A Study Of The Reasons For The Salary Differential Between Professional Staff Members At The University Of Utah And Utah State University, Terrance R. Volb

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Salary differentials by rank were studied at the University of Utah and Utah State University on a departmental basis.

Multiple regression equations were developed from criteria at Utah State University which were used to predict individual salaries for professional staff members at the University of Utah. Thirteen of the fourteen multiple regression equations developed showed statistical significance at the .05 level and twelve departments were significant at the .01 level.

Salary comparisons by rank were considerably reduced as a result of the department by department analysis.

The Sociological Implications Of Automation For Labor, Floyd Gene Lytle Jan 1968

The Sociological Implications Of Automation For Labor, Floyd Gene Lytle

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The dramatic utilization of cybernated equipment has been one of the outstanding accomplishments of modern society. The benefits of this equipment, however, have not gone unchallenged. Since its introduction, automation has been a center of controversy, garnering ardent supporters and adamant critics. As a result, the impact of automation upon the individual and society has been the subject of study and research for both physical and social scientists.

It is the purpose of this study to (1) present a compendium of the literature about automation; (2) investigate the effect of automation upon the employment rate in the United States; (3) …

Business In Nebraska #286, July 1968, Dorothy Switzer, E. L. Burgess, Everett E. Peterson, Glen Vollmar

Business in Nebraska

Implications of the Growth of Corporate Farming (Dorothy Switzer)

Economic studies of farm size have shown that, as farm size increases, average costs either decrease, remain about the same, or increase slightly for very large farms- but still remain below average returns. If this were always so, large farms would be the most profitable, and it might be expected that the size distribution of farms would rapidly shift in this direction. But, as Wilcox reported to the Subcommittee on Antitrust and Monopoly, farm size has been increasing almost uniformly for all size categories. Of all farms, the largest 10 percent …

The Midwest Quarterly: A Journal of Contemporary Thought

in this issue. . .

A RECENT SUBSCRIBER, forgetting or perhaps overlooking our regional main title, made his check payable to "A Journal of Contemporary Thought." Now we take serious pride in belonging to the Midwest; we celebrate its artists and writers, seek out articles of particular relevance to our broad region, and think of ourselves as speaking in a midwestern accent. But our subscriber reminds us, though inadvertently, that we strive with equal seriousness to live up to the claim embodied in our second title. We are acutely concerned with our own troubled times, nor can we always repress …

Tax Reform: 1966-67, Research Department

Economic and Financial Review

This article examines tax reforms in Nigeria which was undertaken to restructure indirect and direct (individual and company). The article observed that the reform was undertaken because of the low current revenue which led to a shortfall in the calendar year budget equivalent of £178.8 million by 10.8 per cent. The drop in revenue was caused by a fall in demand for dutiable imports. Although current revenue fell, current expenditure rose by 13.0 per cent to £88.6 million, due mainly to a rise of about 67 per cent in public debt servicing and unplanned expenditures related to the political situation …
