The purpose of this paper was to examine newsletters disseminated by school public relations programs to their community in districts where Spanish is the primary home language. A content analysis examined district newsletters of school districts located in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. The examination of district-issued newsletters determined the percentage of stories written in English or Spanish to compare with the demographic make-up, specifically the percentage of the non-English speaking parents of the district and the percentage of Limited English Proficient students. Stories were also analyzed to determine whether there were recurring themes in the English versus Spanish …

The relationship between the community and the organization is looked at and analyzed through two types of interpersonal relationships. The exchange relationship and the communal relationship help evaluate the relationship or the organization compared to the community by researching the organization and the public. The farmer’s market located in the Madonna shopping center has a certain public attracting clientele based on their needs within the community, and it is the job of a public relations practitioner to help perceive the organization based on these publics. Social inequality and environmental degradation are motivating informed young people into action and connecting impoverished regions of the world with students in more developed nations. This Social Sciences senior project is to analyze an alternative development model designed by a group of Californian university students. The project, named Chimeneas de la Esperanza, is designed to help impoverished Nicaraguan women start a ceramics business. The major hurdle of this mission is to establish a market for the ceramics product.
