Innovative Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approach For Supplier Evaluation: Combining Tlf, Fuzzy Bwm, And Vikor, Ikhwan Arief, Dicky Fatrias, Ferry Jie, Armijal Armijal
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Addressing the performance issues of underperforming suppliers necessitates a thorough evaluation, serving as a catalyst for initiating supplier development efforts. However, the inherent inaccuracies in information introduce complexity, especially when human judgment is involved in the supplier evaluation process. Associated with such problem, this study presents a novel methodology for supplier performance evaluation in the crumb rubber industry, integrating the Taguchi Loss Function (TLF), fuzzy Best-Worst Method (BWM), and VIKOR technique in group decision-making environment. Aimed at addressing the challenges in industries with variable supplier quality and performance, such as the crumb rubber industry in Indonesia, the methodology was empirically …
Age Differences In Emotion Regulation And Executive Function, Wei Xing Toh, Hwajin Yang
Age Differences In Emotion Regulation And Executive Function, Wei Xing Toh, Hwajin Yang
Research Collection School of Social Sciences
Age-related improvements in emotion regulation (ER) are thought to account for the relatively healthy levels of well-being observed in late adulthood. However, extant laboratory-based evidence on age differences in the effective implementation of ER strategies―such as reappraisal (i.e., reframing the meaning of an emotion-eliciting event) and distraction (i.e., redirecting attention away from emotional to non-emotional information)―remains equivocal (Isaacowitz, 2022). Moreover, developmental differences in ER monitoring (i.e., adjusting regulatory approach as needed, such as maintaining or switching strategies), and factors that underpin such age-related differences, are poorly understood. Therefore, we investigated how younger and older adults (N = 335) differ in …

Ever had that dream where you walk into class the day of the final exam, and in the very moment when you panic, realizing you’ve not been to class the entire semester, haven’t taken one note and haven’t cracked open the textbook, you wake up with a jolt?
Hopefully no East Tennessee State University students find themselves in the predicament of that common dream in reality, but the feelings of stress and anxiety surrounding end-of-semester projects and studying for final exams are all too real for many.

Exploration Of The Implementation Of An Integrated Electronic Laboratory Information Management System On Quality Diagnostics Service Indicators At A County Level Public Hospital In Western Kenya., Kelly Allen
Capstone Collection
Underinvestment in pathology and laboratory capacity caused by low visibility in research and in prioritization by public health leaders results in limited effective healthcare coverage and an estimated 1.1 million premature deaths annually in Low-and-Middle-Income Countries. Kenya’s public health laboratories provide a median 41% of the Essential Diagnostic List to their patients and in Kisumu County, as much as 44.2% of the population has little to no access to essential diagnostics. The government of Kisumu implemented the county Health Laboratory Strategic Plan 2018-2022 to address this public health challenge. Little information exists on the effectiveness of these initiatives and the …

Umbrella Summaries
What is organizational commitment?
Organizational commitment, along with job satisfaction, is one of the most commonly studied job attitudes within the psychological sciences and is often used to gauge how employees feel about their job. Research on organizational commitment has largely been a fragmented endeavor, with no clear consensus on what organizational commitment actually is or how it should be conceptualized. To date, there is not one definition that is regarded as the best, but there are some common themes that can be seen throughout the many definitions in existence. For example, most definitions refer to organizational commitment in terms …

This pilot study aims to assess the acceptability of Open University’s training platform called Gamified Intelligent Cyber Aptitude and Skills Training course (GICAST), as a means of improving cybersecurity knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours in undergraduate students using both quantitative and qualitative methods. A mixed-methods, pre-post experimental design was employed. 43 self-selected participants were recruited via an online register and posters at the university (excluding IT related courses). Participants completed the Human Aspects of Information Security Questionnaire (HAIS-Q) and Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) Scale. They then completed all games and quizzes in the GICAST course before repeating the HAIS-Q and …

De-Influencers And Social Media Trends, Misha Harneja, Emma Han
Student Scholar Symposium Abstracts and Posters
Influencers are content creators who collaborate with brands to promote a brand image or specific products to their followers.
In a new social media trend, influencers have also become “deinfluencers” who advocate against certain behaviors or products. Throughout this project, we aim to understand the new “trend” of “deinfluencers”.
The diversity of opinions and motivations for deinfluencers makes it challenging to uncover their motivations for creating this type of content. Our project combines secondary data research on popular press articles and primary data collection on Instagram and TikTok.

Umbrella Summaries
What is job satisfaction?
Job satisfaction is generally thought of as the degree to which an individual likes or dislikes their job (Spector, 1997). Along with organizational commitment, it is one of the most commonly studied job attitudes and is used as a way to gauge how employees feel about their jobs and as a reflection of how well the organization is functioning. Job satisfaction is commonly considered as either “a global feeling about the job or as a related constellation of attitudes about various aspects or facets of the job” (Spector, 1997, p. 2). Thus, job satisfaction is …

Disentangling Trend Risk And Basis Risk With Functional Time Series, Yanxin Liu, Johnny Siu-Hang Li
Department of Finance: Faculty Publications
In recent multi-population stochastic mortality models, one critical scientific issue is the vague distinction between trend risk and population basis risk. In particular, the cross- and auto-correlations between the innovations of the latent factors representing the common trend and the population-specific trends are often assumed to be non-existent, although they are possibly statistically significant. While it is theoretically possible to capture such correlations by treating the latent factors as a vector time series, the resulting model would contain a large number of parameters, which may in turn lead to robustness problems. In this paper, we address these issues by the …

The present paper studies the rationale of advertisements targeting children, assesses the impact of contemporary media advertisements on children and appraises the existing regulatory landscape of children targeted advertisements in India. It pushes for the need for stronger regulatory framework in the emerging markets.

Recent advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have brought society closer to the long-held dream of creating machines to help with both common and complex tasks and functions. From recommending movies to detecting disease in its earliest stages, AI has become an aspect of daily life many people accept without scrutiny. Despite its functionality and promise, AI has inherent security risks that users should understand and programmers must be trained to address. The ICE (integrity, confidentiality, and equity) cybersecurity labs developed by a team of cybersecurity researchers addresses these vulnerabilities to AI models through a series of hands-on, inquiry-based labs.
