Marketing Export Grapes, W R. Jamieson

IN RECENT years there have been many changes in the buying power and of the availability of fresh fruit on our principal overseas grape market, Singapore.

The Midwest Quarterly: A Journal of Contemporary Thought

in this issue. . .

THE GRATIFYING RECEPTION our more discerning readers gave the first two articles in our October number ( "Alternative to Futility" and "The Case of Harold Rugg") encouraged the editors to select another discussion of the problems of higher education in America for inclusion in this issue. An increasingly broad variety of manuscripts coming our way has made possible the selection of four other articles within the general area of twentieth century American life and letters, with particular emphasis on letters. From the tidal wave of verse contributions which threatened for a time to inundate us …

The Decomposition Principle In Engineering Problems: Towards A Multi-Level Concept Of Problem Solving, Hamilton A. Chase, S. Sankar Sengupta Dec 1961

The Decomposition Principle In Engineering Problems: Towards A Multi-Level Concept Of Problem Solving, Hamilton A. Chase, S. Sankar Sengupta

Research Reports from the Department of Operations

In a previous report it was shown that a large system of differential equations could be decomposed into smaller groups (called subproblems) such that the solutions of the subproblems converged to the solution of the original system. It was also shown that the decomposition was most effective when the original problem was decomposed along the boundaries of weakest interaction in terms of the Lipschitz constants. This last fact, however, is a desirable but not essential condition. The major purpose of the present report is to develop certain techniques which will facilitate the application of the decomposition principle as stated in …

The Midwest Quarterly: A Journal of Contemporary Thought

in this issue. . .

AS THE MIDWEST QUARTERLY begins its third year of publication, the editors present an issue containing articles on our customarily wide variety of subjects. In this issue, however, we present our first discussions of American education. In view of the fact that this journal is the successor to The Educational Leader published by this college for over twenty years, it may seem a little strange that it has taken us so long to arrive at this point. The explanation is an easy one: we have made it a rule to use only the best of …

An Investigation Of Factors Relating To Turnover Among Nursing Personnel Of A Selected Hospital, Thelma I. Ogren Sep 1961

An Investigation Of Factors Relating To Turnover Among Nursing Personnel Of A Selected Hospital, Thelma I. Ogren

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

The purpose of this study was to identify factors that contributed to the turnover among nursing personnel of a selected hospital in a large metropolitan city. It was felt that such a study would assist in the reduction of turnover among the nursing personnel.

Other similar studies revealed that reasons for turnover among hospital nursing personnel were due to low salaries, hours of work, work loads, communications, improper placement, poor supervision, and a lack of promotional opportunities. It was also found that the younger age group had a larger turnover rate than the older age group, that hospitals with schools …
