Sacrifice, The Common Good, And The Catholic Lawyer, John J. Coughlin Jan 2005

Canon law and the Catholic intellectual tradition …

The Promises And Pitfalls Of Reminiscences As Historical Documents: A Case In Point, Daniel W. Stowell

Documentary Editing: Journal of the Association for Documentary Editing (1979–2011)

Another co-counsel was certain that Lincoln's carefully worded jury instructions paved the way for Armstrong's acquittal. The judge recalled that it was a doctor's expert testimony that a blow to the back of the victim's head by someone other than Armstrong was …

En-Gendering The Police: Women's Police Stations And Feminism In São Paulo, Cecília Santos Jan 2004

En-Gendering The Police: Women's Police Stations And Feminism In São Paulo, Cecília Santos

Sociology

This article contributes to feminist state theory and studies of women's police stations in Latin America by examining the processes shaping the multiple and changing positions of explicit alliance, opposition, and ambiguous alliance assumed by policewomen regarding feminists since the creation of the world's first women's police station in 1985 in São Paulo. While studies of women's police stations tend to overlook the political conjuncture, much of the literature on the state and gender explains the relationship between the state and women's movements as a function of the political regime. I argue for a more grounded feminist state theory, taking …

A Constitution Of Our Own : The Constitutional Convention Of 1872 And The Resurrection Of Confederate West Virginia The Constitutional Convention Of 1872 And The Resurrection Of Confederate West Virginia, Richard Ogden Hartman

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

The Liberal Republicans joined the Democrats in successfully removing many of the reconstruction measures affecting the disenfranchised. Once the Democratic Party regained the legislative majority, they swept away all the …
