Assessment Of Employee Risks In Construction Of Megahousing Projects Using Structural Equation Modeling, Mohamed Nabawy

Civil Engineering

One of the most crucial objectives for nations with dense populations worldwide is the construction of mega projects. Egypt's 2030 strategy emphasizes how crucial it is to build MHP in order to accommodate the country's enormous population growth. However, there has been a nighty eight percent delay in the completion of house construction projects due to employees' inadequate training, technology use, and uncertainty management. Enhancing the administrative, technical, and management skills of staff members can prevent delays in Egypt's delivery of sustainable MHP. The aim of this study is to develop an employee management model (ESEM) in order to assess …

Numerical Study On Enhancing The Geotechnical Behavior Of Strip Footings On Oil-Contaminated Sand Using Stone Columns, Ahmad Nasr, Waseim Azzam, Mohamed Ahmed Mahmoud Abdelrehem

Journal of Engineering Research

Ground improvement techniques are frequently employed in construction sites characterized by weak soil conditions that may result in suboptimal performance. The use of ordinary and encased stone columns aims to enhance endurance, shear strength, and soil hardness, thereby mitigating settlement issues and expediting the consolidation of contaminated sand soils. In this research, a comprehensive investigation involving 74 cases was conducted to assess the behavior of both ordinary stone columns and encased stone columns under strip footing in contaminated sand subgrade. The objective was to discern the impact and characteristics of encapsulation in comparison to encapsulated stone columns, employing a Finite …

Ir Spectral Analysis Of Broussonetia Papyrefera Plant, Umid Hamroyevich Alamov, Zaytuna Ali Qizi Qurbonaliyeva, Dostonbek Qurbonsho Ugli Shomurodov, Elmurod Abduqodirovich Egamberdiev

Technical science and innovation

in this study, a method for determining the concentration of lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose in plant materials using Fourier-transform IR spectroscopy of Broussonetia papyrefera was developed and tested. The procedure is based on the use of calibration functions that reflect the dependence of the intensity of analytical absorption lines on the concentration of lignin (1512 cm-1) and cellulose (1450 cm-1) in standard samples; indirect correlation was used for hemicellulose. The model samples were ternary mixtures composed of lignin, bacterial cellulose and hemicellulose in different proportions. The proposed method was tested on a wide range of plant biomass samples.

Study Of The Synthesis Mechanism And Some Properties Of Oligomers Based On Epichlorohydrin And Diphenylguanidine, Rovshan Israilovich Ismailov, Normuhamad Edgarov, Alisher Israilovich Ismailov

Technical science and innovation

In this work, the synthesis and the scheme for obtaining an oligomer based on epiiodhydrin with diphenylguanidine were studied, the proportions of epiiodhydrin in the initial mixture, the yield of oligomers, and the reduced viscosity were studied. The results of spectroscopic and elemental analyzes are obtained, which show that changes in the ratio of monomers have almost no effect on the iodine content in the oligomer. This is apparently due to the fact that epiiodhydrin is much more active in reactions than amino compounds. By studying the degree of conversion on the viscosity of the oligomerization products, the effects on …

Theses and Dissertations

The structural health and economic variables influencing the state of bridges in New Jersey are thoroughly examined in this thesis. The predictive modeling of bridge conditions using stepwise selection and linear logistic regression approaches is the primary focus of the opening chapter. With its precise predictions about bridge condition, either being fair/good, our model offers insightful information about resource allocation and maintenance by identifying bridge features which affect the deterioration of bridges the most. This gives effective infrastructure management, which not only relies on the identification of the important predictors and their effects on bridge conditions but also ranks them …

To achieve these objectives, the research uses a systematic approach that combines experimental testing with analytical modeling. …

Tracking Deposition And Settling Characteristics Of Airborne Metallic Particulate, William Kahale Caspino Oct 2024

Tracking Deposition And Settling Characteristics Of Airborne Metallic Particulate, William Kahale Caspino

Theses and Dissertations

Transport and deposition of metal particles is a source of environmental and public health concern. Understanding how ambient conditions and the properties of the particles interact to influence the dispersal range can provide information on and the possible extent of environmental contamination. Controlled laboratory experiments and modeling were utilized to determine when such particles would deposit. Particle samples containing heavy metals, a Palladium-dominant alloy and a Nickel/Aluminum dominant alloy LANA, were released in a static column, and the vertical displacement was tracked utilizing a Phantom v7.3 camera and a camera lens. Electron microscopy revealed that particles are not spherical and …

Passive Displacement Cooling (PDC) is a relatively recent technology gaining attention as a means of significantly reducing building energy consumption overheads, especially in tropical climates. PDC eliminates the use of mechanical fans, instead using chilled-water heat exchangers to perform convective cooling. In this paper, we identify and characterize the impact of several key parameters affecting occupant comfort in a 1000m2 open-floor area (consisting of multiple zones) of a ZEB (Zero Energy Building) deployed with PDC units and tackle the problem of setting the temperature setpoint of the PDC units to assure occupant thermal comfort and yet conserve energy. We tackle …

Simulating The Compound Impacts Of Climate Change And Sea-Level Rise On Coastal Shallow Groundwater Using An Integrated Surface-Subsurface Hydrologic Model, Zhaoyi Cai

Civil & Environmental Engineering Theses & Dissertations

As climate change intensifies and sea levels rise, coastal aquifers become increasingly vulnerable to interacting oceanic and terrestrial processes. This dissertation examines the combined impacts of climate change and sea-level rise (SLR) on coastal shallow groundwater using an integrated surface-subsurface hydrologic model, focusing on the low-lying Little Creek watershed (LCW) in Norfolk, Virginia. The SWAT-MODFLOW model, a coupled system, unifies land surface, streamflow, and groundwater processes, providing a comprehensive framework for watershed-aquifer analysis. Model parameters were derived from U.S. Geological Survey datasets, relevant literature, station records, and technical reports, followed by meticulous calibration. The validated model first simulated baseline groundwater …
