The Newspapers Are Justified, Both In Reader Interest And In Circulation Increase, In The Amount Of Space They Now Devote To Professional And Amateur Sports, Leo William Loftus
Bachelors’ Theses
In this thesis, an attempt will be made to show that the modern newspaper is justified in giving the large amount of space to sporting events that it now finds necessary. A fair and impartial view of the problem will be taken and an earnest endeavor will be made to show both sides of the question, and thus present a fair and unbiased attitude. The benefits and good points of the sports page amid its Influence will be shown as well as the abuses and evils that have crept in. An effort will be made to give a clear and …

Newspaper Feature Syndicates, Evelyn M. Exceen
Bachelors’ Theses
The purpose of this thesis is to give as completely as possible a survey of the Feature Syndicate Field in the United States, the events which led in the establishment of this branch of service for newspapers, and the results which such establishment have produced in the newspaper world. The modern Newspaper is not complete without a feature service. Spot news is of prime importance, necessarily, but there are a thousand and one stories in the day's events that are not always of prime importance, but nevertheless worthwhile and interesting. Feature Syndicates present these stories daily.

The Place Of The House Organ In The Business World, Joseph W. Berg
The Place Of The House Organ In The Business World, Joseph W. Berg
Bachelors’ Theses
The business of producing house organs is intimately a part of advertising and is precariously linked up with the problem of salesmanship. More generously house organs are the consolidated specialized effort of producing the wide spread use of an advertised product. It is well to consider the construction of this widely misunderstood term involving direct advertising, from the foundation of advertising in general.
Advertising is an art older than history, though in its present· forms it is rather recent. The newest of all its developments, of course, is that phase in which we are most interested since it involves the …
The Metropolitan Newspaper's Promotion Enterprise, Harry A. Friedman
The Metropolitan Newspaper's Promotion Enterprise, Harry A. Friedman
Bachelors’ Theses
In the heterogeniety of modern civilization, the newspaper commands a position of prominence rivaled only by the greatest of the industrial and commercial corporations. Too many idealists, however, fail to comprehend the really stupenduos growth of the newspaper as a business. To the idealist, the newspaper is the champion of public rights, the defender of the weak, the voice of the people, the combatant of all that is evil. It is granted, of course, that the newspaper is all of that and more, but primarily the newspaper must be a highly organized business before it can function in its idealistic …
