Guilt In The Parish Ministry-A Pastoral Perspective, Dale Kleimola
Guilt In The Parish Ministry-A Pastoral Perspective, Dale Kleimola
Master of Divinity Thesis
This paper is divided into four major sections. The first presents the nature of the illness from a personal and mec7icalperspective. This will be helpful in revealing to an interested pastor the symptoms of, the- illness. The second section deals with the illness from a theological perspective, especially in terms of how depression is influenced by the tension that exists between Law and Gospel. The third section deals with depression as a psychological illness and discusses how some schools of psychiatric medicine deal with the relationship between personal religious faith and psychological disorder. The fourth section considers how a pastor …

Ethnohistoric Notes On Indian Groups Associated With Three Spanish Missions At Guerrero, Coahuila, T. N. Campbell
Ethnohistoric Notes On Indian Groups Associated With Three Spanish Missions At Guerrero, Coahuila, T. N. Campbell
Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State
Three Spantsh missions, San Francisco Solano, San Juan Bautista and San Bernardo, were established near the Rio Grande at present Guerrero, northeastern Coahuila, during the years 1700-1703. Remnants of at least 88 distinctively named Indian groups at various times came to live at one or more of these missions. In 1975- 1976, the Center for Archaeological Research, The University of Texas San Antonio, supported by funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Kathryn O'Connor Foundation, conducted archaeological excavations at two of these missions, San Juan Bautista and San Bernardo. Since the cultural debris recovered from excavations is …

"No insurance company can write insurance on burning buildings and stay in business very long."
The burning buildings in this case are severely handicapped children, and the insurance company is the Lutheran Church in America's Board of Pensions.
Dr. Edwin Wang used this analogy to explain the LCA's decision, beginning in 1976, to deny health and pension plan coverage to children adopted by LCA professional church workers-if those children have pre-existing severe handicaps. Any severely handicapped person who wants to enter the ministry in the LCA would also be ineligible for health and pension coverage.

Department of Classics and Religious Studies: Faculty Publications
The first question one must ask of a work of literary art is purpose. Once the purpose is clear, the method of construction can be seen, and the workmanship better evaluated. There is no better shortcut to an author's purpose in construction than to see where he ends: He has total control over where his words go. Presuming a planning author rather than an automatic amanuensis, which school of writing has its adherents, one has as a corollary a literary law: if X is where the author arrived, X is where he intended to go, meditating all the while on …

Triad: Sculpture Projects Doyle/Gourfain/Leicester, Wright State University Art Galleries
Exhibition and Program Catalogs
The project documented in this catalog were first conceived in early 1978 by Ed Levine, then chairman of the Department of Art and Art History at Wright State University, and Betty Collings, then director of the University Gallery at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Both institutions had, for five years, been sponsoring a variety of exhibitions and experimental projects that probed various aspects of contemporary art. The similarity of goals between the two institutions made this collaborative effort possible.
Each of the three artists visited Dayton and Columbus in the spring of 1979 to survey possible contexts for his …

Wayward Children And The Law, 1820-1900: The Genesis Of The Status Offense Jurisdiction Of The Juvenile Court, Peter D. Garlock
Law Faculty Articles and Essays
Since the United States Supreme Court's decision in In re Gault in 1967, in which due process rights were extended to juvenile delinquency proceedings which might result in commitment of youths to reformatory institutions, numerous courts, legislatures, and private study commissions have been re-examining the rights and obligations of young people in contemporary American society. In this ongoing debate over juvenile jurisprudence, perhaps no issue has provoked as much controversy as the question of whether juvenile courts should continue to exercise jurisdiction over juvenile "status offenses"--those unique forms of deviant behavior which are illegal only for minors. It is not …

The Ethics Of Business And Herbert Hoover’S Internationalism, Robin L. Hamilton
The Ethics Of Business And Herbert Hoover’S Internationalism, Robin L. Hamilton
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Is it possible that someone possessed the attributes of a humanitarian and yet acted in such a way that those same characteristics were lost? Could an administrator deal with the plight of the unfortunate members of society and fail to recognize the causational factors of that plight? It would appear illogical to reason that the correct responses to the above questions could be in the affirmative, and yet the affirmative answers seemed to be applicable to the life and career of Herbert Hoover. The time-line ran from West Branch, Iowa, in 1874, ending in that same village in 1964.

The Three Frances: 1940-1944, Sarah Fishman
Honors Papers
France during the German Occupation was divided into two zones, the northern two/thirds, directly occupied by German troops, and the southern zone, which remained until 1942 an independent French state. However France, divided more than physically, can also be broken down into three groups, the Collaborators and the Resisters, who responded actively to the Occupation, and Passive France, the large majority of French people who allowed events to run their course without attempting actively to shape them.
This thesis, rather than a history of France from 1940 through 1944, will examine these three categories of response to the occupation. Why …

The Piedmont Railroad: A Reflection Of Confederate Railroad Policy, David Maurice Self
The Piedmont Railroad: A Reflection Of Confederate Railroad Policy, David Maurice Self
History Theses & Dissertations
Confederate railroad policies had a disruptive effect on the final outcome of the war for the South. This thesis endeavors to examine the history of the construction of the Piedmont Railroad as it reflected Confederate railroad policy during the American Civil War. The work is devoted specifically to a study of the obstacles confronting the construction of the Piedmont Railroad from its inception to its completion. One finds throughout this period a fluctuating Confederate policy concerning its railroads and no permanent. official agency to coordinate its affairs. The Piedmont Railroad was to be a vital part of the system of …
