The Lord's Prayer, The Pastor's Prayer, G. H. Smukal Jun 1945

The Lord's Prayer, The Pastor's Prayer, G. H. Smukal

Concordia Theological Monthly

The Kingdom is the kingdom of the Father, for the Father is addressed. And since Jesus teaches us to pray for the coming of the Father's kingdom, the Father must have a kingdom. This argument is sustained by the conclusion of the prayer: Thine is the Kingdom. Since the Father has a kingdom, He is a King. Though He is the King, we are to approach Him as our Father. Boston Chronicle Newspaper

The Boston Chronicle was a daily newspaper published from 1915-1966 and often described as Boston’s “other Black newspaper.” These scanned images were made from Suffolk University’s microfilm reels (covering 1932-1960) that were originally purchased from the Boston Public Library. Some of the original microfilm images are of poor quality so not all of the content is readable or keyword searchable.

An Investigation Of The Syntax Of Words Denoting Time In The New Testament, Ronald David Drayson Jan 1945

An Investigation Of The Syntax Of Words Denoting Time In The New Testament, Ronald David Drayson

Master's Theses

Statement of the problem

In the English language, a word denoting time calls for the assistance of other words in order to describe the particular aspect of the time to which reference is made. For instance, the word "night" by itself describes little, but "by night" or "night-time" suggests the specific kind of time in contrast to "day time". "In the night" refers to a point of time at which something happened that did not involve the whole night, whereas "during the night" or "throughout the night" would suggest an extension of a condition or experience during the whole of …

Somewheres [sic] in Belgium

My Sweetheart,

Today the mailman was good to me. Received air mails from you dated the 16[th] and 21st, a letter from Lolly Black and coinsidentally [sic] a letter from Jerry—and a V-Mail letter (in 2 parts) from brother, Mort. I can’t complain when I get mail like that!

This morning we heard that they had established a shower point in a nearby town so I convoyed about 60 men to the shower point. When we arrived there we found that there was no hot …

Christmas Day in Belgium

My Adorable Darling,

Sweetheart, I love you and miss you like mad on this Christmas Day. We had a very elegant Christmas [D]ay dinner—turkey and all the trimmings. Despite the fact that we had moved so rapidly, it’s truly remarkable that we have the chow that we do.

Well, here’s the long letter that I promised you. By now you have read the headlines in all the papers and have learned of the great enemy counter-offensive which I’m sure will be crushed completely before long.

I had heard on the radio, …
