Winona Campus Life

Winona Campus Life was a weekly laboratory newspaper produced by the WSU Mass Communciation Department students and printed as a supplement to the Sunday Winona Daily News, which began in September 1983. The newspaper provided coverage of the four institutions of higher education in Winona: Winona State University, St. Mary's University, College of Saint Teresa, and Winona Area Vocational-Technical School. It was created to provide a place for Mass Communcation students to publish their articles and photographs with the idea of generating reader feedback, which is essential in journalism education.

RISK: Health, Safety & Environment (1990-2002)

The authors explain the development and use of a behavioral Risk management strategy. It is designed for developing interventions to change behaviors, e.g., to lower the Risk of AIDS. The advantage of their strategy is said to be its structure combined with flexibility. Intervenors are not restricted to a single model in determining factors most relevant to changing Risky behavior.

A Multi-Disciplinary Approach To Cultural Learning Through Cable Television, John F. Dillon, Sheila C. Crifasi

Journal of the Association for Communication Administration

This article examines a multi-disciplinary approach to cultural learning through cable television. In the U.S., television current affairs programming is now being used in place of conventional textbooks in those subject areas dealing with rapidly unfolding world developments, such as history and political science. While it may take years to revise a traditional textbook, college educators are relying on the quickness of television--as well as print mass media--to help their students comprehend dynamic global events. In 1989, recognizing their own potential as an educational resource, major cable companies and programmers created Cable in the Classroom to help K-to-12th grade educators …
