The Teacher As Liberator: An Analysis Of The Philosophy Of Education Of Friedrich Nietzsche (1973), Ann Margaret Sharp
The Teacher As Liberator: An Analysis Of The Philosophy Of Education Of Friedrich Nietzsche (1973), Ann Margaret Sharp
Collected Papers of Ann Margaret Sharp
This dissertation will be an exegesis of the educational thought of Friedrich Nietzsche with the central focus on his conception of the teacher as liberator. This will involve an analysis of his conception of freedom, an analysis which involves a grasp of his philosophy as a whole. Nietzsche never wrote a systematic educational philosophy. Yet, in a certain sense, education is his primary concern. "I teach you the overman. Man is something that shall be overcome.... The overman is the meaning of the earth." In Nietzsche's view, the conscious production of the overman, a person who is characterized by a …

Some Moral And Ethical Dilemmas Of Science In The 1970'S, Yvonne C. Condell
Some Moral And Ethical Dilemmas Of Science In The 1970'S, Yvonne C. Condell
Journal of the Minnesota Academy of Science
Some critics of the scientific community - scientists and non-scientists - believe that scientists should become more socially responsible, that science should be tolerated only as long as its results are socially beneficial, and that science must be constitutionalized and controlled if it is not to destroy civilization.

Meaning Of Work For Women, Susan Ackerman
Meaning Of Work For Women, Susan Ackerman
Dissertations and Theses
In this research practicum we were concerned with the measurement and implications of factors which influence the meaning of work for white American women. The present study was a pilot study for the second part of a research project proposed by the Human Interaction Research Institute (H.I.R.I.). John Marks, Ph.D., was co-director of the first part of the project and is the director of this study.
Part I of the "Meaning of Work" project examined alternative life styles and corresponding career choices made by young men. This study identified values, aspirations, backgrounds, and characteristics of men who were grouped as …

Self-Actualization: A Process Of Leisure, Michael Kean Mcleod
Self-Actualization: A Process Of Leisure, Michael Kean Mcleod
All Master's Theses
This study presented an exploration into alternative values for personal growth that exist in leisure. An assumption was made that leisure provides the individual a basic opportunity to actualize his greatest potentialities towards an awareness of self and personal fulfillment. Positive, growth-producing qualities of leisure are presented as they have been experience and observed by the writer.
The recommendation is generally for the recognition of the need for a humanistic approach to leisure, and specifically for the need for those in the people-helping professions to assume some responsibility for the process of educating for leisure.

A Comparison Of Incarcerated And Non-Incarcerated Women Based On The M.M.P.I., Rose Marie Carter
A Comparison Of Incarcerated And Non-Incarcerated Women Based On The M.M.P.I., Rose Marie Carter
Masters Theses
The field for research on women offenders provides an extensive opportunity for scientific investigation. Many writers (Gibbons, 1971; Cunningham, 1964; Sutherland, 1968) have discussed the causes of crime and their resulting social implications. Organized mass presentations of the movement of crime among women is negligible. Today female incarcerates make up approximately 11 per cent (Lerner, 1972) of the total number in state and federal penitentiaries. Previous research (Cunningham, 1964) on female felons found poor self-concept, excessive dependency and pathological emotionality to be a consistent pattern in women criminals. Other research (Apfeldorf, 1971; Guze, 1959) found criminal and non-criminal groups could …

Homosexual Recall Of Parent-Child Relationships: A Sampling Problem?, Tim J. Cain
Masters Theses
The purpose of this study was to try to determine whether or not the way that a homosexual recalled his parent child relationships might be a function of the population from which he was drawn.
The primary hypothesis of this paper was that attitudes would not differ significantly between homosexual and heterosexual groups. A secondary hypothesis was that attitudes would not differ significantly between groups in each area covered; therapy, social action, and non-social action.
Sixty male homosexuals and 60 male heterosexuals volunteered to participate in this study.
The 27 item questionnaire adapted by Ray Evans from Irving Bieber's questionnaire …

An Examination Of The Sacramental Vision Of Dylan Thomas: Its Sources, Analogues And Its Expression In His Poetry, Margaret A. Hardesty
Graduate Dissertations and Theses
Amid the twentieth-century prophets of man’s total and final disintegration, against the age’s portrayers of the incurable malaise and disease gripping society, the voice of Dylan Thomas sounds as a counterpoint, evincing a note of optimism for man and society, expressing a hope that both might achieve reintegration, and, thereby, a new life. This optimistic note, this expression of hope evolved from a vision which gradually possessed Thomas and became the lodestar of all his poetic endeavors. He moved away from an uneasy, pessimistic pantheism in his youth to a firm joyousness in the conviction that all things are holy …
