The Buddhist Concept Of Death, Paul Heerboth Aug 1950

The Buddhist Concept Of Death, Paul Heerboth

Concordia Theological Monthly

The manifest turmoil and unrest of these latter days-atheistic Communism, idolatrous materialism, Iron Curtain barbarism, A-bomb fears, and now the "H" - are but a coarser outburst, a more inflamed symptom, of the fundamental problem of all centuries - "How can man in sin overcome his separation from God?” "How can man conquer death which without Christ makes this separation from God forever painful and forever permanent?" Like all mankind, so also the Buddhists, though in a more comprehensive and attractive …

Amerindian Creation Myths And A Common Tradition, Robert L. Lail Jun 1950

Amerindian Creation Myths And A Common Tradition, Robert L. Lail

Bachelor of Divinity

Thus the reader has been led to the subject of this thesis. He is aware of a universal consistency of beliefs. It is quite evident that there is a likeness between these beliefs and the accounts of Scripture. The reader is also aware of the fact that there is a difference of opinion among students of anthropology concerning the origin of these similarities. With this overall view in mind, the author has decided to limit the investigation to creation myths, and, with these, the concept of a Creator-God. The author has limited the thesis further to myths and fragments of …

A Christian Interpretation Of Sex, Richard Scheimann Jun 1950

A Christian Interpretation Of Sex, Richard Scheimann

Bachelor of Divinity

There is a sharp discrepancy between profession and practice in the sex life of the American people. It is commonly said that the philosophy of sexual conduct which has been traditionally held up to the public has been strongly determined by Puritanism. Neither Puritanism nor traditional morals are popular any more.. Especially the “Puritanism” and the morals connected with sexual behavior.

The Effects Of Urbanization On The Function Of The Church, David S. Schuller Jun 1950

The Effects Of Urbanization On The Function Of The Church, David S. Schuller

Bachelor of Divinity

The interest in this paper will not be the causes for the rise of urbanism or a study of the social ecology of the city. The emphasis will be on the social relationships in the city. We will ask the question of how these influences in urban areas have affected the function of the church in witnessing.
