Revisiting Circular Economy Rebound: Market Dynamics, Policy Implications, And Future Research Directions, Trevor Zink Ph.D., Benjamin H. Lowe, Andrea Genovese, David Font Vivaco

Management Faculty Works

The circular economy has gained momentum as a sustainability paradigm that aims to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation by promoting resource efficiency and waste minimization. However, mounting evidence points to a critical challenge: circular economy rebound (CER). This phenomenon occurs when efficiency improvements intended to reduce resource use provoke systemic, market, or behavioral responses that diminish or even reverse the anticipated environmental gains. This is particularly problematic within growth-oriented economies, where resource efficiency often reinforces rather than reduces consumption. This paper draws on insights from a roundtable discussion with leading experts—Trevor Zink, David Font Vivanco, and Andrea Genovese—to critically …

Entrepreneur's Family Status, Strategy, Performance, Zdenka Cumano

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2020 - Present

This research aims to illuminate the relationship between marital status and entrepreneurial performance among entrepreneurs, focusing on the implications for female entrepreneurs. While existing studies have predominantly examined gender-related challenges, such as disparities in access to financial and social capital, the role of marital status has received limited attention. Drawing on Becker’s seminal work (1965, 1974) on time allocation and human capital investment, this study argues that entrepreneurs face distinct risks and resource constraints compared to employees, who benefit from organizational risk-sharing and stable income. In contrast, entrepreneurs bear the full burden of market uncertainty and opportunity costs, making personal …

Ensemble Learning Models For Large-Scale Time Series Forecasting In Supply Chain, Minjuan Zhang

Dissertations

Machine learning and AI techniques are transforming supply chain forecasting, driven by the expanding availability of data assets. These advanced methods offer powerful opportunities to optimize management processes, reduce operational costs, and enhance strategic decision-making, which is crucial for enterprise success. However, conventional statistical approaches, such as Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Models (ARIMA), dynamic regression, and Unobserved Component Models (UCMs)—which have long dominated time series forecasting—often fall short in accuracy and scalability. These traditional models face limitations in batch processing, handling large-scale data, addressing uncertainty-induced disruptions, and synchronizing demand-supply scenarios.

To address these challenges, a novel class of AI-powered ensemble …
