Is Long-Term Survival Higher In Patients Who Receive Propofol-Based Total Intravenous Anesthesia During Colorectal Cancer Surgery Compared To Volatile Anesthesia, Shad Anthony Mitchell

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

The study reviewed several retrospective cohort studies that examined the impact of propofol-based total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) versus volatile anesthesia (VA) on the long-term survival of colorectal cancer (CRC) surgery patients. Eight studies found no significant difference in mortality between the two anesthesia types, while three studies indicated a significant decrease in all-cause mortality favoring propofol TIVA. The studies had varying follow-up periods, with some extending to five years. Notably, two studies controlled the type of volatile anesthetic used, specifically sevoflurane and desflurane. The findings suggest a potential survival advantage for propofol TIVA, warranting further investigation.

The “cash runway” had been extended and the young founding team could now look to commercialisation and bringing their patent pending technology, the Micron Kit, from working product to market. However, there were some major decisions to tease out and challenges to overcome regarding the future strategic direction of this …

Assessing The Impact Of Human Resource Management (Hrm) Practices On Organizational Commitment: An Examination Of The Role Of Temporal Focus, Monty Clint Taylor

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

This study explores how organizational commitment is associated with employee satisfaction regarding the human resource management (HRM) practices of training/development and compensation. Drawing on Affective Events Theory (AET), this research also examines the role of past temporal focus as a moderating variable of the proposed relationships. During times of historically low unemployment rates below 4% in the United States (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2024), organizations face major challenges in hiring and retaining employees to fill existing job vacancies (Conklin, 2022). Overall organizational stability (i.e., productivity and financial capabilities) is maintained when skilled employees are successfully recruited and trained as …

It’S Not What You Say, It’S What You Do: Leaders’ Attitudes And Intentions Toward Reducing The Gender Pay Gap In Nonprofit Organizations, Doragnes Rivera Bradshaw

Dissertations from the Executive Doctorate in Business Administration Program

This study examines the impact of leadership styles on attitudes and intentions to reduce the gender pay gap within nonprofit organizations (NPOs). NPOs are economic engines existing to improve individual lives, communities, and the collective society. The gender pay gap is defined as the difference between median earnings of women relative to median earnings of men. While NPOs employ women at a higher rate and tend to exhibit a smaller gender pay gap, a gap exists and is relatively unstudied within the sector. Reducing discrimination by examining antecedents to pay equity supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically …
