาชิกวงหรือไอดอล เอกลักษณ์ของวง กิจกรรมของวง และการสนับสนุนจากแฟนคลับ กระบวนการพัฒนาที่ประสบความสำเร็จประกอบด้วยการผลิตผลงานเพลงที่มีคุณภาพ ซึ่งครอบคลุมกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์ตั้งแต่การคิดคอนเซ็ปต์ การวิจัย การแต่งเพลง การบริหารจัดการการเผยแพร่ผลงาน การจัดการลิขสิทธิ์ การได้รับการสนับสนุนจากหน่วยงานภายนอก และการเชื่อมโยงกับอุตสาหกรรมอื่นโดยเฉพาะอุตสาหกรรมเกม ซึ่งครอบคลุมการสร้างความสัมพันธ์แบบพี่น้องหรือครอบครัวระหว่างทีมงานและศิลปิน การบริหารจัดการสัญญาอย่างเป็นธรรมและปกป้องผลประโยชน์ของศิลปิน การสร้างเครือข่ายทั้งในและต่างประเทศ และการวางแผนพัฒนาระยะยาวที่ครอบคลุมทั้งผลงาน ศิลปิน และองค์กร

The following study identified ways in which social issues were present in contemporary theatre and the subsequent productions designed for an audience ranging in identifying demographics through a collegiate production of Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood. Gen Z is a considerably politically active generation. However, Gen Z differs from previous generations in their methodology, campaigning for change through both in person and digital activism. While both forms of activism are effective in their own way, digital poses a unique challenge. When people can be activists from the comfort of their phone, they become “slacktivists”. This dissertation is a contextual autoethnography of my lived experience with stigmatization, stereotypes, and institutional obstructions as a divorced single mother who previously experienced intimate partner violence and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. The purpose of the study is to shed light on the complexity of the single motherhood experience, both internally and externally. From 2009 to 2019, the institutions I accessed for assistance as a single mother and those I interacted with for my children, my job, my health, and even within the church were unnecessarily burdensome financially, physically, and emotionally. Universities have historically fostered spaces where students, faculty, staff, and administration can fruitfully engage in discussion around contentious issues. Current political divisions have had a chilling effect on these discussions inside and outside the classroom. To nurture a campus culture of dialogic engagement, the communication studies department in collaboration with the DEI office began a campus dialogue project that invited faculty, staff, students, and administration to participate in monthly dialogues focused on cultural impasse topics. Our democracy depends on having a supply of candidates running for elected office, but in some instances, no one wants to run. This phenomenological study asks what the effects on a healthy and vibrant democracy are if ballots are blank and the seat is filled through write-in or appointment. Child’s The French Chef, which ran for ten years on the Boston public television station, WGBH, changed how American’s viewed, produced, and consumed food. งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ จัดทำขึ้นเพื่อพัฒนาเครื่องมือวัดประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือน (Customer experience in virtual event marketing communication หรือ CEVEM) โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) สร้างกรอบแนวคิด (Conceptualization) ประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือน 2) พัฒนาเครื่องมือวัด (Measurement) ประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือน ที่มีความเที่ยง (Reliability) และความตรง (Validity) และ 3) ทดสอบความไม่แปรเปลี่ยน (Invariance) ของเครื่องมือวัดประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือนที่พัฒนาขึ้น ตามประเภทของผลิตภัณฑ์ที่สื่อสาร โดยงานวิจัยได้ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยแบบผสม (Mixed methods) เริ่มต้นจากการวิเคราะห์เอกสาร (Documentary analysis) และสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (In-depth interviews) กับนักวิชาการ 6 ท่าน และผู้เชี่ยวชาญในอุตสาหกรรม 6 ท่าน จากนั้นจึงได้เก็บข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณด้วยการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ (Survey research) กับกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ได้รับชมการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือนจำนวน 453 คน ผลการวิจัยจากการวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบเชิงสำรวจ (Exploratory factor analysis) พบว่า มาตรวัดประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือนประกอบไปด้วย 6 มิติ อันได้แก่ 1) ประสบการณ์ความใหม่ 2) ประสบการณ์ความสัมพันธ์ 3) ประสบการณ์ความลื่นไหล 4) ประสบการณ์ปัญญา 5) ประสบการณ์อารมณ์ และ 6) ประสบการณ์กายภาพ โดยมีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟ่าของครอนบาคอยู่ที่ .97 จึงถือได้ว่า มาตรวัดนี้มีความเที่ยง และจากการวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบเชิงยืนยัน (Confirmatory factor analysis) พบว่า โมเดลที่พัฒนาขึ้นมีความตรงเชิงโครงสร้าง นอกจากนั้น ผลการทดสอบความไม่แปรเปลี่ยนยังแสดงให้เห็นว่า มาตรวัดที่สร้างขึ้นนั้น ไม่มีความแปรเปลี่ยนตามประเภทผลิตภัณฑ์ โดยสามารถใช้ได้ในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือนทั้งประเภทผลิตภัณฑ์และการบริการ (Generalizability) และสุดท้าย การทดสอบอิทธิพลชี้ให้เห็นว่า ประสบการณ์ผู้บริโภคในการสื่อสารการตลาดด้วยอีเวนต์เสมือนนั้น ส่งอิทธิพลเชิงบวกต่อทั้งทัศนคติต่อตราสินค้า (Brand attitude) และความพึงพอใจต่องานอีเวนต์ (Event satisfaction) ตามลำดับ

