Solidarity In Time Of Armed Conflict. Women’S Patterns Of Solidarity In Internally Displaced Person (Idp) Camps In Darfur, Western Sudan, Mawa Mohamed
The Journal of Social Encounters
This study, a vital part of a Ph.D. thesis, delves into the prolonged armed conflict's impact in Darfur, which has resulted in severe loss of assets and lives, disrupted livelihoods, and food insecurity. Among the most vulnerable are internally displaced women, primary targets of violence due to their caregiving roles and responsibilities. Addressing the gap in existing literature, this research explores the meanings, practices, experiences, and representations of solidarity among women residing in the Abu-Shouk IDP camp. Challenging conventional perceptions, the study highlights women's competencies and strengths, empowering them to develop unique coping strategies within the conflict context. It uncovers …

Language Sciences And Their Impact On Dispelling The Illusion Of Difference And Contradiction In The Book Of God, Ahmed Ababneh
Language Sciences And Their Impact On Dispelling The Illusion Of Difference And Contradiction In The Book Of God, Ahmed Ababneh
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
This study examines the employment of language sciences to dispel the illusion of difference and contradiction in the Holy Qur’an through the use of rhetoric and grammar. Rhetoric is explored through its three branches: semantics, eloquence, and "badi" (embellishment). In semantics, techniques such as the meanings of letters, the method of delivering information and intent, implication and explicitness, and presenting assumptions as certainties or straightforward ideas are analyzed. The rhetorical device of metaphor is also considered. For the science of "badi," the study demonstrates that certain topics influence dispelling misconception, focusing on moral enhancements like exaggeration in description—not for the …
Sources Of Income For Women In Islam, Abdulfattah Al-Samman
Sources Of Income For Women In Islam, Abdulfattah Al-Samman
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
According to some studies, the feminization of poverty has become a common trend in Islamic societies, with rates exceeding 70%. This situation directly contradicts the essence of Sharia, which provides women with thirty sources of income and ensures their financial independence and care in all circumstances. If a woman is wealthy, Sharia safeguards her wealth and grants her the freedom to spend it as she wishes. In the Muslim community, a breadwinner is typically responsible for meeting her needs, protecting her honor, and providing food, drink, clothing, and housing according to his ability. In the absence of a breadwinner, Allah …

The Effect Of Credit Facilities Granted By Jordanian Islamic Banks On The Money Supply: An Analytical Study For The Period From 2011 To 2020, Ali Al-Aababneh, Amer Al-Otoum
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
This study aimed to explore the concept and types of credit facilities and their relationship to the money supply. It also aimed to explain the concept of Islamic banks and their reality in Jordan, as well as the nature and types of financing formulas used by Jordanian Islamic banks in the facilities they grant and their impact on generating bank money. This was achieved through a presentation of statistical analysis models for the independent study variables, represented by credit facilities, the factors affecting them, and the extent of their impact on the dependent variable represented by the money supply. The …

The Concept Of The Contravention Between Realization And Negligence: An Empirical Study, Saeed Dwaikat, Waleed Ali Ali
The Concept Of The Contravention Between Realization And Negligence: An Empirical Study, Saeed Dwaikat, Waleed Ali Ali
An-Najah University Journal for Research - B (Humanities)
This research aims to examine the concept of contravention as one of the studies of the fundamentals of jurisprudence (Islamic Fiqh) related to the denotative meaning of expressions, and to present the different viewpoints on the issue under investigation and the weighting between them as well. The researchers opted for dropping their theoretical study on the two holy Quranic verses of Repentance 80 (al –tawbah), and the Rooms: 6 (Al-hujurat), as an applied study on the subject. The two researchers followed the descriptive approach, and divided their study into three parts. The first talks about the concept of contravention, its …

Sex And Women In The Script Of The Story Of Sheikh Mardan According To Bugese And Makassarese Versions, Mustari Mustari, Hisyam Zaini
International Review of Humanities Studies
Sex and women are always interesting to talk about due to their mysterious nature. Discussion on the topic will get more interesting when it is related to illegal practice done by spiritual figures who look for the position of insan kamil or perfect human being. Such kind of depiction is found in popular stories that live among Bugis and Makassar people, known as Paupaunna Séheq Maradang in Bugis tradition, and Paupaunna Séhu Maradang in Makassar tradition. The script was originally transformed from Javanese to Malay and spread to Nusantara languages including, Bugese and Makassarese. Both versions of this text have …
Giving Zakat In Building Mosques And Schools Equipment: Comparative Study, Abdelhamid Ben Ali
Giving Zakat In Building Mosques And Schools Equipment: Comparative Study, Abdelhamid Ben Ali
An-Najah University Journal for Research - B (Humanities)
This study centered on the rule of the Islamic Sharia in the disbursement of alms giving income to the building of mosques and schools. The problem of this study stems from the point view of Islamic law, which has set alms giving in only eight categories. Moreover, if it said that alms giving is permissible in all public interest, it will cancel the benefit of determining of these alms of giving. There are disquieting questions such as: What if people fail to volunteer in mosques and schools? This study came to achieve a set of objectives, such as: The most …

