The objective of the research is to explore the fan perception and fan engagement of “Bed Friend Series”. The research used In-depth interview method from 20 key informants from the fandom living in different countries. The research examines how fans perceive the series’ themes, characters, and storylines, as well as their interaction with its leading actors, Net Siraphop and James Su. Utilizing qualitative methods, twenty informants from diverse backgrounds were interviewed to understand their emotional connections and participatory behaviors across online and offline platforms. Thailand As Gay-Friendly Destination In Indonesian Gay Men’S Perception, Sarah Geraldine Wullur

This research explores the perception of Indonesian gay men toward Thailand as a gay-friendly destination. This study employs a qualitative approach, conducting in-depth interviews with 15 respondents aged 18 to 45 who identify as Indonesian gay individuals and have traveled to Thailand at least once, engaging in gay-related activities during their visit. The findings indicate that Indonesian gay men perceived Thailand favorably as a gay-friendly destination, due to its welcoming and progressive atmosphere. The society was viewed as accepting of gay culture, regardless of how individuals express themselves or their preferences. Moreover, the Y series emerged as the most significant …

This research investigates the influence of out-of-home (OOH) advertising value on consumer attitudes and purchase intention towards Samsung smartphones. Data were collected via an online survey from 304 male and female respondents, aged 25 to 60 years, residing in Bangkok, who had encountered at least one of Samsung's OOH advertisements, including outdoor, transit, and in-store advertisements, in the past week. The study reveals that all five dimensions of advertising value (i.e. informativeness, credibility, entertainment, irritation, and overall advertising value) significantly influenced attitude towards the advertisement while the credibility dimension was the sole dimension of advertising value impacting attitude towards the …

Refuting falsity is crucial. At the same time, there are instances when fighting false information does not work (Ardèvol-Abreu et al., 2020; McIntyre, 2018; Van Bavel et al., 2021). With nearly a quarter of Canada's population comprising migrants (Statistics Canada, 2022), understanding their adjustment is critical. This thesis explores the complex construction and performance of biracial identity within the context of the United States, delving into the historical and ongoing impacts of race and racism, and the pervasive influence of white supremacy. Through an autoethnographic approach, this study investigates how personal narratives illuminate the processes of biracial identity construction, expression, and negotiation across three social institutions: family, education, and media. The findings reveal the intricate and intersecting interactions that contribute to identity formation, highlighting the expansive nature of intersectionality. Communicating the importance of rules and warnings to visitors of recreational parks through signage can be difficult. However, it is one of the most important things to keep visitors safe. Oftentimes, these signs use fear of punishment or injury to discourage certain behaviors. This thesis delves into the ways in which gender is portrayed in Indian television advertisements, with a focus on key areas such as male and female ratio as primary characters, in voiceovers, at home, outdoor, and workplace settings, and finally, in product categories. The thesis draws on a content analysis of 120 strategically selected Indian television advertisements from 120 brands from 2011 to 2020. Findings reveal that men were portrayed as the primary characters in 54.6% of these advertisements, and females were portrayed as the primary characters in 45.4% of advertisements. Discourse in adoptive families is how families create relationships and familial identity. This literature review addresses how parents talk to adoptees and the negative and positive outcomes of these conversations. Parents discuss entrance stories, word choice, and privacy management with their adopted children. When parents are open with adoptees, adoptees are better adjusted and have a strong sense of identity. Parents who had good quality conversations with their children saw children who had a stronger sense of belonging. When parents withhold information, adoptees developed anxious and avoidant attachment styles. Adoptees also felt betrayed and lost trust in their adopted parents. …

Masculinity Crossing Borders: An Analysis Of Acting Like A Man In Chicano Culture, Victoria Rivas

The current thesis examines the representation of Chicano masculinity in four films: Mi Familia (1995), A Better Life (2011), End of Watch (2012), and How to be a Latin Lover (2017). It uses cultural studies as a theoretical framework and methodology to explore the evolution of Chicano masculinity enacted by Latino actors in Hollywood films. Findings indicate that although the representation of Chicano masculinity has changed over the years, it remains negative. Including Latino actors in films to portray Chicano characters does not necessarily translate to accuracy. Limitations are addressed and suggestions for future research are provided.

Technical and Professional Communication (TPC) programs in small institutions compose of over a third of all programs in the US, yet this space has been understudied by most scholars. To fill this gap, this dissertation presents findings from one-hour interviews with twenty-six TPC program directors in small US institutions with undergraduate populations of less than six thousand. The results of this dissertation include the ways that small institutions are advocating, implementing, and sustaining their TPC program in unique ways with implications for how any TPC programs regardless of size can learn from these findings.

Communicative competence could be understood as the ability to effectively use language in different contexts, and one of these contexts is the intricate framework of the supervisor-subordinate relationship (SSR). However, studies on SSR are mostly based on supervisors’ communicative behavior (SCB), and there is a scarcity of studies that investigate the role of subordinates’ organizational communication competence (SOCC) on SSR. Consequently, this study aims to investigate the relationship between SOCC and SCB in the SSR framework.
