Move Over, Mrs. Markham, Otterbein University Theatre And Dance Department

1990 Summer Theatre

Move Over Mrs. Markham is set in a very elegant top floor London flat, belonging to Philip and Joanna Markham. The flat has been under renovation, and thus has been largely empty. Philip is a straight-laced publisher of children's books, and he shares an office with his partner, Henry Lodge, on the ground floor. Reluctantly, Philip agrees to let Henry borrow his apartment for the evening to "entertain" his latest girlfriend. At the same time, Joanna Markham is persuaded by Linda Lodge to let her borrow the apartment, so she can entertain her lover. What nobody knows is that the …

Winona Campus Life, Mass Communication Department May 1990

Winona Campus Life, Mass Communication Department

Winona Campus Life

Winona Campus Life was a weekly laboratory newspaper produced by the WSU Mass Communciation Department students and printed as a supplement to the Sunday Winona Daily News, which began in September 1983. The newspaper provided coverage of the four institutions of higher education in Winona: Winona State University, St. Mary's University, College of Saint Teresa, and Winona Area Vocational-Technical School. It was created to provide a place for Mass Communcation students to publish their articles and photographs with the idea of generating reader feedback, which is essential in journalism education.

Feminist Criticism Of Classical Rhetoric Texts: A Case Study Of Gorgias' Helen, Susan L. Trollinger May 1990

Feminist Criticism Of Classical Rhetoric Texts: A Case Study Of Gorgias' Helen, Susan L. Trollinger

English Faculty Publications

Despite the diversity of claims feminist scholars of antiquity advance, they share at least one preoccupation: the critique of patriarchy. That is, they challenge "the manifestation and institutionalization of male dominance over women" (Lerner 239) enacted in primary and secondary texts. The particular methods by which they make their critiques of women's subjugation vary as much as their claims, but most can be classified into one of two categories according to their broad interests in woman as a reader or as a writer of classical texts. Signs Of Culture: Deafness In Nineteenth-Century America, Rebecca A. Rourke '90 May 1990

Signs Of Culture: Deafness In Nineteenth-Century America, Rebecca A. Rourke '90

Fenwick Scholar Program

While there is an abundance of research on twentieth-century manifestations of Deaf culture, the nineteenth-century roots have been largely overlooked. The creation of residential schools for the deaf gave the Deaf population a place to meet and share ideas, for the first time in American history. The close and sustained contact generated cultural development. This thesis addresses the development of a cultural identity among the Deaf population by attempting to compare the experiences and opinions of the Deaf and hearing communities as they existed in nineteenth-century America.
