Sustainability Innovation In Small Medium Enterprises (Smes): A Qualitative Analysis, Budi Harsanto, Asep Mulyana, Yudi Ahmad Faisal Mr, Venny Mellandhia Shandy, Muntasir Alam

The Qualitative Report

Prior research suggests that today, sustainability is an important key in innovation. While the integration of sustainability into innovation in large enterprises has been widely studied, research on small-medium enterprises (SMEs) is still lacking. The aim of this study is to understand the sustainability innovation practices in SMEs. We interviewed 30 SME owners and managers in Indonesia and analyzed the data using thematic analysis to understand how SMEs practice sustainability innovation. The findings show that sustainability innovation in the form of product innovation is commonly practiced through the use of more environmentally friendly raw materials and packaging materials. The game day experience inside East Tennessee State University’s newer sports venues, such as William B. Same with Johnson City’s Freedom Hall Civic Center for men’s basketball.

But fans of women’s basketball and volleyball find the “friendly confines” of the historic Brooks Gym a great place to take in a game, too.

One such fan is Janet Stork.

Consider Stork a “superfan.” She attends every game she can for various men’s and …

Consumer Engagement With Self-Driving Cars: A Theory Of Planned Behavior-Informed Perspective, Linda D. Hollebeek, Choukri Menidjel, Omar S. Itani, Moira K. Clark, Valdimar Sigurdsson

Marketing Faculty Publications

Purpose

This study investigates the mediating role of consumer engagement (CE) in the relationship between perceived behavioral control (PBC) and purchase intent and the moderating role of perceived safety in the relationship between PBC and CE in the self-driving car (SDC) context.

Design/methodology/approach

To test the model, a sample of 368 consumers was deployed using partial least-squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).

Findings

The findings reveal that consumers' SDC engagement mediates the relationship between PBC and their intent to purchase an SDC. Consumer-perceived SDC safety also moderates the association of PBC/engagement.

Originality/value

While prior research has examined consumer-based drivers of SDC …

Patient Experience Journal

Numerous health care publications have focused on the compelling need to improve patient experience and the associated improvements necessary to address workforce well-being. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated and illuminated long-standing problems in health care including workforce shortages, inequity in health care delivery outcomes, care provider burnout, and overall societal structural racism.1,2 The Beryl Institute’s Nursing Executive Council (NEC) manuscript Rebuilding a Foundation of Trust: A Call to Action in Creating a Safe Environment for Everyone3 focused on actions and behaviours to heal relationships and build trust between care providers and leaders with commitments to safety, empathy, shared decision …

We have welcomed diverse voices as contributors, and we have seen an even more diverse readership. In reviewing the pages of PXJ over the last decade, we see a true evolution of the experience movement itself. The words of our contributors have provided a lens …

You Have To Play To Win: Value Capture In Open Innovation, John T. Pritchard Nov 2023

You Have To Play To Win: Value Capture In Open Innovation, John T. Pritchard

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Despite the extensive research on open innovation, debate remains on the relationship between open innovation and firm performance. No consensus exists on the measures of performance and the mechanisms that enable value capture remain largely unexplored. This dissertation addresses these issues in two parts. First, a theoretical model based on knowledge flows is introduced. Knowledge is at the heart of open innovation and this dissertation examines the role that external and internal knowledge play in firm performance outcomes. It integrates the dynamic capability view and open innovation literature to build a framework and set of arguments on how knowledge is …

Do Online Consumers Value Corporate Social Responsibility More In Times Of Uncertainty?: Evidence From Online Auctions Conducted During The Onset Of The Covid-19 Pandemic, Andrew S. Manikas, James R. Kroes, E. Shaunn Mattingly, Garrett A. Mcbrayer

IT and Supply Chain Management Faculty Publications and Presentations

The relationships between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and consumer behaviors have been widely explored in the literature. From the consumer standpoint, it has been shown that individuals largely want to be socially responsible actors and that, more than ever, they consider the CSR aspects of products or services when contemplating purchasing decisions. We utilize data from 23,247 online auctions conducted before and during the COVID-19 pandemic to analyze in what way consumer preferences might be influenced by how the CSR characteristics of products are touted in their descriptions. We find that a greater CSR emphasis is positively associated with an …

Emotional Intelligence, Self-Efficacy, And The Perceived Employability Of Traditional Undergraduate Business Students In A Private Midwest Educational Institution, Michele Ryan Nov 2023

Emotional Intelligence, Self-Efficacy, And The Perceived Employability Of Traditional Undergraduate Business Students In A Private Midwest Educational Institution, Michele Ryan

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)

Emotional intelligence has gained increasing popularity since its definition and subsequent research 30 years ago. Numerous studies have focused on emotional intelligence and undergraduate students, and studies have demonstrated a positive relationship between a student with higher emotional intelligence and their academic and mental abilities. Undergraduate students have also been the focus of research related to self-efficacy and perceived employability, but those two facets have not been tied together with emotional intelligence. Additionally, managers have noted a skills gap for graduating students entering the workforce as students seem to be lacking emotional intelligence while thinking they have a sufficient amount. …

Mitigating Industry Contagion Effects From Financial Reporting Fraud: A Competitive Dynamics Perspective Of Non-Errant Rival Firms Exploiting Product-Market Opportunities, Eugene Kang, Nongnapat Thosuwanchot, David Gomulya Nov 2023

Mitigating Industry Contagion Effects From Financial Reporting Fraud: A Competitive Dynamics Perspective Of Non-Errant Rival Firms Exploiting Product-Market Opportunities, Eugene Kang, Nongnapat Thosuwanchot, David Gomulya

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

Existing studies show that financial reporting frauds by errant firms cause declines in stock market valuations for non-errant rival firms (i.e. industry contagion effects). We posit that contagion effects may be mitigated by investors’ expectations of non-errant rivals exploiting product-market opportunities at the expense of errant firms. We apply the competitive dynamics literature to argue that non-errant rivals experience lower contagion effects when they have more available slack to engage in competitive actions. This effect is expected to strengthen when rival firms have previously deployed more resources for research and development and advertising investments or have higher prior market share …

Audit Adjustments And The Discontinuity In Earnings Distribution Around Zero, Chu Yeong Lim, Themin Suwardy, Tracey Chunqi Zhang Nov 2023

Audit Adjustments And The Discontinuity In Earnings Distribution Around Zero, Chu Yeong Lim, Themin Suwardy, Tracey Chunqi Zhang

Research Collection School Of Accountancy

Accounting researchers have documented that a discontinuity exists in earnings distribution around zero. However, there is considerable debate among researchers whether the earnings discontinuity around zero is caused by earnings management. We aim to shed light on the earnings discontinuity debate by examining the impact of audit adjustments on the distribution of earnings using a unique dataset from Singapore containing both recorded and waived adjustments. We find that audit adjustments do not reduce the discontinuity of earnings distribution around zero. This affirms that the results of Lennox et. al (2016) based on pre-tax earnings also apply to post-tax earnings and …
