Solid Casting In Aluminum And Concrete Using The Multiple-Piece Plaster Mold: A Method Of Introducing The Adolescent Student To The Indirect Method Of Sculpture, Donald Leroy Sandblast

This thesis deals with an investigation of the feasibility of using the multiple-piece plaster mold as a vehicle for teaching the indirect method of sculpture to the adolescent student. It is based upon the assumption that the students involved in the processes described will have had previous experience with the tools, techniques, and materials to be used. The investigation centered around the ability of the students to express themselves through the development of a sculptural form. The teacher's role was to assist the student identifying, expressing, and evaluating his individual goals against those goals established by the teacher. Instructional goals …

Some of the questioning comes from those who feel the church program generally is irrelevant to the needs of contemporary man, with the Sunday School being the "most 1-vasted hour of the week. 11 others, though not so thorough in discarding the church's present structure and efforts, nevertheless question whether some changes in the life of the church are not in order if new people are to be reached with the Gospel and involved in programs that promote genuine spiritual growth and development.

The observer's relation to religious art in the fifteenth century has received only minor attention in recent studies of Northern painting. Scholars have overlooked the function of naturalistic images and have concentrated upon problems of attribution, chronology. and iconogrophy. In Iowa, The Electric Company is broadcast over the IEBN (Iowa Educational Broadcast Network). Approximately 65 percent of the population of Iowa is capable of receiving a clear signal from one of the IEBN stations. According to a national survey by Drs. R. J. Liebert and R. E. Herriott, in the fall of 1972 23 percent of all elementary schools in the United States were using The Electric Company in some way. 1) the biography of the unnamed dilettante artist-philosopher “__”
2) personal interpolations by the biographer, Russel Stanford
3) editor’s commentary by Randall Snyder

Stanford, in spite of a lack of enthusiasm for the subject, agrees to write the biography. During this period his health degenerates and he increasingly imposes his own irrelevant opinions into the biography (his remarks are all indented, using the Palatino font, and further identified by the use of the small case “i”. Siegmund Lubin came to the United States of America in 1867, and six years later, after various setbacks, established an optical business in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Experiments in his leisure time led him to a career in moving pictures. His success and accomplishments in the period of two decades were entangled in legal battles which resulted in his return to the optical business.

Mr. Lubin built several studios across the United States in a westward expansion. His studio in Coronado, California in 1915–16, with eastern controls, proved to have been typical of the western studio during the early motion picture days. …