Background: Implicit bias in healthcare delivery refers to the unconscious mental associations healthcare providers make about patients from various social groups. Numerous studies suggest implicit bias contributes to health disparities primarily amongst marginalized groups. Furthermore, patients report a lower quality of communication from healthcare providers with higher implicit racial bias. In 2021, Assembly Bill 1407 (Nurses: Implicit Bias Courses Act) was passed to address the negative impact of bias on patient outcomes and requires California nursing schools to provide implicit bias training for nursing students.

Hating The Haters: Media, Polarisation And Class Conflict’ Media, Emotion, Society And Security Lightning Talks In Response To Dublin Riots, Edward Brennan

This 5-minute ‘lightning talk’ considered public and media responses to the Dublin riots of 2023, highlighting how hatred towards far-right agitators and rioters permeated not only social media discourse but also broadsheet journalism and government statements. Using Fintan O’Toole’s commentary as a key example, Brennan critiques the moral framing that legitimises hatred against “the haters,” suggesting it mirrors a pre-democratic cultural logic wherein ideas are seen as autonomous, malevolent forces shaping society. This ‘secular superstition’ constitutes an anti-sociology that erases economic and class contexts, replacing them with aesthetic politics rooted in identity, branding and lifestyle logics. The North 10th and Treadaway Church of Christ (“Treadaway”) is a small, predominantly African American congregation located in Abilene, Texas, home of Abilene Christian University (“ACU”) and several other institutions of higher learning. Considering ACU’s Church of Christ heritage and continued affiliation with the Churches of Christ, it is no surprise that Treadaway has often served as a “home away from home” congregation for ACU students and recent graduates who choose to remain in the city. Masculinity Crossing Borders: An Analysis Of Acting Like A Man In Chicano Culture, Victoria Rivas

The current thesis examines the representation of Chicano masculinity in four films: Mi Familia (1995), A Better Life (2011), End of Watch (2012), and How to be a Latin Lover (2017). It uses cultural studies as a theoretical framework and methodology to explore the evolution of Chicano masculinity enacted by Latino actors in Hollywood films. Findings indicate that although the representation of Chicano masculinity has changed over the years, it remains negative. Including Latino actors in films to portray Chicano characters does not necessarily translate to accuracy. Limitations are addressed and suggestions for future research are provided.
