Approaches To Bible-Study In A Metropolitan Center, A. R. Kretzmann
Approaches To Bible-Study In A Metropolitan Center, A. R. Kretzmann
Concordia Theological Monthly
To many of our people the Bible is a closed book, not because of the difficulty of understanding it, but because the approaches to it, outside of the sermon, have always been rather ponderous and seemingly uninteresting. A fortunate impatience and natural rebellion against such an attitude has caused us to seek new approaches to Bible-study which would be thoroughly dignified and truly enriching. The people who have found the way back to the Scriptures through these approaches have contributed to one of the most heartening experiences of a metropolitan ministry. We are not here in order to defend any …

The Critical Principles Of Irving Babbitt In The Light Of Those Set Forth In Jacques Maritain's Art And Scholasticism, Alice Willard Hollis
Bachelors’ Theses
The writings of Irving Babbitt have caused considerable comment in Catholic circles. First of all, because his criticism of the trends of thought developed by Rousseau in the nineteenth century is so nearly like their own.

Modern Psychiatry And The Bible, H. D. Mensing
Modern Psychiatry And The Bible, H. D. Mensing
Concordia Theological Monthly
A discussion of modem psychiatry and the Bible in the compass of our allotted space cannot pretend to be exhaustive, but must of necessity be a mere sketch, touching here and there the points that seem of special interest for our purpose. We shall, in fact, limit ourselves to the discussion of current technical terms and then, as we proceed, stop to examine some of the problems as they come within the sphere of our observation. The very nature of our subject-matter must preclude any dogmatic statements, except where a statement of Holy Scripture is not concerned; for psychology with …

The Life And Work Of Eleanora Duse, Eleanor Kleczka
The Life And Work Of Eleanora Duse, Eleanor Kleczka
Bachelors’ Theses
The purpose of this thesis is to present the biography of one of the greatest of the twentieth century actresses, Eleonora Duse, and the art for which she became famous.
By the revealing power of an unobtrusive art, Duse made herself the greatest actress of her day. When the French said she had widened the horizon of her art, they paid tribute to what was something almost reaching the stage of genius, if it was not that.
As an artist she belongs to the world, and the world has placed her among its greatest. But those who knew her only …

Bachelors’ Theses
The subject of Communism and the advocates of Communism is very timely at the present time. This movement is attempting to gain a foothold in various countries throughout the world. It strikes at a time when a country is at its lowest ebb, and many countries, now feeling the full dread effects of the World War, have laid themselves open to Communist ideas.

Sherwood Anderson: An Appreciation Of His Life And Fiction, Kenneth Davenport
Sherwood Anderson: An Appreciation Of His Life And Fiction, Kenneth Davenport
Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice
It has been only in the past four decades that Americans have awakened to the fact that they could have a literature which is not dependent on any foreign country, particularly that of England. It has been only in this period of time that an interest has been awakened in the history of American letters and the reasons for their development along their specific lines. Without attempting to assign causes, it is at once in evidence that the literature of America, with only two exceptions, to the beginnings of realism is strongly tied to the literature of Europe, particularly to …