(Dis)Locating Meaning: Toward A Hermeneutical Response In Education To Religiously Inspired Extremism, Farid Panjwani
(Dis)Locating Meaning: Toward A Hermeneutical Response In Education To Religiously Inspired Extremism, Farid Panjwani
Institute for Educational Development, Karachi
A key epistemological assumption in the ideologies of many of the groups termed extremist is that there is an unmediated access to a Divine Will. Driven by this assumption, and facilitated by several other factors, a range of coercive actions (including violence) to force others into submission to the perceived Will of God are seen as justified by some of these groups. A consideration of how religion is discussed in various contexts, from seminaries and schools to media and policy discourses, shows that this assumption about unmediated access to Divine Will is widely shared and that most children grow up …

Cpart Assesses Manuscript Archives In Be_I_Rut, Vc;1,~L~~N
Insights: The Newsletter of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship
In February, Daniel C. Peterson and E. Jan Wilson of the FARMS Center for the Preservation of Ancient Religious Texts (CPART) visited with officials in Beirut, Lebanon, and at the Vatican Apostolic Library in Rome to determine the feasibility of digitally imaging ancient religious manuscripts for inclusion in a CD-ROM database. If undertaken, the project stands to benefit not only the many communities whose religious heritages will be preserved, but also Westerners who know very little about Syriac, Christian Arabic, and Armenian theology, liturgy, philosophy, and history-much of it relevant to the study of early Christianity.

Farms Lecture Series Focuses On Book Of Abraham
Insights: The Newsletter of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship
During a March lecture series at Brigham Young University, three Latter-day Saint scholars shared recent research on the Book of Abraham. This research supports the ancient origin and character of the Book of Abraham. Sponsored by FARMS, the free public lectures drew large crowds, filling an auditorium to capacity and necessitating overflow accommodations. (The final lecture, "Abraham's Creation Drama," given by Hugh Nibley on 6 April, will be covered in next month's newsletter.)

The Fall And Rise Of Bengali Muslim Conciousness: Conceptualising The Identity Of The Bangla Universal, Habib Khan
The Fall And Rise Of Bengali Muslim Conciousness: Conceptualising The Identity Of The Bangla Universal, Habib Khan
Theses and Dissertations
The emergence of modern-nation states saw the end of the empirical era of exploitation and exercise of inherent racist tendencies towards the 'other'. However, the effect of that colonial system is still ever-present in the creation and governance of these newly independent states. While every new state aims to be 'modern', they adopt the international legal framework of the West as their own - a system they had initially wanted to escape. The concept of Muslim universality in the form of the ummah should have freed Pakistan from the shackles of its former colonial masters. Instead, this phenomenon was replaced …
The World Of Ibn Taymiyya: An Analysis Of The Historical Context Of Ibn Taymiyya’S Anti-Mongol Fatwas, Jarod Devoogd
The World Of Ibn Taymiyya: An Analysis Of The Historical Context Of Ibn Taymiyya’S Anti-Mongol Fatwas, Jarod Devoogd
Theses and Dissertations
Studies into Ibn Taymiyya’s fatwas against the Mongols are relatively new, despite the increasing frequency with which they are cited by modern extremist groups. Detailed explorations into the Mamluk-Ilkhanid War of the late thirteenth and early fourteenth century are also relatively new. Ibn Taymiyya, the early Mamluk Sultanate, and the Mamluk-Ilkhanid War are intricately connected, yet they are often not studied in synthesis. Generally, works that give overviews of the history of this period lack intricate details, studies dedicated to in-depth analysis of specific events are not focused on a connection to Ibn Taymiyya’s writings, and biographies on Ibn Taymiyya …
Interpretatio Islamica And The Unraveling Of The Ancient Sabian Mysteries, Maurice Hines
Interpretatio Islamica And The Unraveling Of The Ancient Sabian Mysteries, Maurice Hines
Theses and Dissertations
This thesis makes some bold claims about the identity of the Qur’anic Sabians (Ṣābi’ūn) and their symbiotic relationship with various Near Eastern religions including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Thrice mentioned in the Qur’an, they clung to an ancient religion - or perhaps the most ancient – that spanned the entire Eastern hemisphere and provided not only the structural foundations of human civilizations, but also their religious, philosophical, and intellectual foundations. However, their creed had undergone a variety of changes over time including a shift in the conception of God from a personal to a transcendent deity, the worship …

Products For Financing Maintenance And Finishing Works In Islamic Banks: An Applied Fundamental Study ¬منتجات تمويل أعمال الصيانة والتشطيب في المصارف الإسلامية دراسة تأصيلية تطبيقية, Hamza Mashoka
Jordan Journal of Islamic Studies
The subject of financing maintenance and finishing works is considered one of the serious issues that Islamic banks need today. The study aimed at the legal justification of financing products for maintenance and finishing works in Islamic banks and tracking the practical application of this type of financing. The study traced applying this product in Islamic banks operating in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The study concluded that the jurisprudential adaptation of financing maintenance and finishing works varies according to the workers commitment. That is, if the worker’s commitment includes materials and wages, this is considered a parallel Istisna’a, and …

This is achieved by explaining the reality of the benefits and harms, and the rules of weighting between them in the event of conflict, and then addressing some of their applications related to the Corona pandemic in the field of financial transactions, such as monopoly, pricing, closing markets, and how the benefits and harms are balanced in judging them. The research adopted the descriptive and analytical method, presenting scientific material and jurisprudential applications, in addition to defining and analyzing …
