Most historians of the education of American colonial women began their studies with the entrance of women into formal institutions of learning. As a result they have neglected significant developments in the history of the education of American women because it was not until the nineteenth century that formal institutions were opened to women. With the growing interest in feminist studies one is very much aware of the problems women had breaking into the educational community of the nineteenth century. While this trend toward formal education for women was important, historians lose a much-needed perspective if they neglect the developments …

This study will present a comprehensive study of the YMMIA from 1939 to 1974. This study includes the emergence of different programs and the changes in age groupings, as well as goals of the program. The Background And Nature Of Temple Mythology In Rabbinic Literature, V. George Shillington

Rabbinic ideas concerning the Temple of Jerusalem captured the interest of the present writer as he was researching the biblical concept of sacrifice. It was fascinating to discover that the rich symbolism of the Temple in rabbinic thought developed in a period when the Temple did not exist. The presence of teh mythical Temple in the literature of the Rabbis began to raise certain questions: Why did the Jewish leaders of the post-Temple era develop such an elaborate mythology of the Temple? Why did they continue to imagine a cultus which had long since vanished? These questions are compounded by …
