Graduate Student Dissertations, Theses, Capstones, and Portfolios

Benefits From It Support In Networked Value Shops, Petter Gottschalk

Journal of International Information Management

For a long time, the value chain was the only value configuration known to managers. Recently, two alternative value configurations have been identified: value shop and value network. Law firms are typical value shops. This research investigated benefits perceived from the use of the network among Eurojuris law firms in Norway. Benefit concepts were derived from value shop activities, knowledge categories and knowledge levels. A survey was conducted, and survey results indicate that lawyers in the value shop activities of problem solving, choice, control and evaluation perceive benefits when they get access to knowledge at an advanced level.

Student Scholarship

This paper addresses the effect on customer service satisfaction of primary language differences between service personnel and customers in retail store environments. This study was conducted using ethnographic research methods in five different retail store environments where service personnel were Spanish-speaking and customers English- speaking. Sales And Use Taxes In Clark County And Potential Implications Of The Internet Sales Tax Moratorium, Patrick Timothy Collins Smith

UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones

Sales taxes have been a much-depended on source of revenue for local governments since the early part of the 1900’s. Southern Nevada local governments rely relatively heavily on sales and use taxes for a source of income. In 1998, the United States Congress passed an Act that imposed a moratorium on Internet sales tax collection until October 2001. With the explosive growth in Internet sales, the issue of the failed collection of an Internet sales tax has come to the forefront of local government finance discussions.

A Virtual Organisation Model For E-Government, Greg Robins, Janice Burn

Research outputs pre 2011

This paper looks at the implementation of a new customer value alliance model in e-govemment. A model of e-Government is introduced and examined within the context of a virtual organisation model which can be applied along the customer value chain across multiple service agencies. A case study is used to demonstrate how this concept of a virtual organisation as a customer value-alliance model can effect a successful transition to e-Govemment from a traditional Government model. Finally, we examine how …
