Computer Simulation Study Of The Joint Deployment Of The 23rd Wing And 82nd Airborne Division From Pope Air Force Base, John B. Prechtel, Mark S. Wingreen Sep 1993

Computer Simulation Study Of The Joint Deployment Of The 23rd Wing And 82nd Airborne Division From Pope Air Force Base, John B. Prechtel, Mark S. Wingreen

Theses and Dissertations

This thesis produced a model of the Army airdrop segment of the Pope AFB deployment system. The original intent was to model the entire system and simulate the simultaneous deployment of the 23rd Wing and 82nd Airborne Division; however, time constraints and incomplete data forced a reduction in scope. The study provides an excellent foundation for further research into the use of simulation to develop a generalized deployment sizing model. The airdrop segment of the system was modeled using the researcher's personal observations of the system, the expertise of personnel who work within the system, and documentation of the problems …

A Benchmark Of Tractor Trailer Operator Training Between The United States Army's 37th Transportation Command And A Selected Civilian Industry Leader, Stephen J. Mayhew, Joel T. Peterson Sep 1993

A Benchmark Of Tractor Trailer Operator Training Between The United States Army's 37th Transportation Command And A Selected Civilian Industry Leader, Stephen J. Mayhew, Joel T. Peterson

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose or this research was to determine differences between the Army's 37th Transportation Command (TRANSCOM) TRACTOR TRAILER (T/T) driver training program and a selected civilian industry leader's training program in order to identify practices which could improve 37th TRANSCOM's training program. In order to make this comparison, the researchers used a benchmarking methodology to compare T/T training programs of 37th TRANSCOM and Eaton Roadranger Training Institute. Major findings were identified in five areas. There were negative gaps in the four benchmark areas of minimum age requirement, course content, prior driving experience required of instructors, and mock-up training aids. One …

The Midwest Quarterly; Vol. 34 No. 4, D. G. Myers, Terry White, Sheldon W. Liebman, Judith Ann Spector, Mark Allister, Joy L. Davis, Kat Snider Blackbird, Midwest Quarterly Editors

The Midwest Quarterly: A Journal of Contemporary Thought

How should literary critics accomplish their necessary judgments? Robert Penn Warren, though marginalized by some historians of literary criticism in the twentieth century, has, in D. G. MYERS's opinion, an important contribution to our understanding of the discipline. Professor of English at Texas A & M University, Myers has published articles on the history and theory of criticism in a number of journals and is completing a book on the history of creative writing in American literary education.

TERRY WHITE explores the writings of three contemporary authors on the nature of the choices humans face when confronted with evil. Assistant …

Accountants' Writing Tools, Kenneth S. Most Mar 1993

Accountants' Writing Tools, Kenneth S. Most

Accounting Historians Notebook

Thanks to Professor Denise Schmandt-Besserat, we now believe that we understand the origins of writing, and accountants are eager to associate their art with early attempts to demonstrate accountability. Very little attention, however, has been devoted to the medium, as distinct from the message, and in particular, to the tools and materials accountants use. One hundred years ago an English journalist pronounced "In so far as the perfection of materials for writing is concerned, we may have little to hope for in this country." Paper and ink, he thought, were so perfectly adjusted to their purpose that it: was hard …
